How is this FIFA ranking calculated?
Nigeria dropping 3 spots in Africa is ridiculous after drawing Algeria away?
While Cameroon moved up for drawing Zambia away

yeah....what the team needs now is cohesion and to perfect strategies and tactics not time to start testing players everywhere....

I will want kayode or dessers....dessers is more of a top 9 and someone I believe will turn out to be a gem....in the future...and also useful to us in Qatar 2022 quest.
Time for testing is limited now. To continue to test is to confuse yourself.

Oh!

That's enough for someone his age, I doubt any tram would take him a loan straight to their starting lineup.
Uzoho got his national team opportunity cos he kept in two LA liga matches not cos he was doung well in division 3,meaning he need to force his way back into contention for Deportivo number 1.

I believe he can do it,division 3 might be good for his age but not good for national team.

Remember Alampasu was in division 3 last season and cos of that we believe he was not good enough to keep for Eagles.

I see Uzoho as potential eagles number 1 but keeping in div 3 w not help him,LA liga 2 should be enough for him to develop as eagles number 1 if he can get a loan deal.

and in the goal keeping department.... alampasu....
then the team is complete...
I agree with you 100%
But have you watch that Desser play? how does he play

'New pretenders '?
Why the tone of derogation? Imagine, imagine. Why is he not there? Abeggi. The Argentines were beaten both technically and on the energy levels. Do you know where that energy comes from? It comes from the sheer youthfulness of the team. Rohr has an unmistakable plan to reduce the average age of the team. In fact he was running high and solo with that intention before the game against SA gave him course to have a rethink. With Mikel, Musa, Moses, Onazi, Echiejile and Omeruo there's ample experience in the team.

Rohr's vision is forward. He's been testing young players. Have you seen him test them papi Martins and co? Can't you see the signs? The man is thinking about the future. The only old guard that stands a chance is Enyeama. Martins and co will not even get a look in. I don tell you.

That's how you spoke condescendingly of Ebuehi while speaking high of Aina. Ebuehi gets on the pitch and shows he's quality. Please don't call this young ones 'new pretenders'. I know that the Martins you hanker so much after became our forward when he was young. The young pretenders qualified us for the World Cup. Give them that respect. They more than deserve it.

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders......
It is really an amazing year. Nigeria has qualified once again for the world cup. Kudos to the boys, the coaching crew and the NFF.......
However I am not too impressed with folks that keep scaring us with seeding and all. First of all, whatever group Nigeria gets seeded to, is the right group to qualify from. Let us understand one fact that there is no easy group. Have we ever stopped to ask ourselves how qualified countries managed to qualify? If we could come out of the group that was termed "group of death" with a game to spare, then quite frankly, anything is possible if and only if we have faith.

I see some folks say they want Iceland, poland, and Saudi in our group. I must say they are not easy as well. And frankly all the supposed big teams can wobble and fumble at any given time. It happened in Korea Japan 2002 World cup, with teams like france, Argentina and the likes failin to progress fro the group stages.

Its a case of who wants it the most and what are you willing to do to get what you want....what we need to do is to start preparing for the world cup. That is the part that is of utmost importance. OUR PART!!! We have no control over who gets into our group but we do have control over the quality of players we are fielding per time @ the world cup as well as our preparedness. End of story!

So in my opinion, let Nigeria field her best legs, not sentimental legs. Whoever doesnt make the cut should not feel bad. There can only be 23 players at the tournament proper. We should perfect all strategies, game plans, formations, and personnels needed. We should start sizing up opponents as soon as the draws are made, and thoroughly look at the coaches of our opponents to know their mind set... we should analyse our team from a 3rd party perspective and audit each department of our team. Find out the lapses and correct them asap. And this is why a forum like Nairaland is important. Here we look at all the team flaws whether glaring or obscured. As it is said, One cannot audit a process that you are part of, the coaching crew needs to pay attention to concerns raised here. Quality friendlies should also do some trick. Wishing Super Eagles the best in Russia! I hope we win........

Questence:

He's all dribble no end result. Same issue with Musa yahaya.

Coaches these days prefer results to skills. Even senior man Ronaldo when asked why he's not been displaying skills like before responded that he decided to focus on scoring goals rather than skills.

How many of his games have you watched to make that conclusion.

He's still 21 and I'm sure he'd mature to a special player if he puts his mind to it.

This is the first time I'm seeing this moniker here. You officially welcome to the thread.

What a pity if only Mel had not been sacked, what makes the situation worse is that the current goalkeeper is not as good as uzoho all they needed to do was show a little more faith since he handed himself well in his debut.
How can this amount of talent that is suitable for a whole Nigeria NT already, how can that player be reduced to 3rd division matches.
Those Sparniads don't even give a shit about Africans. Hopefully he gets a loan in January.

My fear is that his new coach might not be as courageous to as the former one who had faith in him.

I say we start looking elsewhere, Emmanuel Daniels is a good keeper, my problem with him is his height and he's not getting games presently, we should see more of Ajiboye in the CHAN next Month.

But Ezenwa is the captain of that team. see yawa.

Modified: Mind you, The coach is not interested in making decisions that would benefit a certain national team, as there are players from other countries as well.

Some persons here are not in Europe but just by taking advantage of the Internet and other sources of information they've brought other players to our attention - players like Dessers, Olayinka, Adegbenro, Onuachu, Bonaventure etc. What amazes me is that I cannot recollect you saying anything about this guys. You have not said ohh Dessers, what's the noise about this guy. Let me check him out. No you don't and won't do that simply because he's not in the EPL or championship or league one.
As a lover of the Super Eagles, our eyes scan every continent and region looking for who can fit into the team. The moment we hear of any player doing well we check him out, we try- even if inadequately- through youtube videos to size him up to see if he's quality. But you are stuck with UK FB players. Not bad. But try and check others out and remove that notion from your mind that good players cannot be found in the lower rungs of the lowest leagues. Dele Alli proves that that notion is plausible but not an absolute truth.

All I read here is rant full of sentiments devoid of cogent facts.

First of all, I have never downplayed top leagues aside EPL neither have I canvessed only for English groomed player saved that mushroom lowly rated Norwegian league you and your cohorts want to force down the throats of football loving people of Nigeria. And I will keep downgrading and be resistance to any player from those back water leagues outside the top 10 or 15 leagues in the world except such player is considered one of the best players in such leagues. If you like carry Cambridge and Oxford take write grammar full ground, you no fit stop me.

Moreover, I can see you are trying so add to downgrade English groomed players because you are obviously ignorant or perhaps being mischievous at best. If not, how come you don't know Lampard, Gerard, Rooney, Bale, Ashley Cole, Owen Hargreaves, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Andy Cole, Mac Manaman, Ryan Gigs, Michael Owen, John Terry etc added much more value to the EPL and to the biggest clubs in EPL, and they are English groomed players, huh? Or are these players mediocre at best in your own world of grading standards? :oo grin

And pls pls pls, don't tell us best players in the world can only be found in the EPL. Abi, Messi, Ronaldo, Kroos, Suarez, etc are playing in their homelands leagues? Remove all the foreign players in the La liga and you have a dead league, and same goes with Bundusliga, Ligue 1 etc. So, don't come here to deceive people that it is only in EPL foreign players makes it thick. Na fat lie.

Let me make this clear to you, all the Champion League trophies won by British clubs in the last 10 years had at least 4 English groomed players in the first 11, and only the Spanish team had won that trophy in the last 10 years than the English club. Tell me another lies.

Therefore, the inability to translate their enormous talent into English national team has nothing to do with talent but fatigue. Go make research before you start portraying yourself as ignoramus. grin

So, because you want to have a blend we should ignore players in the best leagues for obscure leagues players, ba? shocked grin

Oga, look around your SE and just list your top 5 players without the so called English groomed players.

My friend, we must choose from the best we have.thank you
You misunderstood his point. He's not saying England has no great players. He's saying for all the great players England has they have never had a great team because of constant change. So all your other talk about champions league are by the way yarns.

His emphasis is on the team rather than on players. Having the best players does not necessarily mean having the best team. He is saying it's time for us to optimise what we have and not throw it away just because we want to go with the best. If we follow you and komekn we will have brand new team to go to Russia full of players like Solanke, Ajagun, Azeez, Ryan Sanusi, Onomah, Aneke, Seyi Ojo, Kayode, Iorfa, Thiago Ilori. And this is precisely what cost us in 2002 and 2014 which we took note to warn the NFF about.

Now is the time for cohesion and blending. Pata pata baring injury we would bring in four or five players into the team for the WC.

Our football stretches beyond 2018.They will get their chance post 2018.

Here you are my friend.... Reeling out names like a cinema spool. Question is what have these players you mentioned achieved internationally? I dare say were it not for EPL and media hype, they would not hamd made it big. If you dont believe me, bring Wayne Rooney over to shootin stars and lets see his magic at taking them from lower tier league to upper level.

While we hope for the best, fact is the best may not entirely be in England, so please yall need to stop this stuff about hyping players. There are thousands that are yet to be doscovered, playing their game quietly. With what we have in the national team right now, balance and understanding is paramount to us and not some 3Lions rejects.

But still that doesnt translate them to the best in the world. We have to understand that it is how the coach chose to deploy them that made things happen. He's moved to a bigger club that are no relegation candidates, and he's gotten 8 goals already, is it until he plays for Ajax or Fayenord before you see him enough to hype. He plays for according to you "not a better club" and he's shining there, do you think he'd fail in a bigger club when he eventually moves.

FC Utrecht are a better team than one he played before, now he's out there and his visibility has increased, don't be surprised if he gets another big money move, because this is no rocket science, we've seen players play in teams that tells nothing about their qualities.

How many of his games have you watched to make that conclusion.

He's still 21 and I'm sure he'd mature to a special player if he puts his mind to it.

This is the first time I'm seeing this moniker here. You officially welcome to the thread.

The Connecticut Lottery has an iconic TV promo, back when I lived there, it says, you can't win if you don't play.

Our boys haven't progressed because, in some cases, they haven't really been given a chance to play. You can't progress if you don't play. Take the case of Kelechi, for instance, how many games has he started and completed at Leicester since the beginning of the season? Now, people would expect him to score 20 goals per season just by playing 10 mins per match, here and there. If our players start one or two games without hitting it out the park then they are exiled onto the bench for the foreseeable future. Now, how do you expect them to perform wonders? Do you know that sitting on the bench does damage to one confidence?

I don't know if you know my story but I speak from experience when I say some of these things.

As an African player you have to be twice as good as your European/american counterpart, if not, you get the bench - Jay Jay okocha 2017
