I think it is expected in this part of the world where some if not all medical practitioners don't consider the medical history of patients before administering drugs to them.

How accessible are a patients medical history in Nigeria when people use alot of corner side hospitals, traditional/alternative medicine and self medicate alot?

Doctors are pretty handicapped in this part of the world.

When the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?

When the Educational Foundation is destroyed, these and more is what you expect.

Our Educational system is in shambles. Incompetent graduates roaming everywhere.

All they want is CERTIFICATE!!!!

And their parents don't care about competency, they want certificates too. So when they attend their village meeting, they join the league of old fools to scream "I HAVE 5 GRADUATES" you think its easy? undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

IT IS A PRODUCT OF A ROTTEN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.

It is only a hypocrite that will come here and say otherwise.

I schooled here in Nigeria and Abroad too.

The system is messed up. Unqualified Lecturers who openly encourage cheating and sorting.

Lecturers who encourage sex for grades.

Lecturers who doesn't even know what they are lecturing.... They lack both theoretical and practical knowledge.

Lecturers who threaten to fail you if you don't do their bidding and many times carry out their threats.

I pity and weep for my dearly beloved country.

EVEN IF ITS A DRUG REACTION, THEN THE NURSE SHOULD HAVE ACTED SWIFTLY TO MANAGE IT>>>>

"Lecturers who doesn't even know what they are lecturing" See the person condemning Nigerian education system because he studied abroad, is this the type of English they teach you there?

All this your epistle for Steven Johnson's syndrome? Is that a Nigerian name, these things happen abroad so get lost with your condemnation of everything Nigerian, yet you are in a Nigerian owned forum, blabbing rubbish

This is a drug reaction which can happen to anybody. It doesn't mean that the wrong medication was administered rather the student in question reacts adversely to the medication given to him. Most people don't know that they reacts to some drugs eg not everybody reacts to chloroquine or sulphur etc. Some may have mild reaction while in rare cases it maybe life threatening like in this kid.

You speak ignorantly. Don't you know that some doctors kill their patients through drug interactions with one another.

Drug reaction. I also react to sulphonamides and I have stopped taking them. I do have black patches all over my body that appear
like ringworm of those days on the head and its very itchy.

OP should modify his title to read the actual name of the school. This is because, Nigerian Military School (NMS) is a secondary school and it is the only one in Nigeria located in Zaria.

We consider that an option but that nurse and the organization she serves has a RESPONSIBILITY for crying out loud. We shouldn't also rule out the allegation of professional misconduct.

Do people not die abroad or does the syndrome not exist abroad? Answer these questions before condemning everything Nigerian.

This is your last warning, if you think you are wonder woman, let me hear anymore insults from your vocal cavity. See how you disgraced yourself? Condemning Nigerian education system is it not an actress that died in Canada a few days back or people don't die abroad again, if not for inferiority complex you won't think and talk this way. Did you obtain a certificate in aggression? It seems that's the only thing you achieved during the course of your study abroad

So you think you can make me not to quote you again by warnings and threats? lol yu must be a baby.

Stephen Johnson's syndrome.
I'm usually very careful about it, once I ask you if you react to any drug especially when about to give a drug that contains 'sulphonamide' and you start claiming being 'unsure , probably' I won't give. The blame will be on the nurse and the story might become sensionalized, the story about him being abandoned for three days might be false.

My mum reacts to sulphonamides and anytime she has cause to be prescribed drugs, that's the first thing she tells them, none of her children reacts to it but even then we are usually careful

True, but the nurse that administered should have acted immediately she notice the boy was reacting to whatever she gave him.. A quick shot of adrenaline might have helped the boy, .. wish him well
A quick short of adrenaline?? really?? where did u get that from?...U should Google Steven Johnson syndrome and know what it is before attempting even to criticise.. I really don't want to go hard on U.

Lol, and what if the boy has no medical records with the clinic in question and if he had had previous reactions why didn't the parents inform the school authorities so that it can be put in his medical file? Try putting on your thinking cap
