No regulatory agencies to enforce laws or channel news to end users in this regard. Nigeria as a country is brainless.

And what steps have you ever taken to address anything? Anything at all, nothing? Govt is made up of people.

In addition to getting ur digit guage also remember that
By driving more than 1min will increase your tire psi. Drove to this vulcanizer (or should I say fukerniser) so you have already increase the pressure even b4 the Vulcanizer added his own.

Jammiiee:
That's not a faulty issue but rather a mistake frm his part. Can't u see he multiplies pressure in bar by 10 to arrive at his own psi angry . Takes 3.5 bar for 35 psi, 4.5 bar for 45 psi

And 1 bar = 14.5 psi approximately
I think you should read again and see how we arrived at the faulty gauge conclusion. How he arrived at his 45psi isn't in dispute but his 1bar is over 14.5psi (approx) ;hence the faulty gauge conclusion.

R u kidding me? Not advertising anything but I think every car owner should have a tyre guage and double check whenever they inflate their tyres at the vulcanizers. Lots of accidents that happen in this country are caused by burst tyres and majority of these burst tyres are caused by potholes, expired tyres and over inflated tyres.

My vulcanizer gauge is bad. Repeatedly I 've asked him to get a functional gauge, he keeps promising to get which he never did. I 've warned him severally that he is endangering people's life but the man is just not bothered.

So it is imperative for one to 've a gauge or at least use those with working gauges.

Blah blah blah blah said the sheep

Someone would wake up every morning just to say something about Nigeria

Do you know how people in the USA put air in their tyres ?? Keep blaming Nigerian vulcanizers

Below is a typical tyre pump station in countries where things work. Just input the amount of pressure u need and pump ur tire urself, once it gets to the value u want it will stop pumping. Oh and there are no vulcanizers, u have to do it urself, just like u fill ur gas urself when u go to the gas station.

So I wanted to make a quick trip from Lagos to Ogun state this morning and as part of routine check up i decided to check my tyre pressure, pulled out my digital meter and one of the tyres was reading 28psi. Recommended pressure is 33 but I normally inflate to 35. Drove to this vulcanizer (or should I say fukerniser) and told him to inflate to 35. After he was done I checked myself with my own meter and to my surprise if was inflated to 75 psi. Wtf. I told the guy I wanted 35, he said he thought I said 45. Even if I said 45 how is that even close to 75?

So he deflated it and said it was ok, I checked again it was 60. I said it's too much, he deflated again and said that's 35. I now checked with his own meter and to my surprise he was reading the bar unit on his meter instead of psi. So he was taking 3.5 bar to be 35 psi which is actually 55psi. The idiot told me that my car is an SUV that I shouldn't deflate it further. I just told him not to worry, deflated it myself until it got to 35psi.

Pic 1: the meter the vulcanizer was using.

Pic 2: my own digital meter.

where did you buy your meter?

Check konga, there are different tyre pressure guages and they are inexpensive.

I know. That is why I inflate to 35 psi and 33 psi when I'm making a long journey. Normally the best time to check ur tyre pressure is on the morning before driving the car. 3 of my tires were between 33-36 psi, only 1 of them was 28.

Dude the government has failed its people!! I am a very personable individual and I know how I am contributing my quota! But truth be told, the British made a mistake putting Nigeria together!

I tell u, and to think of the fact that he must have inflated many tyres like that. I think there need to be regulatory bodies that will enforce this and educate people about recommended tyre pressures. Last month I traveled to Benin with my brother inlaw, we went in my car. On our way I guaged my tyres and he was surpsied when I said I inflate my tyres to 35psi. He said he normally inflate his own to around 50-55.. I showed him the door sticker where it says 32psi and he said those things don't work in Nigeria.

lalasticlala

The kind of folks I detest the most are asshats that thinks Nigeria is on Mars and earthly physics doesn't work in Nigeria.

we can form Ngo buy this digital pressure guage give like 100 vulcanizer in every state.
They normally held their association meeting on thursday morning in lagos state using the avenue train/teach them how to use this digit pressure.
It will go a long way in saving precious life.
Mind you the guage is less than 2k each.

This could well explain the sudden explosion of tyres killing vulcanisers while inflating it.

I had similar situations twice. Abt 3yrs ago. I left Abuja around 8pm on my way to Jos. I stopped at Akwanga around 11pm to check my tyres. One of d front tyres was down n I asked vulcaniser to gauge it. A small boy was asked to do d work. I told him to gauge it to 40. Wen he finished, I asked him d gauge of d pressure. he jst used his fingers to hit d tyre twice n said it was 40. I didnt believe him n asked for a meter. He said dey dnt v meter. I reported him to his boss n he came wit a meter. He found out d boy gauged my tyre to 72 instead of 40. I nearly hit d boy but d Spirit ministered unto 2me not to do so. I wonder wat wud v happened to me if I hit bad n deep pot hole in d middle of no where in midnight . I reached Jos around 1am. On similar situation, I was coming from southern Borno dis January, heading to Abj. I stopped at Gombe around 3pm n discovery dat my front tyre was down. I asked a vulcaniser to gauge it to 40. Wen he finished, I drove off but reached Jos around 11pm. I spent d night there n started heading to abj. As usual, I stopped to check all my tyres. I discovered dat d same tyre I askd a vulcaniser to inflate it to to 40, he inflated it to 55. I was socked because I wonder wat wud v happened to me cos it was a front tyre, I was carrying plenty loads n was driving at night. Since den, I bought my digital meter to measure d gauge of my tyres, especially, if I v a long journey ahead of me. Drivers, pls b careful cos Because N50, a vulcaniser can put ur life in danger cos dey dnt care.

Okay, this is very bad and people should desist from doing evil.
But almost all we Nigerians are wickedly corrupt and wicked, in and with our profession, offices, wisdom, God-giving gifts, education, shops, privileges, even with our religions and the likes. The leaders, with their education, exposure, wisdom, power and co, looted all the money of the people in their custody which was meant to be used for all and all things, the pastors with their God-giving gifts and privileges scammed the people, took money from them and become rich, the lecturers or ASUU who are all educated, have great opportunity to speak to the government and must be listened to, who know how much Nigeria makes from oil daily, who can influence things and so on, use all these things to fight only for their own salary increment and nothing concern them about the welfare of the poor who never go to any school, who can't speak for themselves and who do not know anything about how much Nigeria makes everyday from oil, being very selfish and myopic and wicked, the police men use the guns that is given them by the state to defend the people and fight criminals and crimes to threat the people and take bribe from them, the immigration officers sit in their offices and inflate the costs of passports and their renewer even after all correction and complains, they don't let go of corruption in their offices but hold tight to it, how about the judges, the lawbreakers who are called lawmakers and so on.
So it is that almost all we Nigerians are corrupt in our offices, works, and the likes.
So let each of us who are at fault in these things turn from our wicked ways that things also may change for us for the better. For there are great unfaithfulness, ungodliness, injustice and wickedness in the the land and God is seriously angry with us and is punishing us but we are very stubborn and not taking corruption
