ANAN Niger State Courtesy Visit And Plea For Niger State Library by nsbireda: 8:50pm On Feb 27, 2017
The Director, Niger State Book and Other Intellectual Resource Development Agency (NSBIREDA), Alhaji Hussaini Nma Baba received the members of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Niger State branch who were in a courtesy visit to the Agency on 27th February, 2017.
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Mallam Kamar Hamza who led the delegation spoke about the benefits of revisiting memorandum of understanding between ANA and NSBIREDA which include areas of collaboration such as technical support in book development, publications and promotions. He sought collaboration with the Agency to revive ‘writers spell’, a guest authorship programme modified to hold quarterly with the agency being proposed as the venue of the forthcoming edition billed 11th March, 2017.

A former Chairman of the Association, Mr. Nma Hassan Muhammad highlighted the terrible state of the Abubakar Imam Library Complex and the need for Government to come to its aid, stating that “the state of your library symbolizes your state of education”. He appealed to the Director for an office space in the Agency to hold their meetings as the state library which houses the ANA Secretariat is no longer conducive. Bala Jibrin Bala, former PRO of the association also appealed to the government for jobs for young writers.

In response to the comments from Kamar Hamza, Alhaji Hussaini Nma Baba re-assured the visitors of the commitment of the Agency to collaborate with relevant bodies for the good of Niger State while informing them of the proposals sent to the government concerning the training of Information officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), reviving the culture of debate among schools and other activities to promote and enhance intellectual property. In a move to show commitment towards the proceedings during the courtesy visit, a committee has been put together to re-visit the memorandum of understanding between ANAN and NSBIREDA and also suggest areas of collaborations in line with current trend. The Director, NSBIREDA also reminded the guests that NSBIREDA is home for writers and meeting at State chapter of ANAN can be held in the premises of the Agency. The visit came to a close after a prayer from Albert Akhuetie, serving NYSC corps member and proceeded for a group photograph involving NSBIREDA staff and ANAN delegation

All the comments above point to one thing, most youths no longer read books! They are more interested in getting "CONNECTIONS" to achieve their aims. Too bad! sad sad

There is a difference between ANAN and ANA. Dont use them interchangeably. ANAN is a Nigerian chartered accountants' association while ANA is what the thread is talking about.
