My Transcript.

V.O: Good Morning

Me: Good Morning Ma

V.O: Pass me your Passport and I20, please be fast I don't have all day

Me: Passed it sharply

V.O: (Picked my passport and scan it, without picking up my I-20) Why are going to the US.

Me: I'm going to the US to study a Masters Degree in Nutrition Sciences at the Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas.

V.O: Why are you going to the US when you can study it online.

Me: Nutrition Science is a practical applied science that focus on dietary concerns and health issues relating to food choices, eating and medicine and going to the US will provide the best practical knowledge (V.O cuts me).

V.O: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: 3 schools, Texas Woman's University, Florida International University and Oklahoma State University.

V.O: Why this school?


ME: I choose TWU over others because the program focuses on Nutrition Intervention, Diet Therapy and also Nutrition Intervention using Evidence-Based nutrition practice which is Inline with my Career Path. I also fell in love with Prof. Vicky Imrhan Research on the role of Nutrition in the prevention and treatment of the chronic disorders like Diabetes and Cancer.

V.O: Did you do any test for this course?

ME: Yes, I did GRE and TOEFL

V.O: Who is going to pay for all this?

Me: My Mother

V.O: What does she do?

Me: She is a successful entrepreneur that owns a Food Processing Company, Cosmetics Production and Distribution company as well as a Private school.

V.O: Im sorry Bla Bla Bla...Passes the Blue Paper.

Me: Composed myself and marched out of the hall

Please people what did I do wrong.

I am planning to reapply again but I need to get it right. Kindly help!

The main cause of your denial is because your course is online rather than on-campus. I am quite surprised that your school even prepared and released an I-20 for you to study an online course because most schools generally do NOT give international students I-20 for online programs, only for programs that require them to be physically present on campus. Other than that, your other responses were ok, and I strongly believe that you would have been granted your visa had you been there with an on-campus admission. If you have another on-campus admission, switch to that school and go to the embassy again. With an online admission, your chances are very low.

official rate Uncle Buhari removed some time ago so if you want to pay school fees via the bank as an example no bank will give you 305 ... more around 360

Go to your account profile and edit your mailing address to that of the school you wish WES to send your transcript to upon completion, no need for extra recipient except you are applying to more than one school that also needs WES evaluation. That brings your total payment down to $212. You should be able to remove the extra recipient (to yourself).

Will Wes send transcript to schools of will one have to send his/Her transcripts to schools even though he will send Wes evaluation as most schools still ask for official transcripts. What can one do to save cost especially when applying to multiple schools

See eh, if your evaluation has not been completed yet, you can enter the address of the school you are applying to as your mailing address. You are entitled to one free copy mailed out to the address you list as mailing address on your profile, which you can change to that of the school you are applying to. You will still be able to view a free copy of it online any day anytime so you do not necessarily need a hard copy. Any extra copies you want mailed out to any place/school etc. costs $37.

Usually the online transcript pops up in a new tab/window where you can view/scroll up and down. You could print it out if you want.

After evaluation, WES sends the converted one to the US university directly. You only need to do WES evaluation to apply to universities that require WES-evaluated transcripts. If the US school wants your transcript directly from your university in Nigeria, then WES evaluation is NOT required. WES evaluation is only required for universities that want it. However, for those with quote low gpas, usually below 2.0/5.0 on our scale (most US schools have 3.0/4.0 as minimum GPA requirement while some have 2.5/4.0 as minimum), there is not much you can do with it in terms of applying to schools that want your transcript directly from your former university in Nigeria. It is strongly recommended that you evaluate with WES (which bumps up your low gpa to a higher one on the 4-point scale) and apply specifically to schools that require WES-evaluated transcripts to boost your chances of admission.

1. The course is offered both online and Classroom but I applied for 100% Classroom.
2. Its not written on the I-20. I guess she knows about the school or there was a background check.
