are you okay? Oil produced by swimming inside it tastes better? Is it the urine or the sweat from the body of producers that made it taste better?
what part of the country are you from? How is oil processed in your place?

pls tell me u ar nt serious... There are so many health risk involved in this method. Both the consumer and the producer are exposed to this risk. MAKE UNA LEAVE STONE AGE AND EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY.
have you also been to the oil mills to see how dirty they are? ?I've seen both processes in all,the oil is subjected to heating which kills whatever you think is in it.

i can see you are not just an Afonja but one with an acute, chronic case of identity crisis, Mr man you are not Igbo and can never be not in this life not in the next better wake up to that reality, I don't know why you deny being Afonja maybe they have rejected you too, but sorry Igbo's don't take rejects nor bad blood we take only pure Igbo bloodline we keep our race clean, I guess you are one of those Igbo's Afonjas refer to as nwa peak milk, nwa sardine sorry I know it hurts to be a reject, well you can help yourself by locating one of the idp camps and start afresh and call your generation flatonja as you proudly do here, as for being Igbo you are not it and will never be.

Stupid Afonja be proud of you kind... dem swear for you.
I can see that you are a kid or a stupid adult, so your words have no value. Senseless slowpoke like you can always display you stupidy online.

It is very easy to "talk the talk" and not "walk the talk" especially in this part of the world and to be specific, in Nigeria. We always talk about Agro business and we do little or no impart to develop the sector and most of our Agro food and production are still done in the olden ways (akaic ways).

When are we going to mechanize our farming? I have seen many places and people that produces this palm oil and what my eye saw is a sight that is not pleasant to see. So palm oil is still produced like in the olden days. I don't even want to talk about how some other things are being produced but palm oil? That we consume everyday?

It is indeed pathetic. See more pics below and share your thoughts.

This is a National shame. By now our researchers should have developed rural based manual appropriate technology for this production process.
For everyone that has a stake with science and engineering and political decision making, I submit this is shameful.

This primitive method was still in use as recent as the1980s in south East Nigeria, what the hell are you guys talking about... So you have never heard of the term " Izo Akwu" done in long carved boat like wooden mortars.. Sure the practice is no longer in use in most places, but I can bet you there are still villages practicing this..

Not everyone does it this way, I have had the opportunity of participating in the process before so I can boldly say it is a very hygienic process.
Not even sure these ones above are Nigerians.
Yea, I thought the same too, it might not be in Nigeria,

I'm not surprised. We still do some primitive things in Nigeria. This is not even the worst of them. Go to the abattoirs where meat is processed and you may never eat meat again. What about local bakeries? water production factories that use tap water? manufacturing companies where there are no quality controls? Go and see how things are made in the villages; things that we take in as food.

Yet most people living in the villages live longer than those in the cities.

Nobody uses this method again.
No one will even come to your mill if you use this system in 2017.

My MIL produces palm oil in commercial quantities, it's all mechanised. I do go to her mill regularly, never seen this in my life.

Mashing or threading by foot has been done by various communities for thousands of years and the admixture is purified by means of boiling and seperation,so what the problem of those claiming to know it all?
This is an ancient and traditional way of producing palm oil long before the advent of palm oil processing machine and it is still very much alive in different parts of the world.
One thing i realize is that we dislike the way our ancestors managed theirselves and natural resources. Tufiakwa!
Anyway, the chaff or left over material is not wasted,in fact no part of the palm tree is wasted.
The dry chaff is used for making soap and supplying fuel for domestic use.
