And where did you read sacking of workers as the reason for the shut down? Which Mod moved this incomplete thread to the frontpage? He said, “In view of this, the union has directed all workers in Total downstream to stop work until the management allows workers to unionise and slave labour introduced are cancelled. Ok. This kinda thing only happens when they refuse to sort the so called people preventing work activities there now. And by sort I mean bribe. Other than this nobody really gives a fvck about those workers. 1 Like |

Nothing can be done when the nation is directionless, the economy is on a free fall, business are collapsing, revenue share are shrinking, the company is only applying basic economics to scale down their expenses which includes staffing. Even the govt owned parastatals are sacking their staff, banks are sacking, including the so called govt takeover banks so tell me why the oil and energy sector should pretend to be immune to the global economic downturn. These guys should channel their energy to the government of the day that have messed up our economy and not the private company trying their best to keep head above water in a very unfriendly economy. They reserve the right to close shop like others have done, they committed no crime to come and invest here, afterall they didnt complain that they discriminated against Nigerians in their employment, they didnt complain of differential salary for Nigerian workers and their french or foreign counterparts. As far as I am concerned the agaitation is wrongly directed. The useless govt wont talk in matters like this because it favours them to hide underneath. SMH 8 Likes |
