For those that didn't read the transcript, the bold is an important public service announcement.

Congratulations.
He/she doesn't need to book any accommodation, in most cases people don't find accommodation until they arrive. Very few people will make payment for an accommodation they have not seen. Using a friend's address is not out of place.

Morning guys, I've been a silent reader on this thread for a while, but anytime I come on this discussion group and see testimonies I feel sad about my 3rd class grade which always makes me feel as an intruder on here, I was denied 2 months ago (B1B2) and since then I've been looking for a way to re-apply as a student but my poor grade keeps drawing me back, to the gurus in the house, is there any solution to this? And what advice do you have for me concerning my US schooling ambition?
Having a 3rd class is not the end of the world, the best you can do is not to dwell on it. With a good GRE score, Toefl, good letter of recommendation and solid SOP. You can right your wrong. Research for schools that have minimum of 2.5/4 CGPA as requirement and apply. You should get enough to spread your risk. You can also try some schools that are mostly white dominated, states like Mississippi, Missouri should come to mind. If you are ready to put in the work, nothing can stop you. Just to motivate you, I have a friend that had a 3rd class back in OAU, he graduated with an MSc in Petroleum Engineering Last Spring. You might not get funding in your 1st semester but with a good GPA and attitude you might get in second semester. You can search www.msinus.com for schools that accept low cgpa, also try schools that you are a little less off the CGPA requirement you never can tell. This story might motivate you too http://3dpancakes.typepad.com/ernie/2005/03/re_phd_with_low.html

Good day house. Will like to know when I could reschedule an appointment that was supposed to be for today. There was a mix-up in the application code as my name on today's list had the code of Abuja (My previous appointment). Meanwhile the DS 160 page I was holding had the new code.
They said I should reschedule it and apologised that it could be a system mix-up. I tried to but can't see the reschedule tab, although I started filling the ds 160.

Visa approved today.

I have to confess, it is not the level of preparation or how good you are. It is just favour and the discretion of the VO

Went there with my brother, my documents were all arranged and I joined the queue. I was shaking in the car but I really couldn't tell if it was the AC or an internal fear but on the queue, the fear was gone as I was braced for any eventuality.

Went through all the registration process and then on the queue for the interview, I kept listening to others. I saw those that were declined and those that were given. I noticed one VO was friendly and was giving most people she interviewed. I was praying that I was going to be lucky to be interviewed by her.

A guy was not too far in front of me, he wore crazy jeans, he had long dreadlocks, he had rings in his ears and he wore glasses. He was interviewed by a man, he said he had already been declined a visa before, long story short, his visa was approved. At this point, I told myself, "I am getting mine today".

The guy in front of me was called, he wore a nice suit like a banker, he started out about how he had schooled in UK and is back and wants to further in the US, I was shocked when at the end of his story he was declined and then it came to my turn.

Me: Good morning ma

VO: good morning, pass me your passport and your i-20

VO: what year did you graduate

Me: 2014

VO: have you finished your NYSC

Me: Yes

VO: how many schools did you apply to

Me: 3 (south Dakota SU, Purdue and ...)

VO: why did you pick this

Me: It was recommended to me by my dad when he went for a conference in the US and in addition, I was given an international student waiver worth 7000 dollars (this is not on the I20 by the way)

VO: what do you do presently

Me: I worked at a construction company before but now I work at .......

VO: How many siblings do you have

Me: I have 2 brothers and a sister.

Vo: what does your dad do?

Me: He is an urban and regional planner. He has his own consulting firm and he is grooming me to take over from him

Vo: Do you have any family member or relative in the US

Me: No

Vo: Where will you be staying?

Me: I will be staying at the graduate hall of residence

VO: You can go to the pick up location in 3 days time to pick up your visa

Me: (wow, thank you ma)

Lol. Boss, abeg no kill me o. I still be learner here o. The best thing for him would be to take his time and study hard for GRE/GMAT and TOEFL, he should also evaluate his transcript with the free WES calculator. At least that should give him an idea of where to start from.

SAT and TOEFL depending on the school's requirements. Application fee, check if they give scholarships and wait for them to review your documents after sending.
