Very irresponsible approach. The money has already gone out of their economy in exchange for those cars so it's like he made his people work at a futile exercise.

'Sisyphean' is the word that best describes this modern day, lunatic king of the Philippines. Those cars would have been useful to their law enforcement or regulatory agencies

He's not an apa. Did u read the post at all...?? I don't think so. He is simply a President that mean business. not just talk tough, but act tough as well. If Buhari is as tough as him, most of the people in his cabinet as ministers ought to Be in Kirikiri or kuje prison drinking garri and half cooked beans.

I stand with the Philippines president 100%.

All those saying, baseje, Ota aje etc cursing the guy. Read again. He said they will sell to those that buy steel to make toys out of it. Still a way of generating revenue and enhancing the poor.

That is a nice move. Lovely. It's not the government's money so, selling the cars to generate revenue is another way of encouraging the act

selling it to steel companies that would buy it at less than 10% of the value of the car. lol no matter how you look at it those cars would still generate revenue for the government esp from taxes. the multiplier effect if accounted for can create jobs. most of you clamouring for buhari to be like this guy, we
hen he barred importation of some goods you all were shouting that he is making the country harsh and unbearable. FYI by the time Rodrigo leaves power he would have utterly devastated Philippines, am sure his people would rate him in the class of Marcos for the devastation unleashed

Rather than crush the cars, why not reduce the import duty to no more than 20%?

What's fuelling the smuggling are high tariffs which should be brought down

But It won't stop the illegal importation, because smugglers can go behind and buy it off.

This is a show of authority and intolerance to breaking the law.

Duterte takes NO prisoners! That's the reason he is loved by many and hated by few in his country.

If you auction these vehicles, the owners buy them back.
But if you destroy them, you send a strong, unequivocal message. Gives smugglers something to think about before trying their nefarious luck again.

A moral strongman that cannot be negotiated with will change the world sooner than a prevaricating pushover.

Deterrent. That's the way to go! If our courts start handing out long sentences and Nigerian politicians get the same death penalty as armed robbers, Nigeria will be one of the best Countries to live in. That's what many Nigerians thought Buhari was going to do but he was cornered and brainwashed by evil people. We should stay away things which are illegal or unlawful.Period undecided

As much as u have a good point, I'm certain there are a million ways to pass your message across without been so uncouth. I'm really also not a fan of Buhari, and God-willing by 2019 he must GO!! but It's just wrong how comfortable and easy u find it to insult a man Old enough to be your Grand dad, if not for anything at least for the sake of his age and a chance to prove you're cultured.

And this is a blatant waste of resources, there're plenty of civilized ways to re-purpose or dispose these luxury cars that can generate revenue to be used for the betterment and development of the country.
