I've even supplied a client that brought some from America and needed to get extra from me and they attested to the quality of mine.
The country of production may differ, but we mostly use the same material and technology.
The raw materials are mostly imported and similar in any case grin.

As usual, thank you for the comprehensive reply.
Would i be right in saying, a customer can request for more chemical to be added in certain areas with distinctive characteristics, i.e high salt water moisture areas, not sure it has an effect on paint or areas prone to water splashing. Almost like painting a wall eggshell, that material feels like its not going to absorb water but just run off (could be wrong here).

You can probably request for a modification to specification and it would be incorporated during production.
Regal matte is more or less eggshell matte. It's the cleanable time. So water will naturally wash off the surface.
I really don't think salt water can affect paint aside from periodical washing off the surface and gradual wearing effect.
Salt water isn't acidic. It may be very slightly alkaline which I'm not even sure of now but the worst case scenario, it would be too insignificant. Paint chemicals are alkaline based and stable.
So any paint that doesn't allow water vapor or sea water splash stay long on the surface would protect the building better.
Durability won't be as much as areas with lower sea water splash.
Bear in mind that water, especially sea water with sand and particles in it would have some level of mild abrasion over time.

Oga allCopacetic

This broadband, is it not like a wifi broadband router or how does it work in nija ?
The day broadband becomes relatively low priced like GSM calls, then the likes of NTA will be going down. Does anyone still watch NTA these days ?

yea sure, its a wifi router alright , but here unlike in the west, data plans have both data and time cap,
in most parts of the west u either have unlimited data and speed for a given period or a given data cap that you can use for an almost unlimited period. Its either one of the two.
but here, its both.

to fully enjoy ip based TV you really need "truely" unlimited data connection. not a data plan where your speed is throttled after what is considered "fair usage"

Unlimited for where ? after 60GB, your connection speed is throttled down to snail speeds. na that one be unlimited?

actually there's quite some perceptible difference in the 1080p and 1080i resolutions, but this is visible on TVs larger than 50'' , when the objects on the screen are fast moving, and also dependent on viewer's proximity to the screen.

I dont understand a word of what you're saying from the third paragraph down .lol

@ allCopacetic,

In 2011, this happened... Unlimited Broadband.

1.4TB was downloaded in just 20 days. For some of us, it's unlimited or nothing.

That's something I'm concerned about. How will I prevent that? Is there something that shows clearly the number of meters?

Chief we're talking about Smile and you're posting speeds and comments about mainone.
It's not just about creating a plan and calling it unlimited....is it truely and by evry parameter "unlimited"

If the plan was truly unlimited, there would be nothing to upgrade to. They simply removed some "limitations" on the so called "unlimited" plan, repackaged it and added the premium tag,
Even Ntel that is currently offering great speeds in abuja and advertising its internet plans as unlimited still puts a "fair usuage" caveat.
friends who have been on the smile unlimited plan have complained of speed throttling when dey cross the 60GB threshold.

Maybe there is but I'm yet to come across any Mainone single/home user devices like other wifi service providers have.

**smiles**

The problem with Internet speed in Nigeria is the "Last Mile" design.

Even if you're connected wrongly to a fibre optics network, you'll still complain.
The Mainone "Feel The Impact" promo was setup to allow users have a real feel of broadband using a well designed network at The Palms. Most internet service providers have issues reaching their end users so Mainone setup the promo to show that the speed is there. Just get you freak on.

The email sent to me is enough to pick up a fight if I get a restricted service from Smile. You know SLA was signed during the time i was getting the device and as a result they must deliver as promised.

Baba, this is not they told me to tell you. I've managed backends before so I know what to expect (the thoroughputs) and how to get the right speed with the right equipment.

It's still unlimited if it get the job done as at when needed without any tweak.

The sand in question gets applied and then from time to time, you can apply new one and sweep it in. I would only apply if for example i used a jet/pressure spray to wash off the drive and it has swept off some of the sand.

But this is like once in years. Mind, this is an area/country that is least susceptible to flooding or standing water.

That zinc salt you talked about, which market will i find that one or do I have to go back to my chemistry secondary school grin. How can it be applied and whats the mix ratio, and lastly I hope its not prohibitively expensive. Will using stone dust as a base also help since vegetation shouldn't grow on pure stone dust/stone dust swept in between the spaces ?

The zinc salts are a bit expensive and not sold in commercial quantities.
You can specifically use calcium hypochlorite. It's sold as chlorine powder at ojota. It's very common there and cheaper. Not up to N1000 per kg.
I've bought and used it before. It's safe to handle and has much lower solubility in water. Si it won't leach out in water easily.
It's a form öf bleach also and is used in water treatment.
It will be slow acting and last long. I tried dissolving it and the actual solubility is even lower than the information provided.
5% usage is ok. That means you mix 1kg to 20 kg of dry laterite soil or any high compacting soil type.
I think using stone dust as the base too would help reduce the quantity needed and help prevent easy washing off by water.
Side benefit of laterite is that it dries hard and doesn't easily support vegetation. Small quantities of cement like 15% can be added to the 20kg batch mixture to further prevent softening of the laterite on exposure to water.

There was a place I was reading about building construction in a swampy area, very big logs of wood were played down on the ground before the foundation was set up. From the article, that seemed to be aan affordable, reasonable an archaic method of building in a swampy area back then. So what is that kind of foundation called, the type that sits on huge logs of wood in a swamp..? Thanks as I anticipate your answer.
Stay away from swamp . If you are planning to build in one but if you are just trying to increase knowledge fire down.

Not to the best of my knowledge. It's used in water treatment. The calcium hypochlorite is much safer than the zinc, lead and copper salts, which are heavy metals. Part reason I didn't mention zinc again.
I didn't bother to seriously wash my hand with calcium hypo unlike the zinc sulphate.

Good day All,

my question will be to the expert in the house. A raft foundation was made for the my building project, while the next phase is to do the filling of the foundation . But my Builder recommend we can do without the filling by just doing the DPC suspended which will leave space between the DPC and the earth below. He actually suggested this idea considering my budget, trying to save me cost for the filling and also confirmed he has done same for a construction he did in the same estate.

Despite my lean budget, am skeptical about the idea hence why a seeking advice from the professionals here too

Note that the structure is a 4 bedroom duplex

Good to know.

For me, concrete floor using stone dust and sand or ceramic/brick driveway tiles will do. The ones put to test 40 months ago have never had any issue since installed. No weeding, no maintenance or repairs.

Why we don't us those kind of wood for roofing?

I am not an expert but I can't buy that idea. Don't try it cos doing a raft foundation means that land isnt a dry land. I will advice you to save more, do the DPC (which will ofcus add weight to your foundation) and watch the foundation if it will sink or not before you start the block work.

NB: If your power no carry duplex, build a big bungalow. Police no go catch u cheesy I hate to see abandoned uncompleted houses especially ppl that build more than their 20years salary.

Oga he is running wire for a duplex. Re 10mm I have run for 8 flats he do even with Nepa staff stealing some when they connected meter and for 6 flats he still remain. Generator house or no generator house and both na 3 phase.

.
allCopacetic:

Lol madam,
and you know this how? @ bolded

You cannot safely arrive at such a conclusion unless you know:

-if the connection to the D/board is single or three phase,
-The number of boards to be fed
-The distance (along the counduit path) between each board and meter/power house
- the generator set up and location. the 10mm is most likely going to be run for the gen aswell.

The question about the TV cable would be...."coils of how many meters each ?" .. 10 is obviously not practical anyways.

That could be OK with pile foundation, certainly not raft. Fill the spaces and let the building gain more balance

But madam gabby, everybody's house does not share the same electrical plan as yours, things are located differently and the piping network is different. I'm not saying 5 is not too much ...neither am I saying 2 is too little, the point I'm making is you cannot generalize without having certain information at hand first.
There are houses where the gen sets are placed as far away from the building as possible, and the travel path from the supply termination point in the building to the generator is in excess of 30mts, for a 3phase generator that translates to 120mts, thats over a coil already.
In your house the meters and d/ boards might be just 5mts apart for every flat , while in some other house it could be thrice that distance, you never know.
And three phase supply does not just mean having three different lines or having a three phase board, you can have both and still have a single phase connection to the board which is what obtains 90% of the time and what is likely the case in your house too . unless you're about to tell me you got three phase meters for your tenants.

thats the point bro, what gets the job done for A might not get the job done for B.
How many people consume up to 30GB of data in a month , let alone 60GB.
for such fair users they might never experience any throttling. because they're still with fair usage. But for heavy users who like to download the internet in one night, they quickly exceed that threshold and thier speed gets throttled.

and if talk about speeds.....
