I don't want to bug you with the story of my life. I'm 18, dad is a successful business man, so is mum. I want to be an independent guy. I don't like asking for my needs or wants from them. I don't have a beef with them thou. I just need a roof from them before I get mine. I gat two jobs that gives me change. programming (because I don't have a lappy) and photography(a stressful business wit change as well). I finished schooling 3 years ago. and all my efforts to get into the university isn't going well. mind u, I get good jamb scores but d admission just won't come. I've kinda given up on schooling for now I just want to give my life a little shape. But with d change I make, I can't go anywhere. pls nairalanders, I need ur advice on how I can go about making cool money... if na hustling, I fit do am. I jus need ideas... I would be making nothing less than 10k this week thou... but I just need advices on the kind of business that would help me completely independent of my parents... thanks in anticipation. With your attitude, you sound like a person that will eventually go places. Most successful people start by having the kind of 'confusion' - and the attitude - you presently have at this age. This phase of your life will eventually pass, as your way of thinking will motivate you to explore positive ideas that come your way. You don't sound like a person that likes to be idle. Good. Try and also let you parents know your worries; much as you would like to be independent, their advice, including some support for your programming and photography businesses, by complementing your own efforts, could go a long way to speed up your journey towards full independence. How about you stay under their care, and also work on your businesses? I know right now, you want to explore and 'have the time of your life', but trust me, it'll pass. Truth is, you are NOT ready to be on your own yet. And yes, you can take a break from schooling, it's called a 'Gap Year', and it can really turn out to be a defining moment in your life.

Go take time out to figure how to get a laptop that will handle your programming needs, and as you go on, get a professional camera for your photography. Find a way to legitimately get the money from your parents. Ask them reasonably, and I guess they'd be willing to oblige you.

But, this is not to say you've quit schooling. No, you're only exploring your passions, and seeing where life might take you one year from now.
