The idea will be to utilize Valencia to his fullest, very close to what he does for Ecuador. He will offer energy, pace and protection to the midfield. He helps out defence and carries the ball forward fast either through the middle or in the wing.

Even if Valencia overlaps, our defence shape will be intact with Jones pinning the right back.

Pogba will finally be free to express himself while Valencia and Herrera cover his mess. Pogba is given more licence to adventure forward.

Jamie Carragher analysed Paul Pogba's Manchester derby performance on Monday Night Football, describing his first-half display as "ill-disciplined".

Carragher said Pogba's positioning throughout the first half left his midfield team-mate exposed to David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, who impressed as City grabbed the initiative before holding on for victory.

"Pogba has cost what he has cost and he has done what he has done, he's not a kid. He is 23. You find yourself looking at situations where Man Utd are leaving acres of space in the most important part of the pitch against a Pep Guardiola team.
"His job, when you are playing in a two in midfield, is to be disciplined, especially against Silva and De Bruyne. It is either he has got it wrong or Mourinho has given him licence to do what he wants and that is wrong."
Carragher and fellow Monday Night Football analyst Phil Neville also discussed how Man Utd can get the best out of Pogba in the future, with the pair agreeing a three-man midfield is necessary for big games.
"I have criticised Pogba for his performance, but he has great talent and abilities," Carragher added.
"I wouldn't say you would ever build a team around one man, but if you've spent that much money, I think if you are picking your team, you say, 'Where are we getting the best out of him?' Then others can work around that.

I don't understand the hate for Rooney. The guy played well.

Mkhitaryan will have his time, the season is very long. I actually struggled to see Mkhitaryan on the pitch until injury time and when Southampton had no hope of coming into the game again.

Pogba is money well spent.

I like Bailly's jumping power, but there is some areas he need to mature.

Valencia and Shaw always tucked in while we are defending with Mata and Martial covering the wide for them. Not too sure we did fine with it, but it was okay to put plenty bodies in the box.

Fellaini was good again. But together with Pogba and Rooney, we will need to 'charge' the opponents harder.

You no know law. First, match day analysis is not a general statement. Just like I said Ibrahimovic is slow and cant go on vs one with a defender. It doesn't mean he has never done anything like that, it only meant he is not in form or past it. . Similarly, when I say Martial cannot do a long distance run with the ball. There must be assessment of current form. It is different from writing off a player and saying he is a waste of money.

Lastly, lazy and shitty were not even in the original change. Pogba was slow and lazy in the first half of last season. Go and read analysis of Pogba around November last year. We all knew his potentials but he was playing poorly.
