Different goals for different folks; some don't want to be like Elon Musk. They just want to feed their families. Your aim should be to motivate those ones who want to be like him and not to demotivate those ones who just want to hustle.
then that is too bad for Africa and that is too bad for the black race
don't misquote him i am not saying he should be like MUSK , i am just saying he should stop because he is able to feed ... i don't want to be like ELON MUSK

Help me tell am. A successful business is anything that brings in income. As long as the guy gets customers who bring income he has fulfilled his aim. All those Igbo multimillionaires in markets, was it not like this they began?
lols, it's not alway about income. It's about cash flow. What's going out and what's coming in. If what's going out is more than what's coming in, that's a loss. The business fails. Where is the customer? Bro, I will be sincere with you, the hardest thing to find in Nigeria is not capital, it is customers. There were more than one thousand igbo that started that business ooo, out of 100 startup businesses, 99 is likely to fail. My point is, the OP should have a solid Growth plan. If he is just waiting for daily customers, it might not be sustainable.

And yet I see people who have been in the business of selling shoes, clothes and other consumables for years and they are still going strong. What do you say?
compare it to the number of people that are not successful doing that same business..
compare it to the number of people that have quit venturing into that type of business ...
don't they matter ?

there is what we call luck ...
there was a time people are rushing USA because they hear a lot of people are successful going to USA ... but that is a very wrong assumption
take for example if 100 people apply for visa and were given visa ... obviously not all the 100 will fail we will see at least 20 out of 100 become successful .. the thing about success is that it spread faster than failure that is where you see news everywhere that you have higher chance of being successful if you travel abroad in search for greener pasture .. what about the remaining 80
same thing can be said for successful multimillionaires in market .. what about the number of unsuccessful one ..doesn't count ?
why do we have to make plans base on LUCK ... luck should be extras now the probability of him being successful in this type of business is 1/200,000,000
maybe we all have different definition of success ... maybe eating 3 times a day conveniently is success
Every month I see Igbo men release their boys to set up on their own and I hardly see the boys fail. So where did you get your probability from?

This business is akin to a day to day kiosk where one opens a mini store and claims he owns a business.

In business of these nature, people will only be happy for you on the first week and second week after then you begin to questions investment and slow pace of sale and on going.

Business of these nature do not spur growth they kill growth and innovation.

I expected O.P to add more to his ideas and promote it. A business where you can't give a projected estimate of where you did be in a certain period of time is not a business.

There are several ways he can reform his business still based on the shoes but now a different idea entirely.

What the O.P just did in all honesty is create another Shop on the streets without solving a problem.....

Some time two months ago while I was at a summit outside the country, a man said Nigerians have tons of entrepreneurs but they all lack one thing.- The ability to tell you what the problem their business are addressing.

If the O.P can state problem is business is addressing and work on this well he can succeed well.

Oh some might say capital is needed. Capital shouldn't be a problem, the idea is.

Thanks
u don't know wat u r talking abt.
As a business educator, i can tell u that this young man is on the right path.
Everyone must nt be an inventor to qualify as entrepreneur!
I know a lot of wholesalers and retailers that are very successful, apple, Gucci, Zara and other world brands do not have to open shops in all nooks and cranies, they leave that space for investors like this young man, who inturn brings some kind of value addition to the products like after sales services. Bcareful how u kill a dream in ur attempt to appear as intelligent, cos u know nothing about the world of economic activities.

Never should anyone listen to this type of advice to forget NYSC. as long as Nigeria is till concerned Nysc certificate is required and that One year is never a waste unless you choose to waste it yourself.

There are many opportunities in life and one should never limit oneself, there is no you can ever apply for in Nigeria without Nysc, oil and gas, federal government jobs, banking, audit etc

Also scholarships applications require NYSC cert.

I'm sure you still remember Dino Meleye

Pls endeavor to complete your one year NYSC and it's never a waste. That some people wasted their one year does not mean you cannot engage in meaningful things, learn and acquire skills.

NYSC is a NECESSARY "evil". It's just wise to get it done and be free from any future consequences.

No sir. You are.

You just don't want to accept the truth. You don't expect everyone to praise everyone. We all have views and opinions
See dude irrespective of your knowledge about business strategies, your type are Definitely good on papers than practicals, I can authoritatively tell you that your type and the likes of business mentors do not make it in business because y'all try to copy the whiteman module and model which obviously do not work for African, here in Nigeria.... Business and entrepreneur means profitable ventures for us as far as you can pay bills from it, then later you expand if need be,
OGA, My Chairman was an apprentice, later started selling wine in a small shop, later he went into partnership with wine makers and started importing wines into the country, later see need to go into food importation and ventured into it, now he is Building factories were most of the things he import are manufactured hereby identifying a need which is creating employment. I can tell you atleast 5 of his products which you use daily which are Eva soap, if you are a wine lover.... I can tell that you consume his wines, do you actually use olive oil for your cooking... Obviously its either you are using Goya or Laser oil.
Uncle in business, we Africans don't start big, you start small and grow Bigger. Tuface didn't wake up and started Rumours night club, he first started as an upcoming artiste, gather much, set up the first one at Ikeja which was even below clubing standard..... Now go to Rumours V.i and see for yourself. I rather start small with my finances and part of what my family where able to provide than to start that big with bank loann only for me to end the first 5/10years on paying back. Mind you that thats his hard earned money not Looted Deziani money. I guess you really need to have a rethink about your business ideology because both Facebook and Apple started from Garage, the need they even identified are the same need other companies are also providing as service as well.
OP God bless the work of your hands and if it is your passion, you will start designing sneakers and produce abroad like China, until the real administration comes to motivate startups and enterprenurs then you can start making it in Nigeria. For now, do aggressive online marketing for your brand, thats a lovely business name you got

lol that is because you are seeing what you are looking for ...if i am looking for Gold every other metals won't matter again
if i am to do a market research, i would look at people that have succeed doing the same type of business and also look for people that have failed

if the amount of people that failed is way higher than people that succeed then it's because they are the first to get there or luck..
like i said earlier success news spread faster than failure

you think he is doing good because he posts fine pictures. This is a bad compliment! Let him post his papers and figures over the next year, then you commend him.

Yeah he must innovate. Most of the Igbo guys who enter business succeed. I have done my calculations and have observed for several years. At least they pay their children's school fees and feed well. That to me is enough success in an economy where the majority are poor. Nigeria can only accommodate a handful of Elon muskeque business men.

He has started at the level his capital has allowed him to..... do you want him to start at the top?...or not start at all?....like sooo many others?

It's confusing that you later acknowledged it as a business after saying it's not a business.

He has explained, he is a business guru, you are a guru in your right, branding the young man's dream a failure from the start is not way of encouraging the business or any other person reading for that matter. Moreover the issues he raised were already answered by the man who posted his start up. Take one of his businesses for example: Selling Yams. Everyone sells yams everywhere, he only bought from a distant place at a cheaper rate and sold for a margin! It is a crude trade, dirty, yet it fetched him money and thats exactly what this young chap is doing.

I wont take back the insult, am sorry.

dking123:

pls explain.let us all learn. i know that some businesses fail from the start. what is the problem with this one?
The man Ymodulus is a business guru. instead of insulting him,its better you ask him to explain. you may learn one or two things from him.

I'm a self grown businessman. I know the level I started 2yrs ago plus with how much. what my asset Base is 100times what I started with but still more vista keep opening for expansion and growth. So whatever your business concept is, shear it with prospective startups who choose to be your followers not daring startups like the op or me with many years with practical business experience, meanwhile why the insult?

Mr. Phoool, (The bible says this of atheist, sorry),

As legendary as they make you believe, you are too dull for an intellectual conversation since you have whipped up a nonsensical 5% jargon that some media never-do-wells have thumped into your head. Well, I understood the President's analogy, what you have not clarified on the subject under debate is why the lad's business is not a good enough start up. For a recent graduate who has all his youthfulness ahead of him to start, succeed/fail but ultimately to learn and re-invest, he has started well.

Mind you, you do not hold the prism to gauge everyone's success just because you do some successful businesses. Now this is my opinion.
Bloody '95%ish' bully.

Ymodulus:

Mr man,

Whatever you want to say. I have said my opinion and view and if you not happy with it, then am sorry go meet someone to kiss sweet melodies into your ears.

Last I checked this is a platform for everyone to make a comment and next time when you want to insult me do it in English and stop giving your tribe a bad name.

This is one of the reasons some people labeled your tribe 5% and show hatred.

Rubbish
