How you jumped from 2017 to 2019 even though we're still in 2018 still baffles me.

There is something called Executive Commission Course in the military. It is meant for senior NCOs (Sgts, Staff Sgts and Warrant Officers) and the training is 3 months. He probably became an officer after taking the course.

I learned he was a sgt and was promoted to lieutenant after the course. I think Warrant Officers are usually promoted to Captains on completion of the course.
In 2015, he was S&T instructor in Zaria with 2 stars. In January 2018 he is already a major. How come?? Besides, those who made the jump are usually bench commission and their promotions is considerably slower. But this guy seems to have an accelerated promotion. Is that normal too. Do people jump from from full lieutenant to major in 2 years

It's so funny to read comments from some kids above saying this is an uncivilized training that can't happen in developed country...lol. Google is your friend my dear.

I am sure some of those cadets will wonder how they found themselves there. Not easy to be a Soldier.
But in civilised countries, instructors don't beat the cadets. They can't shout at them but they dare not lay a finger on them. In 1 of those pictures, the instructor is with a whip-like object in his hand. In another, there's a stick. Military training anywhere isn't easy but trainees are treated with a certain degree of dignity.

You understand that it's to train them to be able to eat undesirable things should they get stranded without food? You don't see any instructor beating them to drink the blood.

In advanced militaries it's all about psyops training, mental and physical toughness. The day a drill instructor uses a cane or koboko on a recruit is the day he resigns his commission. Here some people still believe in the barbarism of flogging. Nobody will flog you at Sandhurst, Wespoint or Ecole Militaire.

Get your facts right.

please, what do you know about military training? this done to break you down and remold you. The military as an institution tries to instill certain aspects of behavior early on through the service's basic training/boot camp. tactics might be different in other nations, but it is meant to achieve same result.
.

My brother I know much about it, there is a big difference in our own training down here which put our service men in aggressive mod.
I have been in one of the trainings too, poor medicals, poor feeding & poor remuneration after training. After all these harder training & u are poorly paid, forget, they will surely transfer aggression on any one that comes across them

Nigerian army thinks that warfare is about ruggedness and swimming in potopoto, they fail to develop them on intelligence gathering and modern warfare techniques.
in army training there are survival techniques and intelligence equipments. In terrible battles survival techniques are very important.

I totally agree with u but it seems Nigerian army is solely investing in survival technique without embedding intelligence and current techniques in this modern era that is why u c the fight between rag tag boko boys is taking much time and lifes of our soldiers.

What baffles me much in this country is, our military & Police were trained like animals & we still expect them to respect us & behave in a civilized manner, after uncivilized training.
guy forget that thing.
It's a matter of the initial or induced mindset they have, not the training.
You should check the US special forces training, 10 times worse than this.
the only thing I object to in the Nigerian army training method is flogging.

Whats this one saying, don't always assume things, when you don't know shit about it, do your research about the kinds of training forces esp. rangers, special ops and the likes go through around the world. The idea is to take away any form of civility from them. They are guarded by strict codes of conduct on how they relate with civilians which they adhere to UNLIKE THIS PART OF THE WORLD.
