ok we are talking about over speeding right?
This is when you drive faster than prescribed speed
ie if the speed limit is 30km/hr you drive 33 km/hr you are overspeeding
Real life experience below
I was coming frm North london going south so I took the tower bridge, it was early in the morning so no traffic, so i though I drive at just 30 miles per hour, 2 weeks later i got a speeding fine, I have overped Reason, that road was 20 miles per hour.Does this make any sense?

Very correct but it doesn't really nullify what I wrote. Those who set the limits must have had it mind that those are limits within which the driver can still be in control of his vehicle should something suddenly goes wrong. There has to be a criteria for setting speed limits. My view.

You overspeed when:
1. The speed u are travelling at is more than the speed limit of the road you are travelling on (3rd mainland bridge is 80km/hr, if u drive at a speed more than that, thats overspeeding)

2. The speed u re travelling at is beyond ur control

Nop, let me expand it,its has less to do with the driver but more to do with other road users.if in the Uk urban areas with no clear speed signage with street lights are 30 miles per hour limit unless stated otherwise.
They have scientific proof that a person hit at 30 miles per hour will survive.
Outside schools school limits is 20 miles per hour while inside yards ie bus park ets it reduced to 5 miles per hour.
now lets go to Germany, the Autobahn has no speed limit, you are required to drive as fast as you can handle. In the Autobahn there is nothing like Over speeding, it does not exist, hope this clears it.

Overspeeding means exceeding the speed limit for a road or street. Most express roads in Nigeria have a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h. Inside town however, it would depend on whether you're on a trunk, street, etc. Some private premises also have a maximum speed limit.

Overspeeding in terms is driving @ a speed your scared of and can't control. Listening your to how your car reacts gives you a hint if you can go further. Also don't ever drive on high speed with expired tyres no try am. With good tyres before you hit the highway check your tyre pressure ensure not over inflated. If Max tyre pressure is 44psi like mine and manufacturers pressure is 35psi. I reduce mine to 32psi before hit a 150km distance it should get to 35 and will get to 38 by the time I get to my destination.

MY regular speed is 140km/h and when the road is free 160km/h normal. Have only hit 190km/h in an attempt to challenge a Gwag I learnt my lesson shaa.

Well thats wrong the max speed in Nigeria at all time on teh Highway is 100 km per hour, so you are over speeding,If Road safety officials had a speed camera you would be done for it regardless of how your car looks or how experience you are.
DO not forget waht causes accidents is usually hazards along the way not your car.

The max speed in Nigeria isn't 100km/h. I have seen a sign post saying 120km/h can't remember exactly where. Road hazards involves a lot... Even other roads users. I remember two weeks ago when I was coming back from a wedding and a police officer driving one of these trucks that says KEEPING SAFER HIGH WAYS. The guy was simply in the middle of the road I was @80km/h he was making call while driving. So if you too many hazards on the road for me I don't hesitate to simply reduce down to 80 or 100.

Toyota Hilux 2015 model (tear leather) 140km/hr from Owerri to Onitsha express road, from Isuochi to Enugu nice road the same 140km other places 120,100,80 depends

But still this does not explain to OP waht over-speeding is, in some instance,50 km/hr can be overspeeding

There are speed limits on mosts roads and if they are non existent in areas he lives. Then commonsense dictates he should never exceed 40km/hr for City driving and maintaining an average of 90 to 100km on highways .

Also speed limits are not written in stone. As a driver he should watchful of areas. There are some days you drive through an area at 40km but due to market days you have to move at snail speed. You don't go 40 because the road dictates. Speed limits are just guides, road awareness and caution is of utmost importance.

When u are in abuja u will understand. When u are driving on a four lane road and u habe good tyres...
But to answer your question. ..overspeeding is moving at a speed which u have little control over your car...the higher the speed, the less your ability to maneuver or control. The road is free to the extent your eyes can see. .. assumption is the mother of all f... k ups...
Never assume the road is free...
Besides the difference between a car driving at 140 and the other driving at 100km/h is barely 10min. So why overspeed?

Pls how did you arrive st this calculation?

It's 100km/hr which is equivalent to the British 70 miles per hr . Check the road safety website it's stated there clearly .

Hazard in motoring means loads of things on a high way . A legally parked car in the side of a road is termed a hazard . Joggers and walkers on side of road/pavement are hazards in motoring. I'm sat in my car in Cambridge atm I'm taking a foto .
U see the parked car and the man in the brown jacket are hazards in motoring terms.
If you take the hazard perception test and you do not click on them both as hazards you will fail .

Cos I have been driving for over a decade andbi drive every other day. You can try it.
Drive and overtake all the vehicles on the way...whenbu are satisfied. ..pullover and watch your time. Then come back and quote me for confirmation.
Besides...when driving..kjow u ain't in competition with anyone...

Noted... I thank God for journey mercy. Just came back from my weekend trip max speed was 175km/h. Less traffic route East West Road to Port Harcourt.

SUVs are not built for speed, you will see that on the warning sticker right on the sunshade right above your head! this is due to instability brought on by the high centre of gravity... you have been warned... but then, nobody is just gonna give you a G-wagon! grin grin grin grin
seriously? Then why power them with v6 or V8 supercharged?

When people say "overspeeding is dangerous"..what exactly are they referring to?
The max have done so far is 100km/h(and i dont even stay on that for long before i press my brake jejely) and yea.you can call me a novice, im like 3 -4 months old in driving

But then i really wanna know..while im thinking the max that should be done on a free highway is 100km/h..some "expert drivers" made mockery of me saying 100km/h is too slow especially when the road is really free

So guys..From what speed on the speedometer is considered overspeeding?..because if you ask me a 3month old driver, anything on the other side of the speedometer is a no no for me(max 100km/h)

I'm few months in the driving industry but I did more than 140 yesterday. PH to warri.
