US still boasts the most powerful military in the world, spending almost three times as much as Russia and China COMBINED, according to new global rankings of armed forces

The US still boasts the most powerful military in the world, dwarfing both Russia and China behind them
The US spends almost $600 billion a year on its defence budget with 'available manpower' of 145,215,000
Ranking of 106 nations based on more than 50 factors, including military budget, manpower and weaponry

The US still boasts the most powerful military in the world, dwarfing both Russia and China behind them, according to the new global rankings of armed forces around the world.
The US spends almost $600 billion a year on its defence budget and has an 'available manpower' of 145,215,000.
Russia, which came second in the rankings, spends less than $45 billion a year on defense while China forks out $161 billion annually according to military analytics website Global Firepower.

What's more, the US will see its defense spending increase under President Donald Trump, as he has proposed a $54 billion increase for the department.
He said it will help 'demolish and destroy' ISIS, increase the number of ships in the US Navy fleet and build extra F-35 fighter jets to expand the Air Force.
Trump's 10 per cent boost to the military will see cuts to non-defense spending at the State Department, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Environmental Protection Agency and dozens of other federal programs.
The ranking of 106 nations was based on more than 50 factors and looked at each country's military budget, manpower and the amount of equipment it had.
It also focused on the country's range of weaponry, logistical flexibility and natural resources, while NATO powers were given a slight boost because of the sharing of resources.

Nuclear stockpiles were taken into account but not recognized, in the figures compiled by Global Firepower.
As well as its huge defense budget, the US has 19 aircraft/helicopter carriers, 5,884 tanks, 13,762 aircraft, a total naval strength of 415 and 1,400,000 active frontline personnel.

Aircraft carriers greatly enhance a country's overall military strength, as they allow nations to have mobile naval and air force bases. The figures for 'aircraft carriers' here also include 'helicopter carrier' vessels.
Russia has only one aircraft carrier (the Soviet-built Admiral Kuznetsov), but 20,215 tanks, 3,794 aircraft and a naval strength of 352, with 766,055 active frontline personnel.
It also hopes to build the 'biggest aircraft carrier in the world' to compete with the US, according to Russian state media.
China has one aircraft carrier (the Soviet-era Liaoning), 6,457 tanks, 2,955 aircraft, 714 ships and 2,335,000 in the armed forces.
Development of China's first domestically built aircraft carrier began in 2013 and construction in late 2015.

It is expected to be formally commissioned before 2020, after sea trials and the arrival of its full air complement.
The UK has the sixth most powerful military in the world, with an available manpower of 30 million, an active frontline personnel of 150,000, one helicopter carrier, 249 tanks, 856 aircraft and a total naval strength of 76.

Russia either spans two continents: Europe and Asia, or belongs in Eurasia. By most standards there are 7 continents in the world: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Antarctica. Yet, some geographers combine Europe and Asia into the Eurasian continent.

The part in Asia is largely empty. Edit by Sivapradeep Reddy: Also Geographically speaking, Europe part of the continent is till Ural mountains. All the populous regions of Russia is on western side of Ural mountains. This makes majority of Russian economy European.

For centuries the question of whether Russia is European or Asian has been debated both inside and outside the country. A larger part of its huge landmass is located in what is Asia, while more Russians live in the country’s European part. By being neighbours with countries as distant as Finland and China, Russia has always absorbed some of the best qualities and characteristics from both continents.

The Russian cultural renaissance of the 18th century produced geniuses in art, literature and music and these are proudly claimed by Europe as part of the greater European heritage. It’s next to impossible to go through the personal libraries of European intellectuals without finding a book written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky or Lev Tolstoy. The classical music concert scene in most European countries focuses a lot on compositions of legends such as Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Russia shares a lot with northern Europe, right from a love for saunas like in neighbouring Finland to the wonderful tradition of summer houses that bind the Russian and Swedish souls. There’s also this celebration and passion for summer and warmth that can be likened to similar sentiments in Scandinavia. Despite a strong European heritage, which manifests itself in the best way in the ornate imperial capital of St Petersburg, it’s hard to get a feel of completely being in Europe when in Russia.

Another strong Asian element in Russia can be seen in the religious revival in the country. After religion was suppressed for several decades by the communists, the return to traditional faiths in the country are visible. This doesn’t mean that churches are overflowing with regular parishioners but more people are looking for answers from the divine. The religion debate is endless, but even as a non-religious person, I can safely say that there is a great degree of spiritual energy in some of Russia’s older churches and monasteries. They don’t feel like mere tourist attractions, the way a large number of houses of prayers in Europe do.

In many ways, Russia will always be the land between Europe and Asia, a country that has combined the influences of both continents and created a unique culture that is similar and different from both at the same time.

Another example is TURKEY

Turkey is located where Asia meets Europe and geographically has land on both continents. The capital Ankara and the larger portion of the country are in Asia

Turkey is not a European country. 97% of its territory lies in Asia. The EU does not need shared borders with Syria, Iran and Iraq. Agreeing to one non-European member would open the door for candidates from Cape Verde to Kazakhstan.

some people will just talk without facts just because they want to talk..read no...am not suprised and i think the only propaganda here is when people claim they like and love russia and they nothing about russian.soviet history
