With all due respect, I think it's balderdash to believe that physically 'tiny' players won't be effective on the pitch.

Have the coaches not been watching Barca and Spain for the last 6-7 years? Their physically brittle players have won multiple trophies within the period by playing scintillating footie.

If the Omidji girl is skillful, I don't see why the coaches can't incorporate her into their plans.

Despite her exclusion from the Falconets’ provisional squad, the prodigy reveals she will do all it takes to represent the country in Papua New Guinea
EXCLUSIVE By Shina Oludare Follow on Twitter

FC Eindhoven Women youngster Sophia Omidiji still fancies her chances of playing for Nigeria at the 2016 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup.

The 19-year-old forward who is disenchanted following her exclusion from coach Peter Devdevbo’s 30-player provisional squad, says she will keep working hard to make the final cut.

“I was in tears not seeing my name in the provisional list and presently, that makes me feel sad,” Omidiji told Goal.

“All my life, I have been training hard to get the chance of representing my country of birth because that is my only dream.

“There is still time so I’ll continue working and training hard, hopefully, I will make the final list when it comes out.

“One thing is sure, I am destined to represent Nigeria at the 2016 Fifa Women’s World Cup and I am very positive that I’ll make it and everything will end up coming together.”

The Falconets must negotiate their way past Spain, Canada and Japan in Group B to reach the knockout phase and Omidiji feels the country can emerge as world champions.

“Definitely, it won’t be easy because other teams are also gunning for the trophy,” she continued.

“We have what it takes to emerge as champions, but we must find ourselves as a team. If that is done coupled with hard work, we will return home with the title.”

Nigeria face Japan in their first game on November 13, 2016 at the Bava Park, Port Moresby.

[/size]

By The NFF

Ahead of their group phase clash with Brazil on Saturday, at the 5th FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, Nigeria’s U17 girls, Flamingoes resumed training on Wednesday afternoon at the Al Wehdat Training Field, Amman with all 21 players participating actively. The girls were also scheduled to train at the same venue on Thursday.

The Nigeria team had arrived Amman on Tuesday morning, after flying from Abuja to Dubai and connecting another Emirates Airline flight from Dubai to the Jordanian capital.

Earlier on Wednesday, officials of world football –governing body FIFA conducted the team arrival meeting where Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was presented with Nigeria's plaque and all the players were given Certificate of Participation. Also at the team arrival meeting, every member of the team was accredited, while various issues on the tournament like venue contact information, stadium and training facilities, pre and post match conferences and laws of the game were discussed in detail.

The 5th FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will start on Friday. A total of 16 countries will battle for honours in the three Jordanian cities of Amman, Irbid and Al Zarqa.

The girls look big! Surely they can handle the physicality of the English girls, orb the Germans.

BTW, I'm predicting a 3-0 win for the Flamingoes tomorrow.

It seems that cameroonian team is very good, they also walloped Brazil by 2goals to nothing. They may be the golden generation for the camerounian senior women team.

Which local stations going to broadcast the matches?

Fifa U-17 Women's World Cup (Jordan 2016).

Venezuela (conmebol champions) 1-2 Germany (European champions)

Mexico 5-0 New Zealand.

Cameroun leading 2-1 against canada. (Not surprised at all... Not after they beat Brazil 2-0 in a pre-tournament friendly).

Canada makes it 2-2 against Cameroun. STRATIGAKIS successfully converts the
penalty awarded.

Cameoroun should be cautious here. They won't wanna end this game without something.

They sure look big but i think it takes more than physical fitness to win games, you have to sound technically too.

It seems apart from Argentina on the world stage, and then Egypt, lvory coast, and Algeria in Africa, all great teams in men's football, are quite good on the female stage as well.
