Whatever amendment they make on the Electoral Act would only take effect with 2023 election because timetable for 2019 had been out before their self-serving amendment. Laws cannot be made in retrospect 1 Like |

austin2all: You no get sense at all!!! Even though I hate Buhari and his nepotistic tendencies, where did you see his name in the write-up to suggest he's rigging elections? You either didn't read the write-up, or you have a serious problem with comprehension. Either way, you need help! |

Hmmm....To force The Presidency to supporting the emergence of some Senators and Reps, even Governors that they are seemingly becoming "Un-Loyal"...lol. Many know that if the President is known, the party can work against their emergence by withdrawing necessary last minutes logistics. Also, It will be suicidal for PMB to attest to this amendment, beacuse he is not really sure where this political prostitues stand. Governors, Senators, Reps can win election and afterwards, turn against the President's second term bid. Na real serious situation 2 Likes |

I support the NASS on this. That's the way to truly test a party's popularity. I wish local govt elections too can be part of the time table....let's start from local govt first... Most of the useless people in the assembly and local govt are there because of the way influence of who is @ d center. With this the president or gov will be too busy fighting for his own survival than to have time to be installing people 1 Like |

Tunbolity: The ‘retroactive’ doctrine only applies, generally, to criminal laws not civil laws. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what steps INEC will take if the amendment bill becomes law. Would they change their election timetable? Or stick with it, using the ‘retroactive’ argument? |

This is not news...which pattern have we not tried. A confused entity dwelling on its laws, changing it every step of the way to fit every new circumstance in human dynamics (that's going to be an infinity of options). Why not try changing the mindsets of the people for whom the laws are made, so that they become true to the cause? |
