it's funny that Nigerians are being decieved that we have the infrastructure to counter a conventional air threat.

we are just lucky to be surrounded by poor countries.

dropping bombs on insurgents with zero air defence capabilities is totally different from fighting a conventional air threat.

hate to break it to you but for the sake of passing the right info to those who actually are here to learn, our rolands(God knows if they still function) that haven't seen recent upgrade, our outdated ARADU(if not stripped already) and manpads is not worth bragging about. a decent airforce with 4th generation aircrafts will stroll in our airspace with ease.

only few countries in africa can brag of adequate air defence systems and SA and Nigeria are none

but here, who wants the truth when we can keep decieving ourselves and laugh over itgrin.
thank you Bros

I can categorically tell you that France will beat the South Africans in their airspace, coast and home soil anytime, any day. France has the most sophisticated and best trained military in Europe.

Comes down to logistics. Could the deploy and maintain that deployment so far south. One thi g to send a fleet half way arround the world it is another to stay on stastion for years. Rember south africa is arround twice the size of france.

France alone does not have logistical system to maintain the war for years. South africa does not need to win only not loose. Witch is not that hard since france cant. Send 100% of there army navy and air force down south to us. All so what if we sink there only air craft carrier hell we dont even need to sink it just dry dock it. There goes most of the air power. Now it will be air craft that needed lo g flights depended on mid flight refueling. Wepaons load will be limted and pilots fatigued and they have only a few air fields far enogh south.

Navy is a threat. They have the numbers to simply over whelm SAN but the Subs will be a big threat. Ground forces will be mostly light french forces at first VABs ERC and AMXs serries. We can both fight and beat those with out a issue

Kasta-2E2 [39N6E Squat Eye] radar , algeria

The CASTA-2E2, also known as 39N6E, is a solid state, UHF-band, mobile radar intended to acquire airborne targets in intense clutter and jamming environment and to identify them as friend or foe (IFF) as well. It is suggested that the 39N6E radar is able to acquire stealth airborne targets . It can be integrated into air, coastal, border defense systems and air traffic control systems.

The CASTA-2E2 radar system comprises a hardware truck, antenna truck, and a mobile power station. The whole system can be airlifted by C-130/An-12 cargo aircraft.

Specifications
Performance: Ceiling 6,000 m (19,685 ft), Endurance 20 day, Max Range 150 km (81 nm), Min Range 5,000 m (16,404 ft), SetUp Time 20 min

The reality of the matter is that Nigeria has little to no air defense systems like you said our rolands are outdated and we have no other air defense systems. All we have are anti aircraft guns and no missile systems when it comes to war even a small European nation will defeat our so called air defense.
I would say in Africa only algeria and egypt should be bragging about having good air defense , egypt in particular have the best air defense network in africa
Let me quote you baba

Sea and air, but they'll have to work first... However on the ground it's would be something else. The distance from the coast to Pretoria would be a bloody graveyard. We would simply revive the South African Commando System overnight then that would add around over million militia (using their own small weapons) to stage an unconventional war.

An invading force would have to capture hundreds of towns and townships (to defeat hundreds of commando units) and as I said that would need a million soldiers or more with stunning logistics which no European country has.

Keep in mind that no human war has ever been staged on cities that are as big as the South African ones. There's no known doctrine on how to capture and control one.
To get here they would have to navigate past our subs...
And we are all very well aware of what happened to a Nato fleet when only 1 SAN sub came up against them.....so imagine what 3 can do, our Valours however won't mean much!

As for air......mmmm! To get enough aircraft to SA from France would be extremely difficult, in the end however with over 100 Rafale they would out match us.

On the Ground i agree 100% no country has more nohow with regards to Guerrilla/COIN warfare than SA....after all we invented it an became experts at implementing and countering it......i highly doubt we would face them conventionally, but rather from the outset we would use our assets in an unconventional manner as in the Boer War.

having a look back at history, only a superpower/s have been able to successfully invade and hold land in SA, albeit with unprecedented losses to the point where one could almost classify it as only a tactical loss.

and lastly we talking about the fvcking french.

They could never get 100 air craft here. They willhave a very limted air cover. And that is usring african air bases in pupet countries.

At the start we would have a edge in conventional battle. With only a few light french forces we would have the edge in numbers and fire power. Our best chance is to hold ports for as long as we can and then destroy them if they fall. With out ports to off load at they will be at our mercy. Tge big problem is france is actually adpet at mobil war in African terrians they no America that needs to deploy with a starbucks and they are not as depended on air superiority as a lot of other countries.

Our advantge is

numbers. They could never deploy enough men

Home ground advantage. We know the terrain, the locals are many agrisve and armerd and we better of logically speaking

Superior fire power. The first wave of french would be lightly armerd. With VAB, ERC and AMX serriers. No MBT no tracked IFV and only a few support systems like ceasers. We could use our advantge in SPH and howitzers and more IFV, AFV and tanks to deadly effect.

this same mistake was what we made at the beginning of BH war amd reminds me of the days of beegeaglegrin.

we have it but it's secret even to the manufacturers who publish records of sales of such sophisticationgrin.

aside from our air defence guns which are in no way capable of enough to protect our airspace, it's a known fact that we lack the sophisticated medium to long range air defence systems no matter how you try to sugarcoat it.

In as much as we have limited capabilities in some aspects, believe we have no capable ADS at your own peril,my friend it seems you don't know what obtains behind veiled weapons acquisitions to wish our dear country is guilty off reasons best known to those in charge. Not everyone in the military is privy to these informations.

I believe you are the one beating your chest for no reason you are entitled to your believes but i still maintain my stance, Nigeria has shitty air defense. Even with our shady weapon procurement we have not gotten any advance air defense systems heck even our air force is not equipped to protect our airspace if they were we wouldn't be using alpha jets as our main stay attack aircraft
