Clearly it's not the money that is her problem. Items she consider priceless are in her bag. They can steal the money in her bag but let those items be intact

It's like you don't need money!

When me, I'm looking for this type of litigation, eh?

Make outlandish claims! Sue them for every last profit they haven't yet made in 2018! Call for outrageously expensive payback. Tell your lawyer to do his job sins on your next visit, go there with SARS guys and let them loose top intimidate without causing provable harm!

They'll sit up!

I have had a similar issue but with their sister company, Domino Pizza at Emperoh Estate beside Novare Mall.

I went there with my kids to get pizza. When I got to the cashpoint, I called my husband to ask what he wanted which I relayed to them. My kids wanted to pee so I took them to their toilet. By the time I returned, I started looking for my phone.

I checked my bag, pockets, toilet etc It was nowhere in sight. I told them my issue and they said it cannot be a staff. I asked to view the CCTV and they said it can only be viewed by their HQ. That I should come back later that day. I asked to talk to their manager and they said he wasn't around.

Someone mentioned that they were viewing the CCTV so I should wait. Ate the pizza, left the kids to play a bit. Went back to ask and they started another story. At this point, I lost it and started making a scene. Someone said I should check my car. Why should I when I made a call right there.

Tracked the phone via Google and it pointed to the phone being at that spot before it went offline. They told me to go and they would call me when they could view the CCTV. I left as I had a movie to catch thinking that the phone was lost forever. Only to get to my unlocked car, to see the phone there.

I checked the last call and it showed that it was to my husband 15 minutes ago which was when I was in the pizza place. Didn't bother to go back as I knew they were covering for their employee. Seems like it is their new modus operandi.

Wow! Just wow! How did they manage to place it in an unlocked car? Wow

Why would the management of an establishment accept responsibility for an item that was stolen in an 'open' area?

If you were the owner of the company would you accept readily accept responsibility without proof?

Do that and you would be inundated with spurious claims form members of the public with regards to loss of non existent items in your outlets

A reasonable company would protect every customer that transacts business with them as much as they need to. It's just common sense and the right of a consumer, except if stated otherwise.

Now the issue is not even accepting responsibility, but lies, deception, lack of empathy, outright disregard for the claims of a customer.

@OP, why did you leave without making a video ehn? Let's put the fear and respect of consumers/customers in companies like this.

Truth be told, what those guys Coldstone Creamery were trying to do was just ''playing safe'', and you should have given them reasonable time even before reporting to the police.
You started writing so well. How did you get so foolish at the end? You talk like you're a part of that outlet and the thieves there. Do you know what was inside the bag?

Just like a number of people earlier, I commend your civility in this whole matter. But, let me chip in that in Naija of NOW ( maybe tomorrow will be different), you should have raised hell there and then, disrupted business for them for the rest of that day. That bag would have surfaced. Naija only understands madness in such situations and only the maddest will win....

Because the only true way to get anyone's attention in this country is to take it to the public court.

I was only following protocol. I don't enjoy spilling my business online, but I also don't like being lied to repeatedly especially after I offered a hand of civility.

They messed up a full week for me and caused me enough emotional trauma to last the year.

I'm not looking for public sympathy; that's not what this is about.
I simply want people to know the level of nonsense we deal with in this country.

Madam,

Sorry you had to go through the emotional trauma courtesy of the disgruntled pastry joint. I have heard similar cases from friends and family about their management theft to customers.

If you have someone well connected that can be a reference to you in court which ofcourse I expect you to do, kindly sue them because at this point they would use evidence against you that there is no proof to show you were robbed in their retail outlet.

Do not say I leave this to God. Do not spare them. You must take a bold step to bring justice as they have to face the law this time. If this situation happens in the cultured environment, the organisation may be charged $1 million to pay the culprit. This is your moment young lady. Charge and let them pay you a fine of N5million. This would be a lesson to their shameful attitude

Since they have acted irresponsibly, put them in the eye of the social media. Send this narration to Instablog, LindaIkeji and Bellanaija. They will never believe what hits them.

Also get a contact to their head office. If possible their CEO's contact.

Do not back down until your case is redressed and you have been duly compensated even with a public apology. I deeply feel your pulse.

If your do not make a headway locally, since they are a franchise, contact their international office...+1 866-464-9467 (customer care line). It was what I did when I had an issue with Airfrance just this last December with a case of a missing bag. The pressure will come all the way from the top.

It's a long read but bear with me.

On Sunday the 21st of January, I was at Coldstone creamery Admiralty way Lekki with my girlfriends between 12pm and 5pm. We were the only customers seated there when we went to get ice creams. Our bags were left on the chairs we occupied. When we got back, my bag was gone.

We alerted the staff to narrate the incident and told them we saw one of their staff heading towards our sitting area while we were getting ice cream. They found said staff but he denied taking any bag. Considering where the bag was kept, you’d have to be at our table to see it.
1. First he said he came to clean our table but saw a bag and concluded the customers were still around.
2. Then he changed his story saying he never came near our table but went to clean other tables. How could he have gone to clean already
clean, unoccupied tables? No other customers were using the sitting area.
3. Afterwards he said he came to pack the cups on the table, but we didn’t have any cups on the table prior to getting our ice creams.

I inquired about the security detail I always find in their shops and was told they only stay at the door. I know that’s not true.

Then we asked to see their CCTV footage. The stories became weird at this point.
1. First the lady in charge, Kera said the cameras cover only the cash point. Odd, I was staring at one that had a clear view of the stairs and our seats.
2. When we pointed that out she said they had no access to view footages and only the head office (at Saka, VI) could do that. She claimed to have called them and was told the IT unit weren't working on Sunday. I still don't understand how that works.
3. Shortly after another female staff (didn't get her name) came to apologise for the theft and assured us the video footage was being watched beginning when we came into the establishment. We asked if we could view it too and was told it was ‘confidential’. Even banks allow customers with grievances view their CCTV footage. So we told her to start at 2pm instead of 12pm.

Again, Kera who claimed the videos could only be viewed from the HQ came back and we asked her if she found anything. She asked who’d given us that information and we pointed to her colleague, who came back to deny what she said about the viewing. The whole thing became suspicious like these people were hiding something.

We told them the police would get involved and the story would be published online. It’s increasingly impossible to trust companies these days.
Kera pleaded we give her till Monday to give feedback on the video.

By 3pm on Monday she called me to say, “I’m sorry but the camera wasn't recording anything. We found out the memory crashed.”

It took them 7hrs (between 8am and 3pm) to ascertain the memory crashed and their CCTV wasn’t recording a thing on Sunday. Are they saying we can’t even be assured of customer safety in their premises; is that how little we mean to them? I wonder if the story would be the same if someone had robbed them.

My friend even sent a message to their Instagram account, saying if a response wasn’t given we’d make this issue public, and they promised to forward the case to their customer service unit and an agent will contact me. They requested for and received my number and email address on Monday 22/01/18 night and I still haven't been contacted.

I took the case to Maroko police station on Tuesday 23/01/18 and gave a statement. The manager of Admiralty branch was issued an invitation by the DPO. Someone named Chuks confirmed receipt of the IV, yet they never showed up.

My lawyer wrote to their head office on Wednesday detailing the issue, actions taken and further steps we’ll take. Still, we received no feedback from them. I've been informed they were advised not to comment on the matter at the branch. Classic.

Everything so far feels like an elaborate cover up by a company with something to hide. All we asked for was a view of their cctv footage to see what really happened. All we’ve got so far are suspicious stories. It's so disheartening that they have handled this case like it's nothing. I have valuable items I consider priceless in that tote bag and Coldstone Creamery (Eat N’ Go ltd) is behaving like it’s a non-issue. What’s stopping me from suspecting this might be a regular occurrence where customers mysteriously lose items and the company hides behind a liability clause?

It's been a very frustrating week, and still I've been the only thing holding back my friends from spilling this story online before now because I wanted a clean resolution. I've been very civil; going through the appropriate channels to get this resolved but the company has proven it prefers to play dirty by feeding us lies and frustrating our efforts. Perhaps I’ll learn to be more dramatic and cause a scene in the future.

Getting this kind of treatment from a favourite brand is extremely disappointing. You can do better than this.

Between 12pm-5 pm??! R u people that jobless

Sometimes, if not all of the times, I wonder why SOME Nigerians commenting on the social media lack empathy and are really insensitive. I wonder if it is borne out of many years of negative experiences or just some ill ingrained in the DNA. It is my opinion that when people cannot assuage the feelings of others in distress, it is no good making it worse with reckless comments. No offense but I cannot understand how " being educated and rich" is a crime or diminishes your right to redress. I also wonder if reporting a matter to the police makes it subjudice and you cannot comment on it any more when it is not in the law court.

Honestly, I believe people should offer solutions rather than castigate GENUINE victims.

Tell us what you would have done rather than spitefully adding insults to injury. People should learn to put themselves in other people's shoes and not form the infallible wisest on earth. Even Albert Einstein could be wrong on some matters.

If it was a church your item got stolen would you come online to rant? It baffles me how people blame others for their own irresponsibility. 'I left my bag', 'I left my phone'. Who does that? I hear your argument but if you were the victim, what would you do? I am sure the aggrieved noted in his narration that they as a couple were the only customers in the place at the time. Fairly ask yourself or consider if they wouldn't have acted differently should there be other customers in the place. The context of their action must not be glossed over.

Again, should we ignore the fact of a theft because you think it is the owner's fault?

Should we ignore the untoward behaviour of staff of eateries or other public places in the name of customer's omission?

Should we ignore their non-compliance with basic standards like having a functional CCTV or customer complaint and crisis management? if the CCTV is not working, how are you sure the the fire extinguisher is working or present? Or if they have a muster point or emergency exit? It may expose other issues of security and safety.

Think about these things. No need to justify the ills in our society. When we encourage events as this, then we do not have a moral high ground to condemn our corrupt politicians because ultimately they emerge from among us and if they have been spared crooks, they will become bold treasury looters.

No Sir! I disagree. If she gave them time they would say why didn't she report to the police in time, why did she take so long. She went through the right step. Some people would still scream why didn't she go to the police 1st if she had come outright to social media. These days, you have to jump right into action with every procedure. I would even go as far as publishing this theft in the Newspapers , call every radio house in Lagos to air my complaints. Dem never see anything grin cheesy
