I serviced my Golf 4 yesterday after Church, I changed only oil sef, got the original total 5000 for 4500, I didn't change filter though.

Last time i changed the oil was January 2017 or December 2016 I think. It notified on my dashboard on Saturday that the oil is low. grin grin grin

I might not do another oil change until December 2017. cheesy

I don't have that kind of mind. Maximum I have stayed without changing d oil is 9 weeks and it is once.

if i can afford to buy oil of 5k, what stop me from buying a filter of 1k or less ?

My cars are darling and i dont joke with their wellbeing. And, they hardly Bleep up.

Remember I have used this car for good 5 years, when It was still new, I was changing oil like every month too but then, I realised I was cheating myself when I hardly travelled with it, I was only driving around town, going for lectures, going out with friends, church etc.

Now, it's just going to work, church, traveling few kilometres maybe once in a month, last time it travelled far was August last year when I took it to lag for a Visa appointment, then to Osogbo earlier this year.

I no too dey travel like that sha.

Yeah, pay could be that bad if you are salaried under a senior colleague. The sky is your limit when you are independent. Mind you, tutelage under a senior is a necessary devil as it expose you to high profile cases, connections, billing, tactics etc.

I earned 10k for 3 years while under senior lawyers and my first job (drafting of land agreement) in my chamber earned me 800k. My Junior partners earned 25k . Hope u can deduce how it works here

Lady golf3 is a very good & rugged car but that is if u maintain it as due. Don't 4get 2 check ur radiator water level & don't over fill it as it may cos overheating if u do. Be sensitive to the fan 2 know if its working well & always read ur dashboard indicators like ur temperature gauge, oil alarm switch, ensure they are working. If possible keep d car engine away from water as d engine doesn't like water. Service the engine on monthly basis by changing engine oil, oil filter & plugs if possible.to enjoy dis car u nid 2 be sensitive 2 ur engine.
Servicing the Engine monthly might just kill 5 he Engine . Frequent oil change leads to sludge formation . The watch word would be use recommended fluids for your car as specified by the manufacturer .

Changing your car oil that frequency is doing more harm than good . You should be changing your fuel filter with that frequency cos there are too many dirty and bad fuel arround .

Look at it this way, I can still drive around without changing filter, but I sure can't drive around without changing oil as at when due.

When next I'll service this car, maybe December, I'll change the oil filter.

Well you should. Check your service manual to see when you are meant to change
Timing belt
Fan belt
Fuel filter .
You should not wait for them to pack up B4 changing . Preventative mentanance is very important .

Trust me if your fuel filter mess you up it won't only be the fuel filter you change . It might damage injectors , fuel pump and put you down in a very dangerous spot at an ungodly hour .
I'm talking frm expirience .
Do you fancy servicing your fuel system on the east West rd about 1130 pm 10 mins from Bayelsa ? ?

I have changed fly wheel, I do check my tie rod and ball joint too occasionally, changed gear oil like twice in those years, changed fan belt once too.

Those are like the major things I have changed.

Hehehehe, ds one is strong.

I have experienced this once when the Coach taking us on an excursion broke down...all effort to fix it that day failed. He had to arrange for another bus.

My manual was written in German, downloaded a translator but the manual isn't a full one. I have tried downloading some online but I haven't gotten any that makes sense.

That's good . If you can detect knock on ur ball joint then you ate sage to call for its replacement b4 it puts you down . U should be careful of your gear oils . Especially if U do get a newer car . Some of the oils are lifelong . Fan belt you should check at least monthly . It's degradation is physical so if you spot brakes on it then it's good to change and Oh always ha e a spare one in your car
