lol@op, in dz current tough economy, dat your money isnt gonna caught it. trust me bcuz 3yrs ago i had dz similar biz idea in mind. 1st you will need an up-to-date and bug free classified ad source code with their reliable technical support 247 in the deal. that only will engulf around at least $99-199 dollars and some could go up $200-399 with free future up-grades. then after dz, you will need a reliable paid webhosting cuz d free ones might be free and all, but lacking its full benefits as your site would be put in a tight corner along with several hundreds and thousands of sites all rioting for bandwidth spaces making it difficult for your thousands nos of potential ad posters to access your site easily at d same time. i sugguest shared/dynamic hosting/dedicated hosting will do, especially the ones that offer unlimited or unmetered bandwidth sizes and up-graded server speed and responsiveness. that only could cost more than what shylock is requestin. so pls get your budgeting right and adv plan mapped out 2 Likes |

AmuDimpka: Guy the bitter truth is that niche and many other online businesses are not as lucrative as you think. I help startup an e-commerce site for a billionaire family (the ones from delta into fisheries and tank farms) after 3 years of paying an entire team and a monthly marketing budget(digital only) of 3 mill (which was still small), they packed up and a manager in the physical store took it over as a personal project. they were tired. Jumia and konga have been running on losses since they started. they loose hundreds of millions of dollars every year. but they are funded by hedge funds. Lastly, Nigeria is not ripe for online business. I can't delve deeper but this is the truth. We have a large population but most of that population are either illiterate, use low end phones, dont have quality internet or are simply not bothered about these things. What makes money in Nigeria is services dependent on USSD platforms. through sms short codes. its called VAS (value added services) the indians and few nigerians doing it in naija clear billions annually. In business many people will tell you, you can't succeed. What matters is your hardwork and passion. Every business start from somewhere. Don't focus on the nay sayers. The most important thing is start and improve over time. OLX, Jiji are all own by foreigners, we need something made by Nigerians and that compete with the foreign companies.
