That you are even asking this shows the sorry state Christianity is in today. It's all about money. Let's not pretend you give a damn or care about any of those 'poor' people. They are just numbers to you.

Hope you will follow them up after the program is over.

Honeypie grin the church has been following them up. Even today, they visited them and even drove them to a special program organized mainly for them.

You give the church all your real things, and in return, you get promises of imaginary things. That’s not a fair deal. Please wake up!

If a church truly believes in eternity, they should give money to their members during this life in exchange for 10% of their members’ “eternal rewards”.

Christ said that the way to give to him is by giving to the needy. If you must give your all to Christ, give it to the needy in your community.

Payment of tithe and giving offering in Church does not stop giving to the needy.
Over time I have observed that many people who attack others over payment of tithes and giving offering do not even help the needy. People who are engaged more on Kingdom development do more charity........

If you are conversant with Nigerian Crusades, you'll know that most "converts" are usually very poor and possess little or no education at all.
1) I don't really believe you.
2) Even if most (i.e. more than 50%) of converts were poor, it would still be financially beneficial to pursue them for the sake of the minority (less than 50%) who are rich. The tithes of a single rich, learned soul can cover the cost of pursuing many poor and uneducated souls.

The ones who dedicate their time and effort to follow up these converts often use their own personal resources without reimbursement from any one.
Agreed. They pay tithes and, on top of that, provide free labor to the organisation that collects their tithes. They're part of the sheeple too.

Now how much tithe can you get from an unemployed man? How much tithe can you get from an uneducated widow who lives on the goodwill and support of friends and family?
You can get quite a lot from unemployed men and uneducated widows if you convince them to pay tithes on the financial values of any gifts that they receive. If you have hundreds of thousands of them in your church, their tithes add up to very significant amounts. If you watch the audience in any Winners Chapel or Christ Embassy video, the vast majority of them are skinny, inexpensively dressed, regular people.

You are myopic sir.
I mean you couldn't even see beyond your nose and popular knowledge.
Soul winning benefits first the object - the convertee cos he has eternity in view
second the subject - the converter cos he has eternal rewards
Evidently then, church growth is just a right consequence with responsibility to ensure that the convertees are nurtured and brought up according to sound doctrine and godly principles. Tithe and Offering is an evidence of a vibrant and sacrificial Christian Life. If God gave His Son, Christ gave His Life, we reciprocate by giving our ALL. Money is just one of the things we give: We give our time, talent, strength, Life, goals, ambitions, desires.
Seun, you can be an IT guru or one of the brightest and richest young entrepreneurs, I make it bold to say that you are spiritually empty and be sure that a life without Christ will end empty and damned for all eternity!

You are a great man on earth...You deserve greatness on the other side...You need Jesus!
May God help you find him. Amen!

Churches aren’t winning souls, by the way. Just taking souls from each other. Virtually all souls 'won' by churches come from other churches.

You're not entirely wrong there but has there been evidence that the souls won from the crusade were all once active in a former church?

I think he's entirely correct, you might have your reservations with the word "Stealing" but you have to agree that if by any chance we ask for the religious affiliation of the attendees of this Bonkke crusade we'll see that the overwhelming majority would be Christians already, so the question now boils down to "Is a soul won when a Christ Embassy member becomes a deeper life member?"
Most/all deeper lifers would answer an emphatic yes to that while CE members would disagree

Do you have to be active in your church to be a Christian?

People attend crusades for miracles. They respond to altar calls because they feel that they have sinned (who hasn’t?) and want to ensure that their sins won’t block their access to miracles. Responding to an altar call is considered as the best guarantee that you are fully forgiven. Most of those people are just Christians feeling guilty.

I believe this because in spite of the frequent well-funded outreaches of the rich tithe-collecting churches, there is no evidence that the percentage of Christians in the country is increasing or that the percentage of Muslims and atheists is dropping.

Stop talking along a single line, cut across the divides also..... That makes it fair.
You mean I should make pro-church comments too? I guess I support the building of universities by churches.

Sorry, I sometimes forget that facts I take for granted may sound shocking to people who have never had their beliefs challenged. I’ve noticed that the backlash for criticizing deeper life is stronger than the backlash for criticizing Christ Embassy or Synagogue church. undecided

Spot on!!
So I finally found someone that shares this same opinion as me. They tag it "soul winning", but I tag it "soul stealing" grin. You won't believe that someone like me at my level of christianity, "they" still harass me to come to "their" church (I've been born again for ages-I gave my life to christ as a little child in primary school!). This thing is so much that I even took time to observe and did a little investigation on this attitude and I found out that the 2 churches that do it the most, are deeper life and christ embassy (no apologies!). In other words, basically, it is mostly done by churches that always feel that they are the only right church. First, christ embassy people tend to act like they are the ones that have "the real proper revelation of the word", that other christians don't know "the word" and are learners-yes I've heard that! Then deeper life people on their part, tend to believe that other churches are virtually clubs and their members are worldly, sinners and not holy-because they do music, wear jeweleries and dress fine and not like deeper life's type of dressing-housemaid/olden days dressing. grin. These are some of the reasons why they always harass people in other churches to come to theirs-it's always these 2 churches, ALWAYS! Just do a little investigation and you'll that see I'm right. I know church and christianity like the back of my palm-I've been in church all my life and as I said earlier, gave my life to Christ as a little child.

Now let me shock you with this. Am a servant of God but recently working as a security guard with a big mega church in Lagos. I was on duty when one man approached me and told me he wanted to give an invitation to the church. Concerning Reinhard bonnke,s program that he wanted to give the letter to one of the pastor. I collected the letter myself. And send it to the right quarter. But at the end of the day after I introduced myself to the man. He said he a member of PFN I said oh I used be a member, we greeted and he gave me one. One day the man came again and asked me if am still with that letter and I said yes. He asked me to bring it that he will photo copy it and give me back. You know what? He has seen a richer person whom he thinks that can give them reasonable amount of money believe me he disappear and never come back to me.

What they need's is who Will give them money and not who will make heaven.

Good morning.

I agree with you but one or two other churches also sacrificed valuable time to spend with their families by sleeping in various hostels for the crusade from Wednesday to Sunday without any tangible monetary reward.

Deeper truly left an indelible mark with the way they embraced other churches in their hostels, I mean deeper life hostels, they accommodated other churches in their hostels.

God bless you Sir. I was trying to quote you but ended up quoting a wrong person. Me and the guy ola has a different view about the whole issue on ground.

The first day of the crusade, I witnessed about 15 to 20 of big Brt side Deeper life buses, I was told that some of my members came through deeper life buses.

PASTOR Kumuyi has taught me something, he has really left an indelible mark on me.

He is a true man of God.

OUR WATCHWORD

TEXT: LUKE 12:1-12

"In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy" (Luke 12:1).

Jesus identified the leaven as the insincerity and hypocrisy of the of the Pharisees. They observed outward ceremonies of religion without inner and character transformation. Many today have the appearance of obedience to codes and regulations without corresponding piety.

The Pharisees always gathered to listen to Jesus with sinister motives. Jesus knew and still knows what is in the heart of man. He knew that the multitude that gathered did not come to be helped out of their spiritual blindness. Most of them had come to find a word to ensnare Him.

Jesus was not deterred by their schemes and wicked plots. He knew them and what they had come to do. Jesus therefore, advised His disciples to be resolute in their faith in God and in their commitment to the work of the Kingdom. He urged them never to fear any mortal but only God who had the ability to deliver and destroy now and in the world to come.

Most times, we misread the motives of those who attend our fellowship meetings; who come to spy out the simplicity of our worship and the commitment of genuine souls. They pretend they are with us but they come to cause division and to lead others astray. They come to criticise and water down the word of God. They are those who point us to other churches, how strict we are and the need to lower the standard to accommodate others. It takes a spiritual eye to see such insincerity. Many people have been led out of faith and destroyed.

As believers, we must not be drawn into any fellowship that is capable of corrupting our convictions in the Lord.
