Robbing a bullion van in the country where I live is a waste of time because there is a built in device that releases a unique dye which stains all the cash rendering it useless. It occurs when the safes are opened by unauthorised personnel or when the vehicle is hijacked. This is widely known in the country so no body bother wasting their time to rob bullion vans.

dye is installed on ATM machines and not bullion van

I really luv this post....wish it happens in nigeria everyday and just d bullion van and no life was lost.
it should happen to only politicians and new generation banks that will be removing 100 naira every week from our savings. Imagine 105 naira from 20 million customers per week. Our backs deserve dis kind of treatment from bad boys I swear.

I am a medical doctor ,live and practice in one of the European countries for 15 years now and I know my fact .I contribute on this forum based on the fact I have, dye is isntalled in the safes that are in bullion vans,in fact the is a button the driver of the bullion van can press that releases the dye as soon as the driver notices threat of immediate robbery.Get your facts before commenting. If you read my comment properly you will realise I said when the safe is opened by authorised person meaning the dye is the the safes.
Cash is put in safes here before loading on to the bullion van!

Sorry o buh which country actually?

It not important telling you the country but it's the fact,I have lived here for 15 years as a physician and I thought this should be a forum for people to learn and exchange genuine ideas.Robbers have pulled out whole ATM machines several years ago but that has stopped since the dye mechanism have been installed in the ATM hence waste of time if stolen as the cash will be stained and rendered useless.

They probably have military background.

Would you blame Bihari for this again... If it has happened in Nigeria , I know that's the comment of many. Your success does not lie in hands of anyone but yours. But this robbers are professionally trained o. I know they must have done strategic, tactical and operational plan .

Is that a bullion van or a mini truck cause I doubt if explosives can do such damage to a bullion van unless they used an RPG or some armour piercing missile or smfin

From your writing i know you want to show us you know much about weaponry. Simple question for you, where in the article did they mention the weapon used? Ordinary S40G can do much more damage.

Result of unchallenged xenophobic acts. Caution your citizens so that they don't important what you people cannot handle. Ask Nigeria. Book harm started small and is causing us a lot of money and engagements now from our military. Wiseup

The cash becomes useless to the robbers and in fact it can help in apprehending them as they may become stained by the dye which is not easily washed.
Concerning the money, new batches of currency with the same number will be printed to replace the damaged ones so there is no significant loss apart from cost of printing new cash to replace the damaged ones.Since it's a known fact in the country, robbers do not bother robbing bullion vans

Reminds me of the scene from that classic movie Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, in which a bullion train is blown to smithereens by the outlaw duo, causing one of the perpetrators to inquire from his accomplice, as dollar bills flutter about in the wind like autumn tree leaves: "You sure that was enough dynamite in there buddy?"
