That has nothing to do with the fact that they produce talents. They were one of the exciting teams in 2015 ayc and now they are champions of Africa. Their players are big, strong and super athletic.

I was even expecting you to make reference to 2007 when they reached the 2nd round of the WYC. They lost 2-1 to a Nigerian side that had Efe Ambrose, Elderson Echiejile, Brown Ideye, Emmanuel Sarki(later adopted Haiti or one of those Carribean nations), Ezekiel Bala, Nduka Ozokwo(Patience Ozokwo's son), Chukwuma Akabueze, Ikechukwu Ezenwa among others. Akabueze scored the winning goal for Nigeria.

See, my brother, I know what I am talking about.

As an analyst of the game especially at youths level. It may interest you to know that I may easily miss an AFCON game but I will always try to watch every CAF U 17, CAF U20 and WYC game whether we are playing or not. That is where my interest lies. I know what each country is capable of at this level.

No analyst or forecaster is perfect in football but I can tell you that though Zambia are CAF champions they may likely not be the country to go farthest.

My pick is Senegal. For very obvious reasons. Talent and level of exposure of the players.

I like the fact that our boys are goal scorers. Onuachu, kayode, henry, fernando... who else?

I don't think anybody here has ever called Awoniyi a trash.

What most here believe is he is not an ' A' class teen striker.

I still have that believe.

Nobody has forgotten what he did at U17. We just know he was boy that had an opportunity of a life time and grabbed it with both hands.

At that U17 he was not in the same class with Isaac Success.

However, he should keep working hard. Sincerely, I am happy he scored some goals of late and wish or hope he continues. But I will not be shocked if he goes on another spell of goals drought.

I know wat I'm talking about. I have even wondered why the boy was being bashed even when he was no where near the team picture. Now people want to credit the coach so it looks as if it was a miracle and not the boy finding his feet in Europe as a young man.

Thank you. That's hiw I keep reading Naija would have won nations cup if we had qualified. Why did we not qualify so as to go win it. 2016 was a callous year for Naija men's soccer. Hope we get our acts right, or else we'd just keep missing these youth tournaments. Other nations are now keying into the fact that youth tournaments are one very good avenue for building a strong senior national team.

BascoVanVeli:

To me that's very poor form. We should always be gracious losers and not act so high and mighty.

If it like let it be in 40 wilderness years, he is back to form and scoring the same types of goals we have seen so so many times.

What form U17 youth football form of how many years ago

Played 32 professional games in lower level league football and scored 3 goals. Is that what you call back to form for a forward player. With ambitions of playing in the EFL

It takes time to get it right. It is just like learning a maths sum. Sometimes it takes time to understand and when you do, it becomes easy.

Football has little patience and therefore very limited time. While you are taking time to get it right other players are already getting it right and leaving you behind.

Awoniyi has already had too much time 32 games in lower level of European league football and 3 goals, is not quality form.

Mainz Defender Balogun Doubtful For Corsica Friendly After Suffering Thigh Injury

The Super Eagles might be without the services of Leon Balogun for their forthcoming international friendlies against Corsica (May 26) and Togo (June 1) in France due to injury.

The right fullback had to replaced after 18 minutes in the Bundesliga clash between Cologne and Mainz at RheinEnergieSTADION on Saturday afternoon.

The initial prognosis is that Balogun sustained a thigh injury which might keep him on the sidelines for at least two weeks.
In the coming days, the Nigeria international will be subjected to tests to determine the severity of his injury and the time frame for his return to training.

William Troost-Ekong, Uche Agbo and Chidozie Awaziem are the remaining central defenders named in Nigeria's roster for the friendlies with Corsica and Togo.

I also saw them at the AYC.
But don't you think home advantage played a great role there?

If you draw a list of the top favorites for this WYC would Zambia make your top 8?

I don't see Zambia going beyond the 2nd round. If they do so then I would be surprised.

No be friendlies?

Wetin Rohr invite Agbo and Awaziem for? No be to provide options?

And even if he doesn't recover well enough before the SA game I trust Omeruo-Ekong partnership to do the job.

No cause for alarm.

Osimhen Makes 2 nd Bundesliga Appearance As Wolfsburg Face Relegation Playoff, Balogun Injured
By James Agberebi

Super Eagles youngster Victor Osimhen made his second appearance for Wolfsburg but could not prevent them from losing 2-1 away to Hamburg in the final day of the regular Bundesliga season.

The defeat means Wolfsburg finish in 16th on 37 points in the 18-team league and will feature in the relegation play-off.
Osimhen, 18, was brought on for Sebastian Jung in the 76th minute.

Robin Knoche gave Wolfsburg the lead in the 23rd minute.
In the 32nd minute Filip Kostic equalised for Hamburg before substitute Gian-Luca Waldschmidt scored the winning goal on 88 minutes to give the home team the win.

In another Bundesliga game played on the final day of the season, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was in action for Mainz but went off early as his team lost 2-0 away to Cologne.

Despite the loss, Mainz maintained their Bundesliga status after finishing in the 15th position on 37 points.

Jonas Hector and Yuya Osako were the scorers for Cologne in the 43rd and 87th minutes respectively.

Balogun, who started from the match, had to go off for Alexander Hack in the 18th minute in what is a suspected injury.

He is now a doubt for the Super Eagles friendly games against Corsica and Togo in a few days' time.

When would African teams know that the world stage is not a place to just show that you are the best dribbler in the world? That's what killed Guinea today. If Vanuatu has a good goalie I could even vouch that they could beat the Guinean side. They kept dribbling repeatedly whereas, Korea moved the ball intelligently and purposefully. The worst culprit was one guy called Jules - very skillful but very tactically deficient. Well, I have my hopes pinned on SA. I think Zambia beat SA just cos of home advantage. SA has a thorouhly cohesive and fast unit. The final I watched against Zambia, Senegal was just filled with gragra. Except they fortified their team for the WC they may just be heading home after d second round
