First off I don't blame any Aba made jersey wearer because the authentic ones are super expensive. This is why I advocated for an unknown brand that could be affordable for Nigerians. As for the friendlies, u would be surprised the amount of people across the world that fancy the super eagles. The problem is in the planning. We don't promote these matches we just show up and expect people to be there waiting. I remember the super 4 that had Manu Garba and Samson Siasia's team. The stadium was completely empty and the story that came out was that nobody knew this was even taking place. U can't blame people who have been kept in the dark. Do u think CONMEBOL is funding Brazil and Argentina? If so why does Messi have to pick up his federation's tab? A country the size of Nigeria should never have to depend on CAF or any other region giving us anything.

TBH I am writing China off from winning the world cup. China winning a world cup would be like Djibouti winning an AFCON. In fact I am willing to add that South Sudan will win an AFCON before China win's the world cup lol. All jokes aside China cannot just buy a few players and then get better than countries with solid players. In China u can only have 3 foreign players on the field at one time, I don't think they will improve so much.
Unfortunately those expensive jerseys are the real ones straight from the Nike store. The one's Nike will make sales and profit from. If they can't sell those jerseys since its expensive, why should they pay premium prize for shirt endorsement?

Talking about friendlies, the truth is that gate takings is not enough to cover overhead costs. You maybe shocked to hear this, but the truth is that gate takings is not enough to pay for players match allowance and accommodations. The average gate fee for Super Eagles games is about 500 while the players take earn an allowance of $5-10K. However you like to market the games, you can't depend on gate fee to run a team or a federation.

The whole deal I'm talking about is how it will benefit the entire continent. Nigeria is not the only country in Africa. If Nigeria is struggling like this, one can only imagine what countries like Malawi, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Mozambique etc will be going through.

By the way the Messi example doesn't fit in here. It was just a one time thing. Can't be compared to George Weah personally financing the entire world cup campaign of Liberia. I'm talking about paying players match allowance, transportation and other logistics. This is the reality many African countries have to deal with. Look at Niger, they couldn't even afford to enter a bus and drive down to Nigeria to honour an AFCON qualifier.

Starting Akpeyi in the absence of Leon Balogun is a big risk not to be attempted against cameroon.

Nice, but he needs to do more.We need strikers who can score like Iwobi did against Bayern.

Selecting goal keepers for the national team is not as Straight forward as people think it is. I remember also that Dosu Joseph was 3rd choice goalie at Plateau united prio to that Olympics. His selection was so much criticised but the guy proved himself and shut up his critics.

Let us allow the coaching crew chose their keepers abeg.

Personally I am more concerned about the out-field players. A very good midfield and defense covers up for an average goal keeper.

How can u term a defence consisting of Troost-Ekong , Elderson Echiejile and Shehu Abdullahi "very good".We need a good keeper against cameroon because Confed cup and Afcon have made them stronger.Looking at the SA match, it was obvious there was no leader in our defence. We were poor at the back. So,the need for another good keeper or defender with leadership qualities in the absence of leon and Ikeme.Remember we lost to France in 2014 WC because there was no other DM as good as Onazi. The back four is the only place (esp.the LB and CBS) where we are lacking options. Why not improve the defence with a good second choice keeper?

If Enyeama is not available, a call up should be given to Aiyenugba or Emma Daniel.

Guys,do you think its high time Ahmed Musa leaves Leicester (permanently maybe)?

The no.7 jersey has been taken from him already. that's a clear indication that his role in the team would be limited next season.

With all honesty, I can't trust Akpeyi for any match. Always shaky and does not exude confidence.

Give Daniel or Alampasu a shot, they can't be worse than Akpeyi. Afterall, Ondoa was inexperienced too..

Yes we have options. I doubt Akpeyi is better than all of these:
Alampasu, Daniel, Uzoho and Nwokolor

Remember, our U23 goal keeper coach saw Daniel better than Akpeyi. So I don't trust all Agu's decisions.

I think he should have taken the Fenarbahce offer. EPL is not for everyone. Nigerian players should stop forcing it. We've seen great players do badly in the EPL. It's all about style of play and if you can't adapt well just move.

Another player is Success Isaac. Maybe a second season for both will prove me right or wrong.

Any attempt to take an international match, friendly or not, to Sokoto, or anywhere in the far north, is asking for trouble. The fact that there hasn't been any conflict there yet doesn't mean that it isn't brewing below the surface. It's still a sharia state.

tbaba1234:

Sokoto is one of the safest places in Nigeria. No religious crisis or conflicts and less crime. Not even when other parts of the North are boiling. Sokoto has remained fairly stable. Apart from the extreme heat, it will host teams with no issues.

Ofcourse, places like maiduguri are no go because of Boko Haram.

I find it really disconcerting that we can't find a few good goalkeepers amongst more than 200 million Nigerians. I am sure that they are out there but our coaches are too lazy to discover them. I wonder what the jobs of the local coaches who work Rohr is, if they can't discover a few capable goalkeepers for the national team. They may be in the academies or even in the Universities, but these guys just can't get off their behinds to search them out.

Not forgetting the fact that most northeners are hot tempered and bigots.
The AFCON qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna is an example of what northern Nigeria fans can do..

I am sorry but this is bigoted talk. Have we not held international matches in Kano? Did the heavens fall? Borno did not have 'political sharia', implemented, yet it is the home of Boko Haram.

If that is the case, we should not hold any international match in Nigeria because there are underlying tensions everywhere in the country.

I disagree. Iwobi has risen through the ranks at Arsenal. His best shot of continued development remains there. Wenger is good for him...until he establishes himself fully -- when he becomes indispensable. Then, he will be world class ready for a great offer elsewhere.

Rohr To Monitor Three GKS (Not Enyeama, Ejide & Aiyenugba) Ahead Of WCQ

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is already planning for two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in September.
The German manager is expected to attend the CHAN Eagles get-together in Kano, where he will monitor the invited goalkeepers Theophilus Afelokhai (Enyimba FC), Okiemute Odah (Lobi Stars) and Dele Ajiboye (Plateau United).

Rohr already knows the strengths and weaknesses of another goalie called up Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC IfeanyiUbah), and there's a possibility that one of the quartet could be in goal against Cameroon if they impress him.

''I may not be specific but what I can say is he’s expected to see the CHAN team in Kano,'' NFF Communications Director, Ademola Olajire, told Brila FM.

''He wants to be there to see what they are doing and especially to look out for a home based goalkeeper, one of whom could be in goal in the match against Cameroon and probably Zambia.''

The Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu will work with another trainer who will build the confidence of the home-based goalkeepers during the training camp.
