EEGA: Back up for Ikeme? Ikeme is out for at least the rest of our WC qualifiers naa. I even pray he should be able to play football again. Who ever would be in goal against Cameroon is our new number 1. And not backup to Ikeme. That is the reality. 1 Like |

junnyjake: Emmanuel Daniel, IMO, ought to be the 3rd choice goalie in that team and not Alampasu. Daniel was ahead of Alampasu in that Dream Team squad. So why would the slot for the young keeper go to Alampasu? Yes they were both called to camp at different times. Well, I was not in camp so what do I know? However, moving on to the now, I do not know what Daniel is up to. I don't know about his current form and development. Anyone with up-date on Emmanuel Daniel should please update us. |

Icon4s: We all here have had the opportunity to see Daniel play in the Olympic Games and he was impressive in my opinion, though I believe he has a lot to improve on. It won't be a crazy idea, if Rorh makes him third choice like you rightly stated, but I just don't know. Perhaps Rohr isn't satisfied with what he saw during the Olympics. |

EEGA: Daniel is a fine GK no doubt about that. We only have his heroics at the Olympics to fall back on. He's not been playing regularly for his team and in fact a third choice. I can't compare him to Ondoa though, Cameroon took a risk with him and it paid off, it may be worse for us. |

Icon79: Hehehe, not all of the 200 million Nigerians are footballers let alone GKs though. I got your point, just trying to pull your legs though. I don't really know the yardstick these coaches use in their selections. We don't have an abundant number of Gks playing in Europe at the moment, so they shouldn't be narrow-minded. I guess it's time we look inwards. At times I sit and wonder, is this not the same Nigeria with lot of talented GKs, and we're always spoilt for choices? Some people need to take their jobs seriously. 2 Likes |

EEGA: Nope, he's 36 already he should be playing for his retirement or hope a move to China comes for him. We've got youngsters who are doing well in more competitive leagues. We are not some Niger or Liberia with limited talents. |

Icon4s:When last did Martin's play for the national team?U can't compare the both. The problem with our game against SA is not only lack of experience because Echiejile and Onazi's couldn't help us.We lacked the most important of all "leaders" in the three parts(Defence=Absence of Leon,Midfield=(Absence of Mikel) and FW=(Absence of ........). |

pelezico:Those U refer to "has beens" can never be trashed 2- nil by SA.Bro, our team need leaders. They might not be starters but should be given a call-up.We are not like Germany who can do wonders with young boys. Some are even doubting Cahill's ability to captain the team next season, saying they shouldn't have allowed Terry to leave. In a 23 or 25 man squad having 3 leaders is not that bad. |

Following FIFA's decision to expand future world cups (from 2026) to 48 teams, and granting Africa 9 guaranteed slots, CAF could expand the qualifying tournament in such a way that the big and 'mid level' teams in Africa can maximize their match-day revenues from home games. CAF could propose 3 groups of six teams. The top 3 in each group automatically qualify to the WC, and the best 4th-placed team goes into the intercontinental playoffs. This system will guarantee the big teams, such as Nigeria, play 10 matches in total, including five home games. There is precedent for this because the qualification competition for the 2006 World Cup featured a final phase of 5 groups of 6 teams. |

junnyjake:The mistake we made in our france camping was inviting only three Gks.I think they should have invited six(4 Foreign and 2 home-based)keepers since that area needed urgent attention. But the victory against algeria made them overlook that. But Emma Daniels is still better than Akpeyi.Taking a look at the Senegal game u will realize that Mousa Sow's goal should have been saved by Akpeyi but that was not the case. The absence of Leon exposed fully Akpeyi's weakness.Just like the absence of Mikel in the Midfield just told us that Onazi is not yet a leader in the middle. 1 Like |

Another area that needs urgent attention is our attack. We need a technical player in our attack, but am yet to find one who can fit in.Had it been we defeated SA, there will be bids from top clubs for the likes of Etebo and Moses Simon. But who will want an AM who couldn't create chances against S.A or a winger or wing forward whose crosses are poor. |

pelezico: England- Defoe Germany- Gomez Spain- Iniesta Brazil- Paulinho Argentina- Mascherano etc etc these are all guys who are well above 30, if they are in Nigeria we will start calling them 'has beens' because we have a few players either warming the bench at Man City/Werder Bremen or playing in the Austrian league. Now for effect, Defoe played for the worst team in the Epl last season, yet he got called up, Gomez played for a team that only finished two places above relegation, yet he was invited. Paulinho plays in the chinese league yet he is invited but here in Nigeria, if you are not warming the bench in the Epl or some other 'supposed' top league you are not going anywhere. Someone from Iheanacho's family said it quite clearly, that they received an offer from Eibar either for a loan deal or a transfer and let's be honest, the lad would have developed better there but because here in Nigeria so long as we do not watch your games you become trash he decided to leave the club and go to Leicester, well I pray that works out too but that's the problem we have. For a country like Brazil playing in the Chinese league should be the height of obscurity but they invited a player from there, so why can't we invite a player from the Chinese league( Martins, since 40% of our players are playing in the chinese league anyways, no brainer here really) or the Indonesian league if they can offer us something? Osaze already made it clear that he wants to go to the World Cup with us if he is invited just like he went to the U23 as an over-aged player to offer the little he can but well you know Nigerians, let's trash him because he is 36 4 Likes |

robosky02: With a comatose league, I will be reluctant to hunt for keepers there. Vincent Enyeama became first choice keeper while at Enyimba. It used to be that Enyimba was winning CAF champions league back to back. And Vincent was in between the post for them. That was the quality back then. These days, Nigerian teams go to continental club engagements just to mark attendance. No flair, no grit, no passion. |
