TheSuperNerd:
@Bolded... I should be glad that in a thread I call "family" on NL and rolled with for two years +, my mother was grossly insulted (and not like I cannot insult back but I won't stoop so low... I just won't. Moms are God's Gift to humanity) and not even a single of the so called elders or old thread associates thought it wise to call out such nonsense and shut it down (except for one who later did anyway, a lady for that matter. Where were the guys?).

But whenever I started to throw my own very annoying and teasing jabs at people who always wanna gain cheap attention by attacking TheSupernerd in all manners of ways both subtle and apparent, that is when the thread remembers to call just me to order. How beautifully "honorable". Believe me, I got sick of the nonsense Hypocrisy so I had to leave. And this thread was always in my heart from the beginning of the year but just never knew how I was gonna tell you all but somehow, that one action I witnessed on that thread made it so easy to decide. smiley

I have elucidated in full about this matter many pages back on this thread and wish not to dwell on this subject again Sir Tbaba1234. People will always believe just what they wanna believe anyway. A thread I called family turned their back on an insult never before given in our midst.... An insult on a member's mother. Like I said many pages ago, It was not even the insult that triggered this. It was simply the silence of the thread on the insult to one's mom. A line which no one has dared to cross.

@second bolded... I don't have issues with "everyone" on this subject. My issue is with "The Thread's" silent behavior towards vain nonsense. Everyone knows how I love to make that thread exciting and more inviting. I even played a hand in waking up "The silent crew" prior to Nigeria's game against Cameroun in Yaoundé.
They that do not belong to the "thread's subtle hypocrisy" comment of mine know themselves. But they that belong also know themselves. smiley Problem is each member cannot and will not speak up because all wanna remain neutral on the issue. It us understandable. So when I say "subtle hypocrisy", it is for those who have the receptors for that comment. For those who do not have, they have nothing to worry about. So I stand by my comment, in that one day of happenings, Subtle hypocrisy was detected and I didn't like the scent of it one bit.

And about uniqueness.... Maybe you know what you are looking for, but I know what I want this little project to look like from many facets/angles. I am not online all day sometimes but I do the best I can because I love the beautiful game as regards Nigerian football and her players, and background stories which form chains that would merge into a mega chain of events triggering another great rise of a golden era. It is only 29 pages old. Still a neonate to me. So I am happy with the constant and rising constant updates of whoscored stats, squawka analyses, news of relevance to Nigerian football and more. I am just one person and this is my only moniker on NL. This thread was borne out of passion and passion will make it grow.

And thanks. Wish you all the best yourself Sir Tbaba and like I told you before, when I do pop up ("again"wink in Baltimore, MD, I don't know Sir.... It is gonna be strictly business as usual. May never find the time within my short scheduled stay to make "house calls". But I appreciate the invitation. So thanks.

I. You do realise that not everyone reads every comment especially when a subject becomes dragged out. I for one did not even read the argument and i still haven't. I saw the post where you were pretty harsh and unfair to safarigirl.

Ii. Two of you are adults. Others might have decided to let the argument die out like it usually does. Getting involved in a shouting match can easily get you stained.

I appreciate your passion. I think it is a great thing.

However, there are two sides to this. I did not talk to you at the time because it was still raw.

I understand that you did throw jabs at the man too but he hit below the belt. Not everyone plays fair in matters like this. Online makes it easier for people to say things that they would not say face to face. In a few years, you will find out that online statements should not get you worked up or guide your choices.

Have you taken out time to reflect on your role in the whole thing?

Everyone is busy, man. The connections you build today could be vital tomorrow.

Safe.

I. You read just "one post" and you feel that gives you enough leverage to address this matter? Like seriously? Being pretty harsh and unfair to Safarigirl. That is your tinted interpretation. Me, I was just being brutally honest. If you had read from the beginning of the fracas, you will understand lots of things better. Judging from one post is lame and not cogent enough.

II. Getting involved? Who asked anyone to "get involved"? When I "got involved" when someone tried to bring in Safarigirl's mother into a discussion light years ago, that was me stepping in to avert what could have been an attempt to probably say rubbish about her mom and I didn't get stained in that. Silence is never wisdom and the right step when it has to do with witnessing utter profanity meted out to someone's mother and keeping mute about it especially in a thread that prides itself on being called "A Family". I guess I was just wrong about the family tag afterall.

Stepping in to halt and condemn insults at someone's mom is not " getting involved" or "taking sides". It is stepping in to avoid scum behavior on a thread that preaches family values when we gather but ofcos most supported that nonsense judging by the number of likes such disdainful post got. Most who know themselves. Some even chose not to address it but take another angle saying silly stuffs like, you cannot yell where someone may hit you... like I cannot hit back? lol (I just chose the way of honorables. I will never ever take that silly route).

And yeah... who says I didn't throw jabs? wink I described my jabs in my last post as very annoying and extremely teasing. cheesy I know how to throw jabs too. Call it self defence. Fact remains that I brought in my "Lobotomised Dollophead comments" when my comments were being trolled in childhish manners by same person and my intellect and personality being insulted but ofcos because you didn't read from the beginning, you were always bound to miss that. I was called out in a rude manner first with insults to my intellect by same person.
I just did not start throwing jabs. Something was said to me first and I replied and ouucchh... it hit the Buddy in the skin. I prefer when people keep the insults levelled at just me. I can take it all... but when you bring in My Mother. Then you have crossed the line and worse it when no one of the "Family" sect in the thread calls that out. It was utterly disappointing. So this is not about getting involved. It is about awkward Silence in the face of Dangerous profanity never seen before on the thread and past threads.
And when silence and "no call out" is what I see in a mother being insulted on a thread called "Family" but I get called out for jabs... lol... Then only one word comes to mind... "HYPOCRISY".

I have thought and reflected many times on this Sir Tbaba and I came to the conclusion that it is no use being in a group of people that don't even understand what family is, yet that word, " Family" kept flying around the thread like air. We prided ourselves as a family but didn't act it out well. #Fact.

And yes... I agree. Everyone is indeed busy. But I also know that not everyone is "as busy." We are not all cut out from the same origins. Not everyone is heading down the path of skyscrapers. Some are heading down the path of Bungalows and Duplexes. WE ARE NOT ALL AS BUSY SIR. smiley And about connections, I smile when you tell me what I tell others. I understand the power and significance of connections and networking with people. In the real world, I have them and value them. Online, I have been blessed with the privilege to connect with minds and have it sustained but if you think I will be bothered about connections with a majority who don't understand the meaning of family and friendship. Connections with folks who love the sound of Supernerd's mother being insulted and even keep mute about it. Connections with people afraid to speak the truth because they wanna avoid being seen as one-sided. Then Sir, I don't give a damn about connections to such. Believe me, I will gladly Pass. I know my path and my destiny.

This right here on NL was just a step away from the cloud of negativity and subtle hypocrisy I sensed and picked up in the majority. I don't seek Empathy, sorry party or a crowd here. I seek truth and people not afraid to speak out when something is so damn wrong. People who understand the beginning of something and tackle it holistically, not in isolation.

Peace Sir Tbaba1234. I will really appreciate if this be the end of this issue's flashback. I left it a long way behind me. Thank you and have a lovely day.

NIGERIA TO FACE ARGENTINA IN NOVEMBER FRIENDLY
By Shina Oludare

As part of the Super Eagles’ preparations for World Cup 2018, Gernot Rohr’s men will renew acquaintances with La Albiceleste in Russia

Nigeria will face Argentina in a friendly at Krasnodar Stadium on Tuesday, November 14.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday confirmed the fixture, which will mark the first meeting between the two sides since Argentina’s 3-2 win at Estádio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre on June 25, 2014.

Ahmed Musa grabbed Super Eagles goals as Stephen Keshi’s side bowed in the Fifa World Cup encounter.

NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi said: “We have had long and fruitful talks, and we can say that we have an agreement.

“We await the approval by FIFA and also, we have to agree on the flight arrangements that would be comfortable for the players and crew.

“The match will come up on 14th November, four days after the Super Eagles’ final 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying match away to Algeria.

“We had offers from teams like Iran, Saudi Arabia and Morocco but we have opted for the Argentines.”

Juventus And Atletico Madrid Fighting For N7.1 Billion-Rated Super Eagles Star

Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru is generating transfer interest from top European clubs Juventus and Atletico Madrid, as per reports.
The Daily Mail is reporting that there is a possibility that Everton will sell the striker without him playing an official game for the club he joined in the summer transfer window, although it appears he is not eligible to be granted a work permit in England.

Onyekuru may be searching for his first goal in a European club competition after three games, but has been in the headlines for his performance against PSG on Wednesday and his brilliant start to his career at Anderlecht.

It cost Everton seven million pounds to acquire the Nigerian from Eupen and any club interested in signing him when the window opens will have to pay in the region of £15million (approximately N7.1 billion) for his services.

Atletico Madrid are scouring the market for a long-term replacement for Fernando Torres and Onyekuru is on their agenda.
The 20-year-old has more than four years left on his contract with Everton.

Rohr shuts out NPFL stars from World Cup qualifier in Algeria, Argentina friendly
By ScoreNigeria admin

Players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) save for goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye will not be involved when the Super Eagles take on Algeria and Argentina next month, SCORENigeria has scooped.

Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has again shut out the NPFL stars because the domestic league season is over and a kick-off date for the new season will only be after the World Cup qualifier in Algeria on November 10 and the friendly against Argentina four days.

A top source told SCORENigeria: “Rohr is expected to name a big squad for the two matches against Algeria and Argentina, but except for the goalkeepers Ezenwa and Ajiboye, no player from the NPFL will feature.

“He cannot guarantee their match fitness as they are not in competition.

“He has been consistent on this.”

For this month’s decisive World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo, the two outfield players from the NPFL who trained with the Eagles squad were Akwa United midfielders Afeez Aremu and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi.

Previously the likes of Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazzam’, Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun from the NPFL have been considered for the Eagles main squad.

‘Muazzam’ and Odey are now plying their trade in Europe.
Rohr has maintained that the NPFL stars should gradually come through the home-based Eagles, while also saying the country’s best players are overseas.

Chelsea-Linked Nigerian Starlet Kelechi Rejects Offer From Maccabi Haifa

American-born Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Onyewuenyi has turned down a move to Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Haifa, according to information gathered by
allnigeriasoccer.com .

Having been linked with a transfer to Chelsea, Norwegian and Swedish clubs, Maccabi Haifa appeared to be the player's destination after he was invited to trial with the Greens.

Maccabi Haifa coaches were highly impressed with the performance of Kelechi during trials which lasted for two weeks, and the club had offered him a four-year contract until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

The club had an option to release him from the agreement at the end of each season by written notice no later than May 1 of each year.

But the midfielder and his camp turned down the proposal from Maccabi Haifa, insisting that the duration of the deal has to be a maximum of two years.

Kelechi's developmental contract with Houston Dynamo expired when he turned 18, and he is currently a free agent.

Exclusive – Portuguese Club Snap Up Captain Of 2016 U17 & Three Other Nigerian Teens

Portuguese third division side Vizela has concluded the transfer of four highly rated Nigerian teens including Abduljabbar Sani who captained the Nigeria U17 team of 2016.

Highly rated right full back Isah Musa, and two other namely Emmanuel Kuku and Zakari Yaro both forwards were also snapped up by the team, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Already the quartet have resumed training with the Portuguese side who are currently top of the Campeonato de Portugal, Group A table with 14 points after six games.

The club will be hoping the quartet help boost their chances of gaining promotion to the second division next season owing to their fine start to the season as they are yet to lose a game this current season.

” Vizela is a very ambitious club, so we took them there to help them get use to European football as well as the demands, all of them are yet to play any level of football so Vizela is a very good start for them”, Babawo Mohammed the agent of the quartet told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” They were among the boys picked from our last scouting tournament in Keffi, Nasarawa State. So we hope they progress as expected at Vizela. They have the talent to succeed no doubt”, he concluded.

Wow! been a super busy week I must say. smiley Still got more intense busy sessions ahead but mehn, so much have happened in the past week....

Kayode was MOTM for Girona and got an assist. Nacho scored his first official Leicester goal and also got an assist to bevrated highest in the game. I say expect more from that young man. He has received many unfair backlashes and yet was only making his first start and appearance in the Carabao cup and fourth start overall for his new side.

Awaziem also doing great at Nantes. He scored also. Lol.

Ndidi, Nacho and Musa now got Claude puel at Leicester. Hope it turns our good for our men.

So many stuffs happened. More players like Deji-Ousman popping up in recent weeks also. Says he wanna turn out for us. How nice. And he is a LB. ouuucch.. hope he comes good. Can't be here bumper to bumper but will always do my best because a new generation of Star Nigerian footballers rises and her Emergence as a super force beckons strong that will usher this team, The Super Eagles, into another Glorious Golden Era.

It is well wink

Agent Confesses- Eagles Coach Rohr Turned Down Big Money To Invite My Player

The appointment of Gernot Rohr has made it almost impossible for player agents to buy their way into the senior national team of Nigeria according to a player agent who spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com.
Since the coming of Rohr over a year ago, a lot has changed in the fortunes of the Super Eagles on the pitch, but more significant is the progress made outside the pitch.

” A lot has changed especially for us who are player agents, I don’t know about others but I use to have six players in the Super Eagles, some I paid for them to be called up, while some were there on merit”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I must confess I have not given money directly to any coach before, but there are guys who do the leg work and get the job done but with Rohr nobody wants to take such risk. His body language is enough to discourage you.

“Presently I have one player in the team and he isn’t doing badly at all, which is why he is still in the team, at a time I have a player who is now playing in a league not befitting for his standard.

” I tried using the Super Eagles to increase his market value but despite my big money offer, I was told in clear terms that Rohr works with his scouts who are mostly unknown. He will collect the player’s name and ask them to monitor”, he concluded.

Super Eagles' next games: Nov.10 vs Algeria and Nov.14 vs Argentina

How will Nigeria approach the next international break?
By Dami Ugbane, KweséESPN

The upcoming international break will see Nigeria facing Algeria and Argentina in a World Cup qualifying dead rubber and friendly fixture respectively, offering Gernot Rohr and his team the opportunity to assess some of the squad's fringe players.

With opportunities between November and the global showpiece in Russia limited to just one international break - in March 2018 - Rohr will be under no illusion as to the value of the Super Eagles' upcoming fixtures.

Don't be surprised to see the German coach invite a bloated squad of 30 players for the upcoming fixtures as he looks to give some of the team's lesser lights the opportunity to impress him.

The prospect of Nigeria fielding a 'B Team' away in Algeria cannot be ruled out, with Rohr perhaps preferring to use his key men in the prestige fixture against Argentina in Krasnodar four days later.
It remains to be seen whether he will also risk a trio of key players - Victor Moses, Leon Balogun and Elderson Echiejile - should they recover from their current injury concerns, although expect Rohr to assess his alternatives for all three - particularly the injury-prone Balogun. The issue of a reliable and trusted goalkeeper still remains unresolved with the World Cup fast approaching.

Vincent Enyeama, back in training after a lengthy injury layoff, is not yet a valid option as he hasn't publicly stated his intention to come out of international retirement, and may not be considered for the upcoming fixtures.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa will have been inactive since the end of the Nigerian Professional Football League season in September, raising a concern here, perhaps opening the door for the new kid on the block - Deportivo La Coruna wonderkid Francis Uzoho.

The upcoming fixtures may be an ideal opportunity for Rohr to hand the wonderkid his international debut and assess his undisputed qualities.
Henry Onyekuru has been impressive for Anderlecht since his season-long loan switch from Everton in the summer and will surely relish the opportunity to prove to Rohr that he belongs in the squad ahead of, for example, Ahmed Musa or Moses Simon.
Expect the former KAS Eupen man to lead a young contingent of players including Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem and Oghenekaro Etebo
Experienced heads may include the aforementioned Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and John Ogu, all of whom are battling for their place in Russia after featuring only sporadically during Rohr's recent tenure.
All three will not only be looking to convince the coach of their worth for the travelling party to Russia, but also demonstrate that they deserve consideration as potential starters for the global showpiece.

Certainly, it's not stretching fact to suggest that any new faces who aren't included for the upcoming international break and any 'stalwarts' who fail to impress may begin to be considered outsiders for a place on the plane for next summer's fiesta.

Arsenal's Okoflex Scores Again, Outshines Dembele As Ireland Retain Victory Shield

Republic of Ireland U16 National Team retained the prestigious Victory Shield following a 2-0 win over Scotland in their final group match on Friday, October 27.

Goals from Dublin-born Arsenal striker of Nigerian descent Armstrong Okoflex and Matt Everitt secured a win for the Irish at Clandeboye Park.

The 15-year-old returned to the starting line-up, having come off the bench against Wales, while Manchester United starlet Mipo Odubeko was named on the bench.
Republic of Ireland led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of Everitt's effort, before Okoflex doubled their advantage in the second half.

With two goals each, the two scorers today finished as the joint top goalscorers for Paul Osam's side in the tournament staged in Northern Ireland.

Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele started for Scotland U16s against Republic of Ireland.

On page O of this Special thread focused on Nigeria's Super Eagles New Golden Generation rise, I did mention that 2013 marked the True beginning of Nigeria's Next Super Story in football. Everything else revolves around that 2013 period and it is bound to manifest greater greatness than the first Golden Era in the end if managed beautifully in the long run.... This is what this thread is all about. Hence this name, The Super Eagles+ It goes a little beyond just news reporting but trying to bring home specific details and focus on a rising group of players that will make This New Golden Generation possible but ofcos, it will keep throwing up more names as long they are young and are prospects themselves for the national team. I won't always be available here, Time and work won't permit that, but I will always do my best to keep the Dream of seeing This New Football Story being acted out in Nigerian Soccer manifested in bigger ways. Since I walked into NL sports in 2015, I foretold the steady rise of another possible Super Golden Generation and I am confident it will happen. All it takes is time and Time shall reveal it all

Manu Garba Magic – Uzoho, Nwakali Makes It Nine Players From 2013 U17 In Eagles

The all conquering Nigeria U17 team of 2013 is on the verge of becoming the most successful Nigerian youth team in history judging by the number of players who have progressed to the senior national team.

Four years from when they won the U17 World Youth Championship, nine of the players from the team have progressed to the senior national team of Nigeria, a number which could potentially swell in the coming future.

Led by coach Manu Garba, the team won the U-17 World Youth Championship in the UAE, but FIFA has continually reminded nations that the essence of the tournament is primarily to develop players, and not about lifting the trophy.

So far the 2013 U17 team are fufilling the primary aim of the tournament, as the recent invitation of Deportivo La Coruna 18 year old goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho and on loan

Manchester City midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali brings to nine, the number of players who have progressed to the Super Eagles.

Known for his hardwork, honesty and quiteness, Manu can also boast of more players from his 2013 team in the Super Eagles, with the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool to Mouscron of Belgium, and Musa Yahaya at FC Porto knocking on the doors of the first team of their respective teams.

The Super Eagles list for the Algeria and Argentina games boasts only three key first team absentees.

- Carl Ikeme (still out due to leukaemia and still on a treatment regimen. Remains the team's first choice goalie even though he has been out for a long while and is gonna be out for while more till further notice)

- Victor Moses (hamstring)

- Elderson Echiejile (I think Knee injury)

We got Odinaka Francis Uzoho getting his first invite to the team and the casualty here is Dele Alampasu who despite being given the no.1 shirt at CD Feirense has not played a game for them so far this season. He remains in the plans of the Super Eagles technical crew is highly rated by the crew but his inactivity at Club level makes the fast rising Uzoho edge him for now. Uzoho has two LA liga games under his belt so far and boasts a clean sheet marked on his debut as the league's youngest Foreign Goalie to debut in LA liga.

Henry Onyekuru makes his deserved return to the Super Eagles Fold and with a stats of 6 goals in 12 Belgian Jupiler League games plus 1 goal in the Belgian cup and three appearances so far in the UCL backed up by fine performances, I don't think anyone has any cause to complain about his return. wink Expected to try fill in for Victor Moses but competition is still fierce with Iwobi, Moses Simon and Musa Ahmed also in the picture.

Tyrone Ebuehi gets "promoted" wink from the standby list from last time out to the main list this time around. He has been churning out some decent performances as ADO Den Haag's first choice RB in the Dutch Eredivisie having featured in 10 league games logging 855mins and also featured once in the cup. A chance for the 21 year old Tyronne to show that he offers quality cover for our fullback positiions like Olaoluwa Aina of Hull City.

Brian Idowu, I hope we get this guy's passport issues sorted out. With Ola Aina, Tyrone Ebuehi, Echiejile, Shehu and now Brian Idowu, I think we have enough quality and cover going forward in our fullback positions for the long run. I still hope we can Torunarigha though, but that may no longer be an urgent issue for now due to the possibility of Idowu's passport close to being sorted and also the rise of Tyrone and The continuous Rise of Ola Aina as English Championship's undisputed best fullback (all-round, left and right).
Brian has featured in 13 Russian Topflight games and two cup games with a goal to his name so far coming in one of the cup games. For a versatile defender measuring 1.79m in height he has featured 6 times at CB, 6 times at LM, 2 times at RB, and 2 times as LB so far in all comps. in Russia.
A good choice on the standby list but hopefully gets his passport issues sorted for good so that he can be part of the main team going forward. Our fullback woes will surely become a thing of the past soon enough with the Potential world class quality in Ola Aina, The great form of Shehu, Tyronne's consistent rise, and now Brian's experienced versatility from the land of Putin coming through with time. Welcome in advance Brian Idowu. smiley

Chidiebere Nwakali's invite will most certainly come as a shocker to many and looolll... *whispers* Without doing any prior checks, I already know of a few people on NL sports who won't take this invitation nicely at all and honestly they got a case wink (Note, I am just assuming but I am sure his invite will cause a ruckus on NL sports) but again, Chidi Nwakali was always gonna get his chance. I recall dropping a new article weeks ago on the coaching crew considering inviting Chidi Nwakali who for me is like an Upgrade on Abdullahi Shehu and an option in our midfield engine dept.
Both Shehu and C. Nwakali share similar features as footballers. Both are super versatile (super to emphasise that they both excel in their three major versatile roles) and they both feature majorly as DMF, CMF and RB. Shehu is of the 2013 U-20 class (under John Obuh) but Chidi Nwakali is of the Glorious 2013 U-17 Class (under Garba Manu).

In the Norwegian Eliteserian League, Chidi Nwakali has featured 24 times majorly as a DMF and sometimes as CM and LM and put up solid performances on an all-round level. I even dropped some of his who scored stats for some games this season on this thread pages back. He is quality but I understand that considering other options in "stronger leagues" like Ajagun, and even Esiti well, ruckus go happen shaa but I feel Rohr picked this kid based on the precise roles he wants him to execute in the team as a good backup option on a keenly versatile level. Chidi Nwakali offers speed, intensity, boundless energy, and intelligence as an all-round player. You cannot deny the quality the kid oozes even in Norway at Sogndal and yes, I have watched him play a few times.
He has four goals in 26 games all season majorly from his deep midfield roles (3 goals in the league and 1 in 2 apps in the cup) and was even named captain in their October 15 fixture against Ifeanyi Matthew's Lillestroem in the League. I think the lad will become a force in the Eagles with time same way Onazi got invited by Keshi as a rookie and grew rapidly to become one of the Super Eagles Key midfield powerhouses today. C. Nwakali offers beautiful versatility and I think he will justify his call-up soon enough.

My take on how we should line up against Algeria and Argentina will come a little later. Hopefully before each match days as I am really super engaged. It is well folks. Nigerian Football marches on. #SoarSuperEagles

Eagles begin World Cup audition, who will be new boys to stand up to be counted?
By Samm Audu

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their countdown to next year’s World Cup in Russia in earnest when they face Algeria in an inconsequential qualifier, before they take on fellow World Cup finalists Argentina four days.

Several players who have been on the wings will now have a chance to stake a claim for places at Russia 2018 so as to add depth to the squad.

Young goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, Tyronne Ebuehi, Uche Agbo, Ola Aina, John Ogu, Chidiebere Nwakali, Henry Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme will be expected to get their chance in these two games.

How well they take their chances will certainly go a long way to determine if they will make the final 23-man squad flying off to Russia in June.
Nigeria are shopping for goalkeepers for the global finals following the long-term illness of Carl Ikeme and that explains why youngster.

At only 19 (recently turned 19), this graduate of the famous Aspire Academy in Qatar is something of a late bloomer as he was third in the pecking order behind No 1 Dele Alampasu at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

The man-mountain shot stopper has already featured in a handful of games for his Spanish top-flight club this season.
In the past, Peter Rufai, who incidentally also played for Deportivo La Coruna, Alloy Agu, Ike Shorunmu and Wilfred Agbonavbare plied their trade in Europe.

Uzoho is now extending this tradition and the exciting thing is that he has started a lot earlier than his predecessors and doing so in a country who pride themselves with world-class goalkeepers, from David De Gea to Iker Casilas.
But despite the promise he has shown, this youngster will be one for the future.

The fullback positions have been something of a problem for some time now and so Tyronne Ebuehi and Ola Aina could prove to be worthwhile options.
Ebuehi is technically gifted even if some doubt his physicality, while Ola Aina’s versatility, which allows him to play in both fullback positions as well as in central defence, could give him the edge among the new boys now knocking hard on the door.

In the middle, Uche Agbo, John Ogu and Chidiebere Nwakali will be pushing to displace Ogenyi Onazi and Wilfred Ndidi who are now first choices.

The Eagles engine-room is in dire need of a lot more creativity and the older Nwakali as well as Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazzam’ , who is on the Eagles standby list and has already held his own in the Austrian Bundesliga, could provide this.

Fit-today-crocked-tomorrow Joel Obi of Torino will also be a serious option.

In the highly competitive attack, Anthony Nwakaeme and Onyekuru have proved their class in Europe to be considered for the Eagles.

Onyekuru has made remarkable progress since he burst on to the scene last season with modest Belgian club KAS Eupen so much so that he is no longer seen as a one-season wonder.
He plays on the left side of attack, where the star of the Eagles Victor Moses holds sway.

Onyekuru is a lot more prolific than Victor Moses, who is a lot more experienced and with the form he is on now, it will need something extra special for the Chelsea star to play second fiddle to any Nigerian forward.

Nwakaeme will be a good option at centre-forward, where Odion Ighalo has now installed himself after solid showings against Cameroon in the much-publicised World Cup double-header in September.
Both strikers have a physical presence upfront with Israel-based Nwakaeme also having the guile to outwit his marker when brute force has failed.

Should the new boys grab their chance, 64-year-old Gernot Rohr will age a lot faster as he tries to come up with the chosen 23 for Russia 2018.

Ex-Golden Eaglets Teammate: Uzoho Was Not Up To Scratch, We Always Encouraged Him

Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star Akinjide Idowu is delighted with the progress of Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who has been called up for the upcoming matches against Algeria and Argentina.
Whilst Idowu was a key member of the Nigeria U17s squad at the 2013 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates having featured in six matches, Uzoho just made up the numbers as he didn't play a single game.

''Uzoho is a very young talented goalkeeper. Off the pitch, he's very jovial, simply and a nice person,'' said Akinjide Idowu to
allnigeriasoccer.com .

''Back then I saw no atom of discrimination in him, he mingles with everyone in the camp, I'll say he has a very good temperament.''

Idowu added : ''Honestly speaking he wasn't too good those days back in the U-17 but the goalkeeper coach Amadi and we the boys always encourage and motivate him telling him he's a champion and he's the best.

''He received positive words that will keep and help him to be strong psychologically. And when I watched him recently I saw a tremendous change, I mean improvement beyond my expectations.''

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City) and Chidiebere Nwakali (Manchester City), who were named to Nigeria's latest roster, were important members of the Golden Eaglets squad four years ago in UAE.

Nigerian Wonderkid Okafor Scores, Provides Two Assists As Basel Thrash CSKA In UYL

Swiss club FC Basel put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify for the UEFA Youth League playoffs after a 4-2 thrashing of Russia team CSKA Moscow, with Swiss-born Nigerian midfielder Noah Okafor grabbing the headlines again.

The match day four fixture was staged at Leichtathletik-Stadion St. Jakob (Basel) on Tuesday evening.
Noah Okafor broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute before providing the assist for Basel's second goal scored by Schmid a minute later.
Although Basel controlled the game, the Russians managed to reduce the arrears through Oleynikov's deflected shot in the 73rd minute.

Pululu scored to restore the two-goal cushion in the 83rd minute, before Nicolas Suter increased the lead to 4-1 after he was fed by Noah Okafor, then Zhironkin netted for the visitors on 87 minutes.

FC Basel, who face Manchester United after the international break, are second in Group A with seven points.
Okafor has been involved in all the matches played by Basel in the UEFA Youth League this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

A tree can not make a forest but the boy has the tenacity of a vicious weed plant. Watch him take this thread to page 100 plus in a few days all by himself.

This is passion. His input here is enough to produce a thousand dissertations.

When I stumbled on this thread, I thought it was weird. It was almost like Man United playing at Old Trafford without a single spectator. Imagine United playing 45 mins of footie, record it and then sit on the spectators stand to watch the action on the big screen !

Funny innit?? Don’t give up Nerd, there are people who come here to read your stuffs. Keep digging up dem news.

Thanks Sir Omanbala1. wink Actually I still have plans for this thread but I honestly do not want it to rival the one we call Home. I am back now. So I will give this thread a rest for now but will resurrect it with its own specific focus. I don't wanna create a duplicate of home. I just wanna run a little soccer encyclopedia project for Nigerian Football's rise and growth in this 21st century. wink

I appreciate the Vote of confidence Sir Gbosaa. I really really do. smiley

Great to hear all the compliments you bestowed on me. I am indeed humbled by how one who haven't even met me shows such radical belief in me and what I can do. Well, Sir, this thread will continue. I promise you that. But again, I guess I have missed home too. wink And I know your moniker. I know "Gbosaa" cheesy Only that you hardly drop comments.

Home remains home. But this thread will only act as a complimentary effort on my part. It is more like a soccer encyclopaedic project on Nigeria's next Golden generation om the rise now.

Once again, I truly appreciate your belief in me and I hope to keep being tenacious in every aspect of my living as this is what has brought me thus far in life outside social media. It is well Sir Gbosaa. Thanks for your kind words. smiley
