You forgot that after subtracting the area of the two circles from the area of the rectangle, you are left with areas of the corners of the rectangle and areas above and beneath where the circles are tangent to each other. So not so easy!
"You are
not seeing what I am seeing"

Look at the question and read my write up again. After subtracting, you can partition the remaining parts into equal size.

Oga.. that does not solve the question. I know what you mean, dividing the rectangle into squares which leaves you with eight equal corners. How do you then look for the area beneath the triangle...(I hope you do not think the diagonal line divides the corners into two equal parts?). Like naturalwaves said you need angles formula to resolve it.

Yeah, I will need angle formulas to finish it up and I am going to do that soon.

Every saturday a fisherman goes to the river, the sea and a lake to catch fishes with probabilities 1/4,1/2,and 1/4 respectively. If he goes to the sea, there is an 80% chance of catching fish, the corresponding figures for the river and the lakes are 40% and 60% respectively. (1) find the probability that he catches fish on a given saturday
(11) If on a particular Saturday he comes home without catching anything, where is it most likely he has been?
(111) His friend who is also a fisherman chooses any of the three locations with equal probabilities. Find the probability that the two fishermen will meet atleast once in three weekends (any assumption made should be clearly stated).

15, 19 , and 25 SS students offer economics , chemistry and biology respectively , out of these students 5 offers the 3 subject, 9 offer economics and chemistry 13 offer biology and chemistry , while 3 offer only economics,; determine the number of students that offer 1. Chemistry only
2. Economics and biology

4. One subject
Check the questions again and check back. I think there is an error. Verify maybe or not questions 2,3,4 have the word "ONLY" after them or better still, take a snap shot of the question.

I have to look at the question again based on your comment. You haven't seen it. Divide the shape into different sub sections.

Nice try! but the problem is that you have assumed that the diagonal line divides the corner into two equal parts (which is not true). I will post the solution unfailingly 2moro, been busy of late... Cheers!.

even the devil in maths knows that the diagonal of a rectangle divides it into two.....which is why the area of a triangle is defined as ...(half times base times height).....which is basically dividing the rectangle into two equal halves to get a triangle

hehehehehehehehehe grin grin grin tears in my eyes laughing at the bolded statement.... oh dear, this is why i love my people (Nigerians).

But more seriously, i mean the diagonal line dividing the area at the corner does not divide it into two equal parts(look at it very well).I do not mean the rectangle... I mean the area at the corner. Really loved ur humor though..

Wow! You need to give me a clapping meme. That question looks easy merely looking at it but I won't lie, it is tough on the inside. That's the toughest, brain racking sh.it I have solved in recent times grin grin grin

ps: You can still paste your solution. I would like to see how you solved yours.

The mistake is so obvious... dividing 5.365 by 2.... he assumed the area beneath the triangle can be gotten by dividing the area in the corner by two...
