And to think that these are just "recruits" that just passed out from the rank-and-file, 9months training?
What would they do if they were commissioned officers or in a few years time when they are no longer recruits?

Chain of Command needs to discharge them and them bring the full weight of the law on them.
these sort will give the military a bad name in future, no question about that

Trully, soldiers can be brutal but lawyers also can be dramatic - said broken spinal cord. Lawyer need those pictures to sue for #500m . Soldiers - wahala. Lawyers - wahala is their work.

Really wonder whether you are a civilian or an advocate of the brute military! Even one slap from an ill motivated primitive brute of a soldier is enough to warrant the hardest case for brutality against civil society. The Point is this evil trend must be wiped out rather than the level of severity

Until there are severe and serious consequences.
This will not stop. Not with the police or the army. It is such a shame. Big shame.

The orientation of the average Nigerian is to abuse any privilege given. This applies to Politicians, the Army, the Police, the BRT ticket seller, the KAI Official, the Nurses, the Doctors, the Mechanics, the Lecturer etc.

It is such a shame.

The rate of army personnel's brutalizing civilians is becoming alarming. I witnesses one yesterday and I found out mist of these guys are actually the newly recruited.
Is this what the military is all about. Descending on hapless civilians for no just cause. The military hierarchy should take proactive steps to check these excesses.

This isn't the first time and it won't be the last either, because they keep getting away with it. The military protects its own when it involves brutalising 'bloody civilians'. Bloody civilians are to soldiers what jews are to cultists.

Soldiers are only punished when it involves acts of insubordination or going AWOL, almost all the time the top brass leaves the rank and file to their own devices when they aren't under any threat from them.

In a saner clime, these camouflaged hoodlums would be courtmartialled and dishonorably discharged, but at best here they'd spend a few days in the stockade and maybe some reprimanding.

From the op's post, it isn't clear if the lawyer is dead or not though.
If dead, RIP; if undead, get well soon and sue the hell outta these mofos.

This is why I have always called for localized police force where etheach LGA has its own police force with the local head of police being elected by the people during election season like they do in yanki. This national police model that we have is a failure. It fuels corruption and incompetence on a massive scale. When will we learn that it's the people living in the area who are best suited to fight crime in there area?

The only thing the Fed govt can do to help is to train the policemen via a national police institute that has campuses in every region (East, West, North, south) and not be involved in policing. It's because of the incompetence of the police that the military has been brought out of the barracks and unleashed on the citizenry.

They brutalize them and this dehumanizes them and they in turn unleash this on there fellow man. The truth is that the army is not supposed to be doing the job of the civilian police force but because of the country we are living in this is allowed to happen
