That was how my partner was being pressured to make sure I join Catholic n Wed there after we agreed to be Pentecostal before n after d wedding when I couldn't stand it anymore I walked away n I'm grateful to God I did......my advise for your friend is to marry her if he can't get to love someone else easily again or let her go cos they will fight her even spiritually n can even cause her death or barreness in my own case I slugged it out spiritually n they threatened to kill their own if they can't kill me n because I don't suc h to happen I walked away. |

Though I didn't absolutely support the parents' decision,I will still advise your friend to carefully discover the reason his parent detest the girl. Our parents are very mature physically and spiritually. They may be seeing what we can't discern in the next 30years.After all, God even said we shouldn't toy with their advice.Your friend should be prayerful, marriage has a lot to impact on his life.May God prevent us from the evil of a painful home. #Dont mind my advice though,m just an ordinary bachelor#just that a word is enough for the wise# 1 Like 1 Share |

The guy's mum holds the ace here. I doubt the Edo father who married an Igbo woman can really wholeheartedly object. I guess his wife claims to know her fellow Igbo better. Fact is no tribe or state has only bad women or good women. It is a mixed bag everywhere. 4 Likes |

How sure are we his parents refuse because she is from Anambra and she attends Pentecostal church. He should sit with his parents and find out why and my take is he should listen them. Ur parents are ur first caretakers(guides) 1 Like |

If you can talk them into it, good. If not, get a woman your parent want, love is everywhere. |

Marrying into families that don't want you is too much work. The girl will spend years if not forever trying too hard to gain their approval. It will drain her, take a toll on your relationship too. Even if you go ahead and marry her against their will, she will never be able to pay you back as you will expect. There is bound to be days where you will ask yourself 'look at the woman I disobeyed my own parents for!' My two cents, make your parents see what you see in her. And if they still insist no, oh well ... I don't know. It's your decision, you and madam need to sit down and be very realistic of what the future holds. Also what manner of man at this age will take a good woman home to his parents and they tell him he doesn't know what he is doing? Mostly when a man is a bit slow, his loved ones will want to help him make his life decisions, believing he is retarded in that manner. Good luck to your friend. 7 Likes |

Jochabed:If the guys father, an Edo man can actually marry his mother, an Abia woman, then this is certainly not about tribe. There's something else they aren't comfortable with about the lady which they aren't saying; I doubt it really got anything to do with her state cos that doesnt add up. 2 Likes |

MicheyJ1:People still believes in this myths in 2017 and almost to 2018? A successful marriage doesn't lies on parents blessings, there are people that have no parents to bless them and their marriage is very ok and there are vice versa. The only wrong thing about fighting your parents is, it doesn't worth it fighting your parents. 4 Likes |

African parents are too overbearing! I remember when I first rented an apartment, my mum threatened fire and brimstone. She said I have rented a flat for girls. I just ignored her and the rest is history. It is good to be a man at times. A Mother should advice her son and not threaten him. 1 Like |

If you say this, what can be said about marriages that both parents blessed and crashed eventually. Life is just a two way street no one can predict, just do what you believe in and what is right. MicheyJ1: 2 Likes |

I have heard a family and also a girl from Ekiti that said "she can not a marry Ijebu person". I heard a girl from Imo state who told me "I can not marry Abakaliki man"...Jehovah witness member once said,"I can't marry outside my congregation".I know of a Yoruba lady that the parents warned never to marry from Calabar... Hhhmm... What is love? ....Love is not a feeling... It is a call to service.... Just like we have millions that say "I can't do this"...we also have millions that will say "this is what I want to do". 3 Likes |

Yeah right, your friend indeed. We know who the real person is By the way, if it were me, I would marshal all my resources and skills to convince my parents to agree. If I have to listen to them, they better give me a good reason not to marry her, not telling me different tribe, blah blah blah. Abi dem dey fear say him fit no survive the "List" It is good to at least consider your parents opinions because you may not be in your clear senses. May have been blinded by love 1 Like |

thesicilian:Hmmm. So at this age and time, you are still referring to that old adage? So what you are saying is that everyone other than people from Anambra state are saints? Most miserable marriages nowadays are simple because kids try to please their parents, forgetting that they have their lives ahead of them. At the end everyone blames the devil for all the problem 1 Like |
