op, cooked up story, are you trying to tell us that no of his family member or friends called during those days ? and secondly, are you trying to tell us that the good Samaritans or local health workers could not remove his sim card an place it in another phone, at least to see what they can find to help ?

your pointed is noted, it is not good to lock your phone mostly for emergency reasons but this story is shit.

I used to lock my phone in times past but I recently had a rethink, hence my phone plus my contact and message apps are left unlocked but every other personal things are on a lock down

Why not put his sim card in another phone, or the health care personnel don't know this.?

Some people save contacts in their phone memory, not sim. So keeping contacts accessible is just the best option here

Guy, ur story sounds so unreal. If I may ask, how did d supposed dead guy's family now got information that he die? And how remote is d place dat health workers knwin d impending damage cannot transport him to a bigger n better hospital while they wait for Angel Gabriel to message d family about d guy's state? Just curious tho.........

My opinion: d story was made by pple who wanna kip prying into odas privacy unauthorized.

You r wrong. I lock my fone cos I don't want pple going thru my fone without my consent and also so dat I will not mistakenly b dailing or typing while it is in my pocket or laying on it during sleep.

iPhone/iOS has the medical ID link on your locked screen which anyone can access to see the emergency information you would/should have filled up.

Does it mean no one knew he was traveling and called to find out if he arrived safely

Even with the contacts being inaccessible, just receiving a call from a loved one would have sufficed

I will love to use this opportunity to adver.t!se an awesome product to y'all. It is called Xiaomi Mi Band. It is an activity tracker that helps you track ur daily movement, sleep pattern n amount of calories burnt. But most of all, you can use it to unlock your phone without inputting password or patterns every time. All you have to do is bring d fone close to d wrist whr u r wearing d band (dis can b accomplished by mere holding d fone) and d fone unlocks. Woke on both android and iOS devices.

If the deceased (may his soul rest in perfect peace) had one with him, d health workers won't hv had d unfortunate luck of not being able to unlock his fone and dey wld hv contacted his people who in turn wld hv taken him to a proper clinic......and he wld still b alive today.

Dnt b like d deceased, get a Mi Band today and save your life tomorrow.

PM me if you need one. smiley wink

[quote author=marshborn post=47816534]A friend of mine was involved in a a motor accident on his way makurdi, somewhere in a remote part of benue state, according to eye witnesses he became unconscious and was rushed to the local health centre around that area for first aid treatment.

The good samaritans that helped were able to locate his two phones and they tried contacting his family or friends to inform them of his where about, but to their disappointment the two phones were locked. He stayed in the state of coma for two good days before finally giving up the ghost, because the local health centre lacked the professionals to keep him alive.
Had his phone been accessible he might have stood a better chance of being alive today.

So avoid putting a screen lock on all your phones, it's okay to lock certain applications that may contain personal messages and informations e.g mobile banking app, WhatsApp e.t.c. but at least leave the contact list accessible to everybody, DON'T PUT A SCREEN LOCK.
Thanks

In case of next time, all they needed to is remove the SIM cards, and insert in another phone.

On android, there is an option to display owner info on locked screen. My own reads "In case of emergency, contact 080........" which is my wife's no.

A lot of people dont know.

I had to lock my phone when my wife saw a facebook chat of a girl who asked me for money when i never ever spoke more than 5 words of pleasantries with. The girl is a twin to a my old friend and just out of the blues made the demand. I wanted to know if her FB account was hacked so i asked her for acc no and name so i can be sure she was the one, it turn out she was actually the one. I had no plans in giving her anything till my wife saw it. Once my phone isnt unlocked, i dont know what harmless chat or call records would do to us next time.
