thankyouJesus: That is a terrible way to approach the problem. I believe they are more sophisticated identities that could bail you out. |

holuwajobar:Trying to solve this analytically may raise some eye lids. Use Falsi method to pick initial point, complete your solution with Newton Raphson method (Numerical Analysis). |

thankyouJesus: Given that sinA + sinB = x and cosA + cosB = y To solve this systems of equations. Sqaure both systems to obtain sin²A + 2sinAsinB sin²B = x² (*) cos²A + 2cosAcosB + cos²B = y² (**) adding we obtain 2 + 2(sinAsinB + cosAcosB) = x² + y² or 2 +2(cos(A-B)) = x² + y² *** cos(A-B) = (x² + y² - 2)/2 Complete the solution thankyoujesus and you shall obtain similar argument for tan(A-B) and use the half-angle identity to obtain the value of tan(A-B)/2 and then proceed to solve the original problem. |

Let a,b,c,d be numbers on the interval (0, 180) such that sina 7sinb =4(sinc + 2sind) cosa + 7cosb =4(cosc + 2cosd) Prove that 2cos(a-d) = 7cos(b-c), thankyoujesus you can actually use the method exemplified above to solve this problem. 1 Like |

Icosahedron:Why post questions you have solution to? Post questions you don't have solution to so that people can help. I have lot to type based on our short memo but I dont take things personal. Word on marble, you are good no doubt but my working will also lead to same answer just that my approach is not sophisticated as you have rightly termed it, smiles. Be flexible, most Mathematics questions can be solved in variety of ways. Note: You can always beckon on me if you have Mathematics questions you can't solve. One love. |

thankyouJesus: Alright, I'll be sharing with you my Calculus assignments then if you UNIBEN accepts me since I don't like Calculus. As for the problems above, I didn't have answers to them when I shared the problem on this forum, it was an exercise in a textbook I was reading for Trigonometry. |
