I am not dead! Man whose death reportedly triggered Hausa-Yoruba clash in Ife declares (exclusive photos, video)

One of the alleged reasons the Hausa-Yoruba clash in Ile-Ife, Osun state, degenerated into a big issue was the reported killing of a vulcaniser in the community by some Hausa men.

The man identified as Mukaila, works just beside the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) park close to the filling station in the community, and was said to have been killed before the crisis escalated.

More than 15 houses and shops were razed during the disagreement between the Hausas and their Yoruba counterparts on Wednesday, March 8, and most of the people affected are yet to recover from the incident.

During NAIJ.com's visit to the community on Saturday, March 18, some aggrieved Hausa residents practically dragged our correspondent to the vulcaniser's spot beside the road and were almost conducting the interview on his behalf.

With a crowd already gathering around NAIJ.com crew on ground, we had to bow to pressure and ask the man if the allegations were true.

When approached and questioned,nMukaila told NAIJ.com that there was never a time he was at risk of being lynched by the Hausas.

As a matter of fact, he said he had fled his place of work since the same day the crisis escalated and only returned on Friday, March 17.

" But I was hearing reports from different quarters that I was dead and that the Hausas killed me during the crisis. "I thank God that I am alive. I was not even attacked by anybody during the crisis. I only left because I work close to the place where the incident was really tough," he told our correspondent in Yoruba.

Our findings also revealed that shops belonging to Hausas were the ones which were destroyed during the crisis while those of the Yorubas were not tampered with. NAIJ.com will publish a comprehensive report on why this was so and the exact number of people who died during the fracas in a more comprehensive report

Now some people on other threads of Ife crisis especially on FFk's article will bury themselves in shame. FFK is a useless liar likewise his Nairaland hypocrite sympathizers.

is this not the so called beheaded man.

Points From The Original Post

* Hausa Did Not Kill As Earlier Said by useless FFK and hypocrite Media

* Hausa never attack him or threaten him before or now.

* Only Hausa business centers were vandalized

* Yoruba souls and shops remain intact.

Cc: Mynd44 Lalasticlala this is counterbalance to what FFK have said in his article.

Are you okay angry Why bring me into this sh!t again. There's a law in physics that says "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". If someone wasn't killed those senseless goats wouldn't have retaliated in that manner. Remember there were different versions of what really transpired before the fight.

It is over the media cannot longer be used to blackmail us.

FFK is a sick fellow and I never even read his version of what happened. Whatever caused the onslaught doesn't matter anymore, the host felt disrespected and reacted. And cut the crap about genocide bullsh!t, your abookis fought back but were only outnumbered and overpowered. I'm sure you'll be singing a different tune if it was the other way round. Bottom line, what happened has happened. It's all in the past now, let's move on.

We all know FFK exaggerated in his piece, but trying so hard to make people see what is not when you don't even know the road to Ife is quite funny.

When soldiers and Policemen assisted Hausas in Lagos in maiming Yorubas, you didn't come up trying to show that the Hausas started the fight first and ended up killing more Yorubas than they did them.

I don't support these senseless killings but if you'd would come out only when yours have been checked and properly managed, then you are no different from FFK. I have never read a comment from you, condemning the Fulani Herdsmen activities in Benue and Southern Kaduna. Link your wound and move on, and ask your folks to be more careful in relating with their hosts.

By the way, posting just a video when you clearly can't tell the man's location in Ifè is very funny. Biko, lick your wounds and forge ahead. The deads have been buried. Let everyone move on, please.

As someone with a lovely and caring mom (Yoruba) and relatives who are Yoruba, its been too painful for me to think about how my people were massacred by my other people. No matter how I think about it, it brings me nothing but pain.
To make matters worse, my maternal uncles are trying to claim victims and victors at the same time, they are too hypocritical to own up, its shameful.
An unreserved apology would have doused all tensions but they are too confused thinking this has made them warriors.
I read a report of an existing land disputes which case is still at the appeal court in which my maternal uncles try to displace my people of lands to which the late ooni oba sijuwade even endorsed the land to my people. I believe this is more appropriate reason for the organised massacre.
I pray my people will practice restraint because as bad as it is, my maternal uncles are still my people.
Its just like a child support one of his parents to attack the other.
And a piece of advice to my maternal uncles, don't be deceiving yourselves because you attacked and killed some traders.
Fighting a Hausa trader is different from fighting an aggrieved Hausa man who seeks nothing but his own demise, so also it is different from attacking and killing a Fulani.

Aren't you just pathetic? Did you really see the interview or you're just reading the transcript?

According to the man, he was not even at Sabo when the issue escalated. As a matter of fact, he said he left before 10am, prior to the fight and hasn't been around for about a day or two. For some reasons, those who know where he is stationed became worried and concluded he has been killed in the fight.

Well, this is not even the main issue. He was not the NURTW fellow that was attacked.

And stop being butt hurt, please. Opening threads here and there and writing a letter that no one would read would not solve a thing.

I'd rather you use this medium to preach to your ilks that they learn to be respectful and co-exist with their host, but I'm sure as hell that they won't read it.

Lives were lost, true, but it was obvious. If it were Yoruba lives, I am sure you would not be opening threads in this manner.

No. You concluded he was beheaded not just killed in the fight. Meanwhile no Yoruba soul or property was lost.

Well, this is not even the main issue. He was not the NURTW fellow that was attacked.

Unless you people learn to accept the truth don't expect us to be silent. The hypocrite claim victory and victim at the same time.

Continue to celebrate and blame Hausa's for the evil and atrocities of Yoruba people. You expected us to be silent and allow you to keep cooking lies to cover up your massacre? Then you never see something. Gone are the days.

You expect us to open thread and say Hausa cause the fight and they should apologize for being killed like rats in Ife while there dead bodies are buried in mass grave.

Small thing you can castigate the whole north, Islam blabla blabla and you want us to sweep this evil under the carpet.

God dash Mumu sense.

Sincerely ,stop playing the victim. .aregbesola donated money to hausa community, senator omoworare donated relief materials to them. What do your governors do when you go about killing people?

You should be happy that some where arrested and have been taken to abuja.

The killers of madam Bridget slaughtered in Kano, where are the killers?

What about the woman in abuja?

C'mon, i lost my grandma to riots in the north. I lost my uncle to kaduna riots ...till today no justice.

So STFU and let the police do their jobs
