Good day sir,
I applied for 3 University and 2 gave me admission. The 2 skools that gave me admission required standardized tests but they gave me options of standardized test or work verification and a Case Study was sent to me online to answer and submit, which i did very well in the Case Study. My G.P.A is 4.2/5.0. I graduated 2011 and have been working since 2013. Will my not taking a standardized test be an issue? Ur response will be highly appreciated. My interview is next month.

Those are probably useless schools. Don't waste your money. A serious school will not use work verification in lieu of a standardized test.

I have seen transcript with no standardised test given visa so i think its the overall body of work. How you respond to all the questions and then how your profile looks on your . Hope it a standard school not one man building

check previous transcript to see those who were given without any test . Although we have already recommended doing Test

that is not the reason, it's not even a 'small' school at all. Even if the VO told you that, you should have corrected him/her. The school has thousands upon thousands of students. The VOs don't know all. You just have to prove you're a genuine student regardless of whether it's a so called 'small or big ' school & ask for God's favour. Moreover, there is no 'big or small' school as long as you can prove your worth
Stay blessed

I bet you the VOs take a look at the school before your interview. Considering that the VOs are Americans, who probably also attended American colleges, i would wager they know more than you do about what constitutes a small or big school.

You personally should suggest the best way you will answer this assuming you were in this kinda situation ... thanks
.

.
.The point is , the school is offering two types of GIS ... one is MBA GIS and the other is PSM ( professional science masters)GIS and I applied for PSM in GIS .... so i can't get admitted with only Toefl if I applied for MBA In Gis .. because it requires GRE .... so in this kinda situation... if I am asked if I wrote any ST .... is it advisable to say yes and present my Toefl ??

lol. We're posting at the same time. For if you took any ST, your answer is no, then tell them it's not needed for your admission but you have TOEFL with you. Try pass the result to the VO. It's left for him/her to receive it or not. If you have a good academic credential or good work experience, try emphasize on this instead. Though this won't change the fact that you don't have a ST but the VO might be interested in something different in your application. Don't state the two types of GIS, if you do, you will shoot yourself in the foot.

My school is the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania and it's a grade A- University in the US. Taking the GRE or GMAT wouldn't have been a problem if my school had not given me options.

smiles ... Thanks for the response ... well about the two types of Gis .. they are actually two different things .. the MBA is totally different from the PSM as they are applied differently in different scenarios .. it's just like somthing like agric science and agric engineering but above all ,like you have rightly said , I don't need to mention that . thanks once again .. I really appreciate

If you're a true follow of this thread you would know that you don't have any standardized tests. It seems like someone got the admission for you. For grad students, a standardized test is GRE/GMAT and for undergrads, it's SAT. Your TOEFL is only a language proficiency test..... simply a language test and don't qualify as a standardized test. When asked next time, just say you don't have it or they didn't required it for admission. But but, that can still lead to denial. So the best is to take a standardized test.
. hmm I agree with u

I am not sure what you mean by A-

I am not a fan of all these small private university. They seem quite popular on these thread. They are usually expensive and tend to waive test scores. Guess it all about the money.

Did you get funding if not a bigger public college will give you same degree but with less tuition . Especially with your good Gpa , you should have taken test GRE and aim for funding from a much better school

It's a legitimate university, but "Grade-A" seems like a big stretch.

My case be different kinda sha hehe. Im 28. Finished my bsc in local government administration in 2015. Finished nysc in july. But as per i never really liked that course, i want to go start another degree in fineart which is the love of my life hehe (im actually a fulltime SELFTAUGHT artist, you can check out my page on insta @scaezar) so i legit wanna go to school, not run away.
Long story short, i applied to troy and msu. Troy gave me admission already without toefl but im writing toefl anyways on dec.9... I20 will be here on dec1.
My question now is.. Is my case not too errmmm..controversial?

Any advice/question is appreciated

Broda at 28..hmmm me sef na 25 my heart just dy cut but get i get backup shaaa for the second degree...the truth is that 70% of our Nigeria undergraduates are doing courses which they are not interested in but due to some peer or family pressure or most times because their desired course is not given to them ,they end up doing one course or the other just to be a graduate. but since we have the opportunity to correct this. We are not going to let it slip off our fingers .

Age is only a number. The problem is you'll have to convince a VO that you are legitimate. Do the best you can.

They could be reading this question you know. Let's be careful of what we ask here. Kindly read up previous transcripts
They go about asking stupid questions that can implicate everybody. Instead of him to send someone a pm for clarifications.

Hello gurus

Please I need advice, i applied to two schools for spring 2018, one school gave me an offer over a month ago, i tried waiting for the other school as it is my preferred option but they delayed in making a decision. Since appointment availability were running out, I paid sevis fee with the first school i-20, filled DS-160 with it and booked an appointment(In December) with the details of the first school. My issue now is I just got an offer from my preferred school some days ago. I need advice on what to do to still attend the school with the new offer. Thank you

I think depending on how close your interview date is. You can transfer your sevis to the new school. And update your ds160 to the new school. That Is if you get your i20 for the new school early enough.

this system here, where everybody here applies to tier C and D schools en masse is just terrible. I go to college confidential and thegradcafe and see Indians and Pakistanis with less stats getting into superb publics schools fully funded.

You're speaking my mind. Top profiles I see with schools far below what they can attain. People please do better. It has bearing on the kind of companies that recruit later on. Go to the best school you can. Your future will thank you.

Good morning people,
I have been a silent follower on this thread, my profile goes thus. On May17th 2017 I went for my first interview and I was denied the reason the VO gave then was my school Park University Missouri is a "very small school". I got admitted for spring 2018 into Bowie State University, Maryland and I have gotten two denials again. I am really confused as to whether to give up on this dream. My last transcripts goes thus

VO~ why are you going to USA?
Me~ I'm going for my Masters degree in public administration at Bowie State University Maryland.
VO~ why Bowie state University?
Me~ The scope of the corriculum at Bowie state university is deep, courses like public budgeting, public personnel management and human resource Managment will expressly address the problem of lack of expertise in the Nigerian civil service.
VO~ Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me~No, I have never had any reason to leave my country.
VO~Do you have any international degree?
No, I don't.
VO~Did you write any standardized test?
Me- I wrote TOEFL on September 23 2016 and I handed the result over to her wished she viewed and after that stated I'm ineligible.

Please I will really appreciate, advises on whether to pay another application fee and fire back since school resumes January 22nd.
God bless.
please if you have the means give it another shot.... look for someone here who can vet your transcript....... quitters never wins!!!!!!

True....

when i first joined last year and started reading transcripts i was surprised to see so many schools i never aim for but then again when you see low TOEFL., lack of GRE Writing or low gpa then that explain it

I would be interesting to see these less stats with funding .
