Thank you bbaby84. Lol! Glad you could "feel my feelings". Heehee. I hear that Ontario is lovely. Oakville is a lovely suburb in the GTA, I believe. We may just wind up living near there. We are looking at Mississauga, if Mr. O finds work in Toronto.

All the best in your PPR wait, it is round the corner by God's grace. Please drop in from time to time on the blog, and leave a comment toosmiley

What a nice read Mrs. O.... I literally felt your emotions lol... Ontario is a beautiful place! Can be expensive though but totally worth it!
I hope to meet you next year when we come as PRs (IJN) we'll most likely be staying in Oakville for a while..

Happy settling..

You need to be present for it to be signed and stamped in most cases. However if that route is impossible for you to take you could go for the second option which is to call your bank and ask them to post your statement to your address. This type doesn't need to be stamped as they can tell it is genuine was and sent to your address since the format would be slightly different.

Please, I need to understand something.
At what point will they require passport during the application process. I want to start the process but my family does not have thier passport. Will I have to get all passports ready before starting the process or can I start while I apply for thier passports?

At what point will the POF come in? Will I have to get the funds ready before applying initially or later during the process?
Thanks

No Banks in Nigeria will sell dollars to you except it's for PTA or BTA (Personal / Business Travel Allowance)and you must have a valid visa and ticket to the country. So, most people go to the black market to purchase and fund their dorm accounts.

Ah ok, makes sense now. Thanks grin

1. It depends. That of the spouse is required now if she will be writing IELTS - if not, then post-ITA. For your kid(s), their passports will be required post ITA, so you can start without it but ensure you obtain them ASAP. It is just GOOD PRACTICE for you and every family member to have valid passports at all times. Don't wait for this or that time!

2. IRCC requires evidence you have had the funds for about 6 months, except you have other valid reasons such as gift deed, sale of assets, etc. So you can get the funds in the approved form (liquid) anytime, but ensure your explanation is straight and will be accepted!

@Yokus,

Nigeria is a highly regulated economy and as such, one can hardly convert Naira into a foreign currency except if the transaction relates to an international trade. However, there are exceptions provided by our Government which is a limitation of $4000 for personal travel allowance, certain amount for school fees and medical fees which of course requires some documentations. So For instance, many families would likely relocate with a minimum of USD 20,000 but can only get about USD 8,000 for PA and spouse and maybe more if a dependent is 18years and above. The balance will need to be augmented from other sources such as bureau the change which is absolutely not illegal.

For other payments that requires dollars, since the transactions are not eligible for FX in banks, the PA will also buy USD with Naira from bureau de change aka black market to fund their master cards and effect payments.

Trust this clarifies.

Yooku:

Great job you guys are doing.Apologies to ask this question. No harm intended, i'm not Nigerian so don't know the situation inland but I see a lot of people suggesting to buy dollars from "black market" ie through unofficial channels like individuals etc I suppose. Why this route? Is getting dollars from the bank/forex bureau difficult, or is it a way to avoid their high charges and get more dollars for your Naira? The only reason I would be compelled to go to the black market is when I want to change dollars and get a higher rate because of the lower rates of the forex/banks. Even that is not a norm, I believe most people in my jurisdiction deal more with the official market than black market. Some clarity will be appreciated

You can start both at the same time.
You can get POF ready at any time. Before applying or during, as long as it is ready when post ITA

Hello everyone please what do you do when a province expresses interest in your profile. Do you just ignore if you are not interested in the province and wait for ITA? Will ITA still come if i ignore?
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:50pm On Jul 18, 2017
ITA will come if you ignore, but your score would have to be high enough for the next draw... What's your score? I presume the Province is Ontario?

Yeah Ontario. My current score is 431.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:11pm On Jul 18, 2017
From the on-going trend, you might get ITA in the next 2 draws if not in the next... I will advise you wait for the next 2 draws and see what happens. If I'm not mistaken, you have 45 days to respond to Ontario, so hold on that while you observe the next 2 draws... Cool?

kemkem30:

At 424, shouldn't I just take this NOI from Ontario and run? Is there hope for ITA? sad
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Teatop1234: 8:40pm On Jul 18, 2017
The cut-off point may go as low as 415 soon again but If you have suffiecient funds to pay for both NOI and EE without it affecting your POF, you may proceed. Nothing much to loose other than money while you save time on your Canny journey.

All the best!

No need to hurry and take it with 424 points considering the $1500 CAD involved and that NOI is now valid for 60 days I guess. Wait till it's almost few days to expire before taking it, that's if you're still not invited to apply. You may just be abt 3 or 4 draws away from direct ITA and it's worth the wait. But if u have plenny cash to splash, just go ahead.
