Chapter 15.

Nate was finally back to the office after taking a much needed break; His friends problems really weighed him down but the one that really got to him, was the sad demise of Jane's mother, whenever he sees her, he could still tell, with close observation that the pain was still there, although she was doing her best not to make it obvious.

He picked his phone and dialled her number, she picked immediately it rang.

''Jane, please can you come over to the office, It's urgent'' he said to her and when she agreed without questions, he thanked her and hung up.

He brought out his laptop and began to work. After his three weeks absence from work, he's now energetic and zealous to finish the projects he was working on, before life's problems interrupted.

Ken left the kitchen after helping his mother in-law to prepare food for his wife, not that his help was needed, since there's a young employee in the kitchen assisting her, but he just needed to prove to her that he's changed and he's doing his best to be the best son in-law.

''Sweetheart'' his wife called as soon as he pushed the door open.

''Your food is ready'' he replied and went to sit on the edge of the bed.

Somehow, he felt a bit uneasy around her, despite the charming smile that she's been giving him since the day she forgave him, he has tried his best but he still couldn't put a finger to why he feel so uneasy around her.

She climbed down from the bed and yawned, before asking ''Is little Kelvin still sleeping''

''Yes, he is''

After spending two weeks in the hospital, their baby was discharged. Everyone was overjoyed to see that the little Gem look just like his father, but took his mother's light complexion making him cuter and more handsome than his father, he was simply a beauty to behold. They already had the names they would give him in mind, so immediately they got home, a pastor came over and he was named, Kelvin Chiagozie Kennedy.

It's now a week since they got home and Vicky hasn't brought up any talk about his affair with Katherine.

''Why is your face like this? Any problem?''

He stood up and smiled ''No problem, your food is getting cold''

''Oh that! Alright, I just need to brush my teeth'' she replied and walked into the bathroom.

Now alone, Ken paced to and fro the room, thinking about how best to present the matter on his mind to his wife.

He wasn't comfortable anymore with the room and he has tried so many times to talk to her about moving into another room, but she insisted on staying in the room, where he cheated on her with Katherine.

''I was thinking If we could move to another room, or atleast do away with this particular bedsheet'' he blurted out, the moment she walked back into the room.

She smiled and planted a kiss on his cheeks ''Ouch! I'm really hungry'' she whispered and left the room.

He looked at the bedsheet with a pained grimace, since the day they arrived from the hospital, that has been the bedsheet, they've been sleeping on; the one that was on the bed the day she came in and saw him with Katherine.

At first, he thought it as nothing but after he changed it the next day, Vicky went and spread it again on the bed, claiming it's her favourite, three times in the past one week he has changed it and she kept putting it back on the bed.

''Why all this torture?'' he mumured and went into the bathroom,

As long as her mum is still in the house, there's no way he will argue with her over blanket and bedsheet.

''I was wondering, If you would still like to work with me''

Her eyes widened in surprise but Nate continued undeterred ''Ofcourse, not as a secretary but as one of the company's accountant.

''Nate, you've really done alot for me, I can't'' Jane replied.

She left the house as soon as Nate called and arrived just in time to see him coming out of a meeting with some top employees.

''You're well qualified Jane''

''No, Nate thanks but there are other qualified people''

''What if I want you'' he asked and she twitched her lips.

Ofcourse he wants her, not in the way she was thinking, or the way he had said it, he wants her to be by his side at all times, the few weeks she worked with him were the best weeks he's ever had and he still wanted those moments to last for as long as he's able to make it last.

''Jane, please don't say no''

''Alright Nate, I will think about it'' she answered and went back to twitching her lips like she was in deep thought.

He watched her lips twitch and he wondered why that little act was affecting him dearly, he quickly bowed his head, as the need to kiss those lips became overwhelming.

''what's kind of feeling is this?'' he murmured incohorently.

Whatever feeling it is, he obviously isn't finding it funny.

''Alright, I've thought about it and I agree'' Jane said and he exhaled, he had no idea, he's been holding his breath since.

''You can resume tomorrow''

''Mr. Boss, I can't resume tomorrow''

''Alright, resume whenever you like''
