OldBeer:foreign critics that said Black November was 'overdramatic'? They should shove their criticism where the sun don't shine. We like our movies the way they are, you must not appeal to the whites at all times. Let some things remain African The quest to be more American will kill the Africanness of an African brand. We already have enough with everyone trying to sound 'foreign' 12 Likes 2 Shares |

The wedding party is overhyped abeg. I watched it. Nice picture, Good camera angles but some characters were too dramatic. Sola sobowale was too dramatic abeg. The movie was just good not excellent. My opinion. |

Nollywood has really stepped up its game. Kudos to the actors, directors and producers that made it happen. And of course this is one sector GEJ got it right, truth be told. He really supported the industry. 2 Likes |

They're cool, but the good old classics are still the best. Those were real home and family entertainment. They told African stories the African way. That's the only Nollywood I know |

Re: Review Of Nollywood In 2016. by Nobody: 11:40am On Jan 01, 2017 |
harry41: am not surprised. it was hyped to the high heavens before it's release. same as the way trip to Jamaica was hyped and everyone who later saw it was disappointed because the movie did not meet their expectations. when it comes to Nollywood movies, the only hype I believe is the one from the audience who have seen it. Bad movies are always overhyped before it premiers, the producers wanna get thier money before the viewers know they have been scammed |

Joavid: You are quite right about the psychology behind hyping: 'A trip to Jamaica' readily comes to mind-I see this particular movie and 'Brother jekwu' as the worst movies of the year. However, the movie 'wedding party' which I saw just yesterday, is not that bad. It is a relatively good movie especially when u compare with most Rom-Com movies churned out lately in Nigeria. It is not excellent, but, for me it was a good way to end the year 2016 movie-wise....it gave a glimmer of hope that things would get better in the Nigerian movie industry... |

After watching the Wedding Party (my first in a cinema. It was hilarious), I decided it's time to begin watching movies. Hitherto, I saw movie watching as signs of unemployment. Thread bookmarked for future reference. At least, one per month. |
