Hehehehe! Add the £ 1m : to the £3.7m pound Liverpool-fc sold him, we have not even added the money Granada and Bordeaux payed ooooooo, then substrate the result from the £3.4 M Liverpool bought him, how much is the profit Liverpool made from his sales? grin grin grin

Bhuuuhahaha! Where is the 50% loss? shocked shocked grin

Do you call that gain or loss? grin

You no sabi anything, ba!? shocked grin
You don't have the details of his contract with Reading.

Just like I discovered that his deal with Liverpool was worth 7M in total but 3.75M was paid up front with remaining balance as performance added bonuses this is exactly how standard contracts are drafted.

His said contract with Reading in totality is worth 3.5M, Reading might have paid just a chunk of the money upfront with the remaining balance added as performance related clauses which brings the deal to the said 3.5M.... No club in the world pays the entire outlay of a contract up front. Basically contracts are drafted in view of being performance oriented. Certain terms and conditions are met before certain percentages are paid. For example, Liverpool are due some payments if Reading gain promotion, if Thiago Ilori makes certain number of appearances, if he gets capped by his national team etc... Whenever these clauses are met, Liverpool will be due to get some remittance. The entire sum when all these clauses are added brings the deal to 3.5M.
You're obviously not a football man, if you are I wouldn't have to go this far to explain contracts to you but take it as one of those things you learnt today grin

Having gone through the paces to explain these details to you, I hope you now get what I mean that Thiago Ilori's is on a steady decline and Liverpool ran at a loss with their investment on him. The 1M Aston Villa invested in his loan deal also was a huge loss to Aston Villa because he made no single appearance.
Thiago Ilori is what we call dead wood. grin
Bad market grin

Forgiveness,

I am impressed by your open-minded approach and willingness to consider all options.

I have mentioned Obagoal but nobody apart from you has really given him consideration. Young player that we are talking about are largely unproven. We can not dismiss older players on account of age and or there is a possible new better kid on the block.

How many of our young promising strikers have achieved what Obagoal has achieved. Martins could be our most consistent striker over the last 10 years everywhere he has gone he has scored goals.

What's his performance level like now? Now as much as we think the Chinese league is a weak one. They will not be spending big chunks of money on dead strikers, they are not stupid. You now have a lot of world class strikers there now.

In this regard I can no longer say the Chinese league na moi moi. Comparatively is the Greek, Turkish, Bosnia, and Nordic leagues better, I doubt this currently.

So what about OBAGOAL don't know if he can still cut it

Your point about Obafemi is well constructed,I totally agree.
However,if we're to consider Obafemi, I think we should also consider Peter Utaka.

Back in the day when he was still playing Street football in Nigeria a lot of us were of the opinion he was the more talented Utaka.

Mikel, Ighalo and Ideye. That's all.

I will take Obafemi Martins over Ighalo. We've given Ighalo too many chances, we've been very unfair to Martins despite his high goal ratio for the Eagles.

Hehehehe! He has little quality yet he played in the Portuguese Liga, La Liga and Ligue 1.!? shocked grin

Did you even bother to read the article I showed you?

Oh! I see, you stylishly ignored it and pretended as if there was nothing like that. Continue!? grin

Well, you have said it all. It is truly ya opinion. That's all. grin

There has been a trend by Sporting which is at the centre of this approach. To give youngster who show promise opportunities in the first team. Then sell them off as exceptional players. That's Sporting business model.

I didn't omit or ignore your article just did not consider it to have enough credence to sway my opinions.

My deductions are not coined from newspaper articles or the comments of supposed informed pundits who may or may not have vested interests or are talking from hearsay.

But my opinion emanates entirely from first hand observations. I have watched him Tiago Ilori train and play up front, close and personal. On the other hand you have chosen to ignore my observations which are first hand.

If there is any handicap I have its probably I have a higher standard quality expectation for players to be considered for the G. Eagles.

His deal with Liverpool was valued at 7M if he came good. But he didn't come good hence, Liverpool paid only 3M+ grin

Just like the Liverpool contract, Reading aren't paying 3.7M up front. grin. They are likely paying half of that or less grin added performance based bonus will be paid if he meets those salient clauses which will push the deal up to the 3.75M valuation.

By the way, here's an article about Thiago Ilori. In this article he was labelled as one of the biggest flops of Brenda Rogers and about 1M in waste for Aston Villa grin
Jurgen Klopp may not have to spend big in January after all as the club are expected to welcome one of the many on-loan defenders back to the club this month in an attempt to ease the club's rearguard woes.
Tiago Ilori is rated as one of Brendan Rodgers' most expensive flops after singing for the Reds in 2013 for a rumoured £7 million deal from Sporting Lisbon, before spending two entire seasons out on loan with Granada and then FC Girondins de Bordeaux,
The Portuguese has spent the first half of this season on loan at Aston Villa but has not played a single minute under Tim Sherwood or Remi Garde with both men unimpressed by the defender

The 22-year-old has had his own injury problems but despite returning to full fitness, he is still kicking his heels on the bench at Villa Park
which has alerted Liverpool to his willingness to return to Anfield.
The defender can play at right back and centre-half and, before his career stalled, was seen as a one of the brightest young Portuguese talents to emerge from the country, having played 10 times for the country's U21 side.

Liverpool make profit on Tiago Ilori as Portuguese defender completes Reading move

Liverpool have sold Tiago Ilori to Reading for £3.75million
The former Sporting Lisbon centre-back has failed to make the cut with the Reds in his three years at the club
Tiago Ilori has completed a £3.75million move to Reading – which means Liverpool have made a profit on the Portuguese defender.

The 23-year-old signed for the Reds in 2013 for £3.5million from Sporting Lisbon, with bonuses potentially taking the deal up to £7million.

The clubs agreed a deal last week with Liveroool cleverly agreeing a 25 percent sell-on clause in the contract, report the Liverpool Echo.

The centre back moves to the Royals to aid their promotion push, with Jaap Stam’s side currently third in the Championship.

Are you new to the national team?

We have tried both players on several occasions. They are not capable replacements for Mikel.

We know what Ogu and Raheem can bring to the national team.

Instead we just convert Etebo to a CM. You saw how he played that role against Egypt and Algeria.

No room for needless forward and backwards testing.

Which several occasions? Can you tell me the numbers of matches Raheem Lawal played for the national team?

Which one did he start/play from start to finish?

John Ogu case is now different. He is playing regularly and well for his club hence the need to be given another chance.

Raheem Lawal and Oju are better CMF than Etebor.

@ Forgiveness,

For RB u listed: Brian Idowu, Tyrone Ebuehi, Musa Mohammed and Nura Abdulahi.

I will aslo include Shehu Abdulahi, since I dnt mention him as part of the DMF.

I cannot rate Idow and Ebuehi yet. Let them feature in any of the friendlies first. As for between Shehu and Musa. I would go for Shehu who is a more tested player and has also done creditably well. Musa Mohammed is still developing. Nura Abdulahi, well, he belongs to the group of John Lazarus and Sincere Seth. RBs of the future.

Idowu and Ebuehi are the only options we have now. We must make sure they're integrated into the team very well. Moses Odubanjo has for sure agreed to play for Nigeria and if he is out of injury, we should give him a chance to prove himself.

If Nura Abdullahi starts making Roma's bench then we should give him a call.

Musa and Shehu no dey my list.

He didn't meet up to the performance contract clauses in his contract.

Initial transfer fee
€1,880,000 upon Ilori’s registration to play Liverpool
€3,000,000 by July 2014 (note: we signed Ilori in August 2013)
Total transfer fee = €4.88m
Performance bonus:
15 Liverpool apps = €500,000
30 Liverpool apps = €500,000
45 Liverpool apps = €500,000
Total performance bonus = €1.5m
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/423h2i/full_details_of_tiago_ilori_transfer_leaked/
He didn't meet any of those required clauses in his Liverpool contract. That's why he's a failure and bad investment grin

Atleast you don learn a thing or two about players contracts today grin
You should thank me for this info I dey download give you grin..

Have a look at his Reading contract ;

The pacy centre-back has penned a three-and-a-half year deal until summer 2020 and could make his Royals debut at Derby County this Saturday (3pm ko).
The official fee for Ilori is 'undisclosed,' but it believed to be in the region of £3m which includes appearance bonuses and add ons , topping the £2.5 Reading forked out for Nantes flop, Emerse Fae, in 2007.
http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/15030788.Reading_FC__Royals_break_transfer_record_to_sign_Tiago_Ilori_from_Liverpool/

Read the bolded carefully oh.... The Reading deal of about 3M includes add ons and appearance bonuses, you can see similarities with the Liverpool contract earlier BASED ON APPEARANCES AND ADD ONS. In reality, Liverpool have not made a gain from his transfer because Reading did not make an upfront payment of 3M.
If you can't understand this simple breakdown then I can't help you.
Even his Aston Villa deal if one is to scrutinise the terms and conditions binding on the contract, Villa would not have payed a dime to Liverpool because he didn't make a single appearance for them all season.

I wonder what it is you will gain by hawking this straw man all over the place. Seriously, am curious.

i like obafemi martins alot but for some reason his career in the super eagles has always been start stop. a player like yakubu ayeigbeni who is not as talented as martins enjoyed longevity in the national team and racked up goals but obafemi could never maintain that consistency. if he's still in form then he could be a valuable stop gab until our younger strikers mature and hit form.

although looking at it in another way the current formation that we employ in the super eagles might not be suited for martins 4-2-3-1 unless we use a system that will deploy 2 strikers because i think martins works best with a strike partner

Peter Utaka deserves a call to camp if we can be considering youth players who are essentially unproven of which some are in low standard football leagues . Then definitely seasoned pros should also be considered and given a chance to compete for a shirt.

However, in comparison Obagoal has much superior pedigree than Utaka.

Peter Maduabuchi Utaka (born 12 February 1984 in
Enugu ) is a Nigerian footballer with a Belgian passport currently playing for Sanfrecce Hiroshima on loan from Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse . He is the younger brother of John Utaka . [1]

Utaka moved to Croatia as a 16-year-old to play in Dinamo Zagreb after trying his luck at Ismaily where his older brother John was a cult figure and in the United Arab Emirates. In 2003 he moved to Belgium from Dinamo and signed for K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen of the 2nd division. KVC Westerlo moved to sign him the following season, and in his first season in the top flight and the transfer was worth 250 000 euro.
He joined Royal Antwerp FC in January 2007 where he became a first team regular, and he helped Antwerp qualify for the playoffs, finishing second. He also emerged top scorer with 22 goals and capped hs glorious season, winning the Best Striker's Award. He also put more gloss on his breath-taking performance that season, claiming the Most Valuable Player's award over eight times, making him one of the most feared strikers in Belgium. On 30 August 2008, it was announced that Utaka would join Danish club OB . [2] for an undisclosed fee.
Utaka joined Danish side OB in 2008. In his first season, he finished joint fourth place on the scorers list, while he led all scorers in his second season. He finished with 18 goals in 33 matches, the first time in five years an OB player was top scorer in the league (last was Steffen Højer in 2004–05 with 20 goals). His Danish team- OB included also two former Manchester United players- Roy Carroll and Eric Djemba-Djemba and another former French international player- Bernard Mendy.
In January 2012, Utaka moved to Chinese Super League club Dalian Aerbin . He scored 20 goals in 28 games in his first season, playing alongside former Barcelona players such as Fabio Rochemback and Seydou Keita, as well as former Australian International player Mille Sterjovski and former PSG player Guillaume Hoarau. He also scored 11 consecutive fixtures to establish a new C-league record. He transferred to Beijing Guoan on 9 July 2013 in 2M Euro transfer. That made him the most expensive international signing in the history of the club. He also played with former Sevilla and Mali captain- Freddy Kanoute. [3] Utaka made 15 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for the club, before he was loaned to Shanghai Shenxin during summer transfers in 2014, managing to score only four times in thirteen appearances in all competition for the Shanghai outfit.
In January 2015, Utaka transferred to J1 League -club Shimizu S-Pulse . [4] The club faced a difficult season that year as they were battling relegation. At the end of the season, Utaka scored nine goals in 28 appearances, and the club ended up being seventeenth-placed, thus relegated into the J2 League .
The next year he was loaned to J1 League defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima . [5] He scored his first goal for the club in the Japanese Super Cup final, in a 3-1 win against Gamba Osaka . Utaka bagged his first goal in the J1 League on 12 March, scoring a 67th-minute penalty against Shonan Bellmare in a 2-2 draw at home. He scored his next in a 1-5 away thrashing against Omiya Ardija , scoring the opening in the 22nd minute.

International career
On 21 September 2009, national coach Shaibu Amodu selected Peter for the Nigerian national football team . Utaka made his debut for Nigeria months later in a 5–2 home win over Congo DR on 3 March 2010, despite only getting his call up late after the NFF called his mother looking for him. [6][7] He scored the first goal and assisted on the second. [ citation needed ] He scored twice against in a Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia . His first goal was the fastest goal in the qualifications-29secs.

Honours
Top goalscorer 2007–08 in the Belgian Second Division with 22 goals in 34 games
Top goalscorer 2009–10 in the Danish Superliga with 18 goals in 33 games
Chinese FA Cup Top goalscorer: 2013
J. League Division 1 Top Scorer: 2016

Clearly this dude is the best Nigerian striker in Asia with his record and on current form.
Emerging top scorer in every league he has played is a record any football player should be proud of.

Why he didn't play in a bigger stage is what I don't know but certainly not because of lack of ability.

Peter Utaka?

Why not lets also invite Obinna Nsofor, Chinedu Obasi, Taye Taiwo and Yakubu Ayegbeni. What did we achieve with those players?
Their era is gone!

Lets wait to hear about Taye Taiwo in Swiss top flight sha who knows?

So what about OBAGOAL don't know if he can still cut it
why u no go resurrect yekini instead of obagoal

i like obafemi martins alot but for some reason his career in the super eagles has always been start stop. a player like yakubu ayeigbeni who is not as talented as martins enjoyed longevity in the national team and racked up goals but obafemi could never maintain that consistency. if he's still in form then he could be a valuable stop gab until our younger strikers mature and hit form.

although looking at it in another way the current formation that we employ in the super eagles might not be suited for martins 4-2-3-1 unless we use a system that will deploy 2 strikers because i think martins works best with a strike partner

No No No, Obagoal is the perfect definition of a lone striker. He has the pacy, he is aggressive, the guy jumps higher than Cr7, he can dribble, he can do just about anything. I remember this game with Algeria in 2005 or so, he started as the lone forward, he scored either a hattrick or a brace. When Amodu came in during the tense 2010 world cup qualifications, he was mostly deployed as a lone forward. I believe that the only reason why people are asking for him is because we play a lone forward, and boy he can play that well enough
