If you have a copy of your transcript already with you, you can do the WES evaluation yourself to see if the final , before you go ahead and pay for the official evaluation. Here is how you do it:

any A you have still remains A = 4 points
your B becomes a B+ = 3.33
your C becomes a B = 3.00 points
your D becomes a C+ = 2.33
your E becomes a C = 2 points
your F still remains an F = 0 (but do not include any failed courses as part of your calculation, only the years that you passed them).

The rest of the CGPA calculation is as usual.

A 3-unit course you made a C in (the C is now a B on the US scale = 3 points) now becomes 3 units * 3 points = 9 grade points.
A 2-unit course you made a D in now becomes C+ = 2.33 = 2 * 2.33 = 4.66 grade points
A 2-unit course you made an E in now becomes C = 2 points = 2 * 2 = 4.00 grade points and so on.

As usual, sum up all your grade points, and divide by the total number of units you did from first year to final year (excluding the units for all failed courses), that should gi

No, you only need WES evaluation for schools that require WES evaluation. For schools that want your transcripts mailed directly to them from your university in Nigeria, you do as they require. These schools often have their own in-house evaluations to evaluate foreign transcripts to the US scale.

However, for those that their Nigerian GPA is quite low, say less than 2.5/5.0, then there is only little you could do with your raw/direct transcript. It becomes best that you evaluate using WES (it has a favorable evaluation scale) to a slightly higher GPA, and apply specifically to schools that require WES evaluation, as applying to schools that require your direct transcript bearing your low Nigerian GPA won't give you much success.

You see eh, any school you find that waives SAT for undergraduate admissions, after you arrive school you often are required to take their own English and Math placement tests and most times you would spend the first semester taking English as a Second Language classes and/or math development classes, due to no SAT scores, before actually starting your college-level courses the following semester, which means that you end up paying more in school fees and spending an extra semester in school (instead of 8 semesters it becomes 9 semesters). At the end of the day the school gains because you pay more than necessary to them in school fees and you lose because you saved ordinary N30,000 or less SAT registration fee to pay over N300,000 to N500,000 or more in your first semester taking English classes that you probably know too well, due to what? I like to call that laziness to prepare and take an exam as simple as the SAT.

At the end of the day, all universities require SAT/ACT etc. for undergraduate admissions purposes and if the exam is not compulsory for admission, they still need it to waive the placement tests after you arrive, thus it is still best that you take the SAT or ACT and ace it so that the placement tests/ESL classes are waived and you go on straight to your university-level courses as soon as school starts, or else it is simply a case of penny wise, pound foolish.

thanks a lot for this broad explanation brother . Please do you have any idea where I can go apply for this exam and when I will take it? What are the things to expect from this SAT and TOEFL? Is it just a strictly English exam? I actually am targeting and hoping to start everything now and getting to the states by December or January if everything goes well . I have an idea of studying in either Australia or The US. Please which would you advice for a first time traveler ? And which would be less expensive? Can a budget of 3 to 4 million naira accomplish this for atleast a year? That's successfully pay for visa and everything involved and a year or two school fees ? Also does Australia require TOEFL and or SAT? Thanks a lot . I have no idea about any of this hence my much awkward weird questions bro

If s/he withholds this information and it's later uncovered, that could be grounds for a refusal. S/he would do well to disclose this.

I don't think withholding such Info now should cause Him/Her problem in future only if he/she is not planning to change status through them. But if he/she has plan of getting residency through them is better to state it, but it might be use against him/her like have mentioned earlier.... Is just a suggestion and advise for him/she to decline them now and get the Visa approved.

Pls these is just an advise or suggestion..... Best of luck

This advice is uninformed and ultimately worthless. It pains me to see how effortlessly the average Nigerian thinks about lying.

It’s october... you have no idea how to register for the SAT, you have no idea what school you will be applying to (or even the country!), their requirements and whether the school is worth your effort with respect to your long term goals (if you have any). You don’t know the structure of the exam neither are you prepared for it. You have no idea how much schoool will cost you, neither have you planned for contingency. All you know is that you want to be in the states by December (2 months away).

Yours is the most unserious post I’ve seen in the last week or two. Responding to you any further is a waste of time. He who fails to plan is simply planning for his own sure failure.

No one will be attending the school on your behalf. You should be evaluating schools based on YOUR goals and expectations. Pick up a phone, call the school and ask questions. Don’t be lazy.
