It should not be about anyone of these idiots. They have lost sight of the most important person in their pathetic and childish soap opera. Mayowa is the integral part of this story and her health is what matters. Everyone else should take twenty steps back! Police and hospital authorities all need to shut up too!! How thick can people really be? Ffs!

It's obvious the family of the sick girl played a fast one on the public.. They solicited for funds on behalf of the sick girl when they were yet to contact any hospital willing to admit her in the U.S.. The email exchange between a member of the family & a "supposed"representative of Emory hospital in Atlanta isn't authentic, any idiot can come up with that.. How did they arrive at $100,000 for hospital bill?
It's just so sad that this incident ll change the mindset of folks willing to help others.
The family were looking to cash out on their daughter's predicament.. Sad

Seconded!

They wanted to disappear with the money and let mayowa die. So much for family love.

I can't help it to think that one of the family members was up to something and when the story went public, he/she retracted his/her steps.

Sadly the most important person in this story has been relegated to the background. Can't they just push all this drama aside and focus on the ailing lady?
if you just step back abit & read all reports from all parties involved, it's obvious the family never made any plans for a medical tourism on behalf of the sick girl. They first solicited for funds and were overwhelmed with the positive response from the public..
They saw money & had to made an impromptu plan of flying to UAE to justify money spent.. When we both know UAE isn't known as a destination for medical tourism

The family saw $100000 and the story changed and Toy in and other volunteers became a suspect!

The power of money
The family does not really care for Mayowa but their own selfish gains.
I blame Aramide since she championed this cause, her Foundation should have handled it all then give account to Nigerians and the Family.
She is trying to help next time she has to handle it wel

that's why I refused to make any comment on this story prior to this time...A sane person knows stories have different versions.

we heard only from d family and started judging every other person involved.

This is what I perceive:
They (the family) started out well. When the campaign began, the intention was to save Mayowa. Then the money came in too fast, over and above what they needed or imagined. Then "funny" thoughts crept in. They had other ideas on how the money could be spent. Someone blew the whistle forcing them to retrace their steps. Because they've retraced their steps the public might never know their true intentions.

When you give out help to others, you give it because of your own conviction and believe if it turn out that the person that receive the help lied then its left to the person concise.

Obviously the family had given up on the poor girl before money came and they started last minute effort to take her abroad. Both ladies avoided answering to the accusations that they wanted a part of the donations and wanted to 'accompany' Mayowa abroad. NGOs pay bills, run offices and pay staff; the money has to come from somewhere. The entire thing is just an elaborate misunderstanding that could have been better handled.

Aramide and Toyin are greedy. They started the scam rumour because they realized no part of the money was going to them for their "selflessness."

I watched some YouTube videos about the whole story. I believe the whole story is just one big misunderstanding based on ego, lack of understanding of the process and presence of gbeborun(gossip mongers).

I do not think the family was trying to scam Nigerian's, but I feel they did not tell Nigeria n's the whole truth about their plans.
you can't use that to blame them anyway cus their initial wrong moves could have been affected by lack of funds and bad advice (especially from Nigerian doctors).

I also don't think toyin did something wrong, she also has to maintain the means by which she helped them raise the money na, why did the family now want to push her away when the money is complete.

Linda is a gbeborun, a certified ameBo(don't look at it as a bad thing o), so don't blame her too!

I wish they would have handled it better, if the doctor says it's terminal, it does not stop the family from still trying to save her life( if that's what they are trying to do), but they must be truthfull about it when going public, Nigerian's are very serious about trust and money issues.

And the family is not greedy ? Even if it is true they asked for part of the money what is wrong with that. It is people like you that makes it difficult for people to help others. Even the bible says a laborer is worth its wages. Why do we think things should be free in Nigeria? Even for the richest man in the world (Bill Gates) to help you, there will be conditionalities attached even if not monetary. I dont think the richest charity in the world, Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation, helping Africa on HIV Aids, Polio and malaria issues is doing it totally for free. Am sure there will be conditionalities to be met by beneficiary countries. Western countries aids to developing countries have conditions attached sometimes human rights or democratic government. Nigerians should stop this Religious belief of free-lunch!!! Ever heard the saying " No free lunch in China" ? And China is a super-power nation.

The best thing to do here as observers is to take a chill pill and wait to see how this drama ends. Taking sides ain't the best thing to do right now, everyone involved in this saga has his or her own version of the story to tell and no one is going to say what won't favor them.

Ethnicity has really beclouded some people sense of reasoning. Everything is now seen in that light and I think it is a sign of inferiority complex. When someone is better than you, you can't stop talking about them.
