Northern Provincial Schools are also exempted because of inadequate information/recorded history. Examples include;
Adamawa Provincial Secondary School (Gen. Murtala Muhammed College), Yola (1920)?!
Katsina Provincial Secondary school (Government College, Katsina) (1930)?!

Re: 108 Oldest Secondary Schools In Nigeria by eyinjuege: 7:33am On Jun 28, 2017
Wow, some of the schools are centuries old...

Its a pity our educational system seems to be declining. I hope more attention and funds can be provided to schools, and then adequate supervision with inspection of all schools( private and govt).

Established in 1927 by the Northern Regional Government, the famous Rumfa College, Kano, now appears to be surviving only through the help of its old boys, due mainly to the neglect by successive administrations in the state.

At the age of 87, if Rumfa College Kano were to be a human being, it would have been dead by now or locked in a battle with old age related ailments.
Although the school still exists, a large part of its land area has been taken over by other institutions established by the state government.

Proudly ACA, Integritas! St. Thomas Aquinas College, my great Alma Mater

But OP, are you sure about Oyemekun Grammar school? I think the founding year was 1960.
I'm also an alumni of that great citadel of learning.
An institution that has produced innumerable prominent figures in our society.
ACA builds you to be vibrant,vocal and an ebullient Man.
Whenever I remember this school, there is always a strange form of confidence instilled in me instantaneously.
An interesting story is that all the prominent figures in the last ondo state Governorship election are also alumni of that great school.
ACA integritas!

Back in those days, the quality of education in these schools could rival any school anywhere in the world.

Unfortunately, today, most of these schools are a shadow of themselves
