pls can you tell us the price of the same size of bread in Kenya in shillings, let's do the math's n see the true strong currency in real terms pls,I'm very interested in this stuff.
im assuming 1 kenyan shilling is equal to 3 naira.....so you people buy bread at roughly 100 kenyan shillings......we buy bread at 50 kenyan bob....and mind you we are crying out inflation....during the kibaki era(some 4 yrs ago...)bread was 30 bob.......your country is really inlfated in my opinion...

Complete show of ignorance.

This is how many Nigerians assume they are experts in Economics.

The value of your currency is not measured by the figure it exchanges against other currencies but what it can buy.

300 Naira can buy you a loaf of bread in Nigeria but can 10 Kenyan shillings buy you that same loaf?

When you change that money what can it buy? That is the true value. Your nominal value does not mean much.

nice bro I now understand

It is nauseating, pathetic and annoying to read this nonsense coming someone who doesn't know anything outside their village.

Those Nigerians in Rwanda and Senegal must have been ravaged by poverty

Young man, i have lived in a country considered to be greatest country in the world which is USA and i am currently living in another one called United Kingdom.

Like i said earlier, i have been to 6 countries out of those listed countries and they are nothing to write home about except Egypt. Egypt is the only country at Nigeria level in terms of standard of living, infrastructures etc

Those friends of yours must be going through hell in one village in Nigeria

I know what i am talking about

Egypt is not the only country at Nigeria's level. What about South Africa, Botswana, Kenya etc.? Please there are quite a few countries with a better or similar level of infrastructure than Nigeria, that also have a better standard of living.

The only country in Africa that can push Nigeria to the back comfortably is South Africa. The rest are nothing to write home about except Egypt and about one or two North Africa countries.

Nigeria is far ahead of Kenya. Fact!

Kenya and Ghana are in the same league with Lagos state alone.

Oga, I beg to disagree. Kenya, Botswana and South Africa have a lot of things you can write about. Power supply in each of these countries, beats our own hands down. Not to even talk of road infrastructure and others. You need to visit these countries to appreciate how far they have gone in terms of infrastructure, and standard of living. Don't look at size or landmass or population alone. Yes, Nigeria is bigger than those 3 countries, but is it better in terms of infrastructure and standard of living? No.

Even Namibia as small as it is, is also not a bad place.

As far as Africa is concerned, no country come close to Nigeria except south Africa. I am a seasoned economist and I am telling you that fact. Kenya and Ghana are in the league of just Lagos. And you know what, the GDP of Lagos is higher than both countries. I repeat in Africa, only south Africa can withstand Nigeria when it comes to economic growth (GDP) in the whole of Africa. What the value of naira can purchase, the equivalent in other African countries can not buy it except south African Rand. It's an indisputable fact.

You must be a fool. And you know what, you have answered my question already in your comments. If you spend 5k rupees which is equivalent to 50k naira in Nigeria as you stated for self contain in Mauritius. It shows Nigeria's currency which is naira has higher value than rupees because average rent of self contained apartment in Nigeria is between 10k-15k per month with good facilities .

You must be an illiterate if you think in this lifetime Mauritius can ever be compared to Nigeria. I am sure the GDP of my state in Nigeria, Edo state is still far ahead of Mauritius. If you want me to give you statistics to back my claims, holla at me. I have travelled to several countries in Africa and I repeat none is in Nigeria league except south Africa. Why do you think it is only south Africa companies among Africa countries that is able to penetrate into Nigeria market? Do you know the number of countries in Africa our indigenous companies has expanded into?

I hope you know Lagos is a mega city and it is also the smallest state in term of Land size in Nigeria. Because Lagos is a mega city and has a population of 21 million people, it is overcrowded. And that will surely comes with its challenges which you have stated. But from purely economic angle, Lagos is the fifth largest economy in the whole of Africa.

There is incredible investment in infrastructural development as well as on security in Lagos state. Because the current governor acknowledge the challenges that comes with mega city such as Lagos.

With regards to Nigerians living in Ghana or Kenya for greener pastures, you need to understand that migration is natural to human race on earth. People will always have different reasons for migrating from one countries to the other. We have large number of Chinese, Indians, etc working for companies in Nigeria. Does that mean Nigeria's economy is better than China economy? Figure it out by yourself.

I guess the naira has more value than the dollar cos cutting your hair cost less in Nigeria than in the US and UK.

That's just a typical example. I actually wanted a very simple one that you could understand. I lived and worked in Ghana, everything from food to transport to utilities like cutting your hair or watching a match is relatively more expensive than Nigeria. Means that you'd still use the Naira to acquire more in those countries is the point I'm trying so hard to make.

you really impress me with the chinese are also migrating talk....the chinese are building roads and infrastructure....what kind of development are nigerians doing in foreign soil.On sunday i went to collect a nigerian who came to visit kenya at jomo kenyatta airport(jkia)The guy was impressed right from the airport, our airport shocked him, when we reached the highway (mombasa road) he was amazed on how big and good they are.....sm1 from lagos is shocked about the status of kenyan airports and roads and you are telling us nigeria is better?im yet to ask him about electricity , constant water ,highspeed internet, and many more kenya has offered him.The common man does not care about gdp but the basic amenities.Gdp comes because of tax,and we know all the tax goes to your leaders accounts through corruption.

The stressed out Nigerian who returns home at night to no electricity supply situation does not care about the GDP, a high GDP that does not guarantee basic utilities makes no sense!

Ghana is an expensive place to live.
Wages in Ghana are much higher

Let me shock you guys

Take it or leave it, Nigeria is better than 96% of those countries

I have been to 6 to 7 countries on that list and my experience opened my eyes to what we are enjoying as Nigerians which are not available in those countries.

Before my first trip out of Nigeria, i thought Nigeria is the worst country in the world until i left Nigeria to study in other countries.

I swear with my life, Nigeria is like a paradise to most of those countries

I think someone here should be able to testify to what i am saying.

I was treated like a King in those countries when i told the local students that i am from Nigeria.

I became a patriotic Nigerian when i saw the way these citizens appreciate what i failed to appreciate in my country.

Above all, in terms of standard of living, infrastructures etc, Nigeria is on top in Africa.

Thank you for the observation. Citizens of other African countries will come to Nigerian forum and still have the effrontery to call Nigeria a shiit country. Where as you will hardly see any Nigerian on a Kenyan forum or other African countries' forum to comment. Because no Nigerian give a damn about their forum.

You hardly see Nigerians on other African forums not because they don't care about those countries( cus they clearly do, why else would they flock to them in numbers) but because those countries don't discuss you. Get it ? . You won't find a south african forum discussing or insulting you even with all the filth you are known for.
