Hello house, I hope you all had a great week  ! We recently came across a client who abhors mounting solar panels on his steep slope duplex roof . we had to improvise solar mount design on the overhead tank base with the help of galvanized pipe and clamp.
The client is a 24v system fan & this set up is meant to power lightening points with basic security lights , fans, selected sockets and 80L refrigerator on timer"madam insisted even before inverter upgrade ",and minor loads as client intends upgrading his 2kva inverter system soon. In details , items supplied comprises of ;
-Bluegate 2kva 24v inverter "clients old system"
-325w(6) mono pv
-200a agm(4) batteries
-Ep solar 60a mppt
-10mm (22m) solar cables , pv connectors, 63a double pole DCB, other installation accessories.

Its hasnt been an easy task but installation commenced today and we will update you as we progress . Cheer's

Happy Sunday Mr Ceejay , UPS would work without fan if you basically use it only on TV or very light load.. I believe your ups runs cool without vent fan due to you never loaded it above 30-50% and you also installed it in a ventilated area. My own pure sinewave APC 1500/980w alternative ups-inverter came with inbuilt fan . its has been serving me for past 5 years , I seldomly operate on 500-700w load(fans, 55 inch android smart TV,sony sound system, led bulbs, kitchen & rest room extractor fans, Samsung inverter compressor fridge, LG washer maching etc) most times cos am on a calculated battery bank n solar PV array .. The fan does a good job , its inexpensive 24v spec . once fan fails , the inverter is sensitive and indicates "over temperature alarm" grin ... Kudos to you if yours works great without any fan .

NOTE: My APC is an old model smart american power conversion unit .. Its pure sinewave unlike the new model with aluminum coils and fragile processor ! Cheer's

Mine overheated and literally caught fire. There wasn’t actual fire coming out of my UPS. I’ve resorted to going for the actual inverter. Would buy it from the mushin guy.

start small and grow big,
no sidon Sidon dey wait until u get 10million....
I started with just 40amp battery ,now I have over 200amp batteries that serves me more than a day when fully charged,
don't overload ur ups, install a cooling fan , stabilizers have cooling fan in them, some larger ups comes with pre installed cooling fans in them, inverters to have cooling fans in them,
I even installed a cooling fan in my music amplifier after it overheated 3 times and I changed the sound I.C 3 times, more than a year now the amplifier has not overheat,
start with a 30amp smart charger in case u want to increase ur battery in future,
no mind oyinbo wey say mixing battery brand names ain't good, I have 3 different brands I am using together for 3 years now and I didn't buy them new, one mans food is another mans poison

I am currently experiencing a particle buildup on the negative terminal of my deep cycle battery. I have had to clean it a number of times but it keeps building up. Now it appears that the capacity of the battery is getting weak.

What can I do to avert a total breakdown of the battery?

Corrosion

There is an inexpensive method to prevent battery terminal corrosion--applying petroleum jelly to each of the battery terminals.

Petroleum Jelly
An inexpensive way to keep corrosion from building up on your battery terminals is to apply a tablespoon of petroleum jelly to both the positive and negative posts. remove the battery cables from the posts, and rub the petroleum jelly onto each terminal. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands from getting greasy. Install the positive (red) cable first, then the negative (black) cable when you are reconnecting the battery.

Anti-Corrosion Washers
Anti-corrosion washers, which you can find at auto parts stores and retail superstores, is another inexpensive way to keep corrosion from forming on your car's battery terminals. The washers are felt pads that contain a specially formulated chemical that prevents corrosion. Remove the battery cables, slide the washers on and reconnect the positive cable first, then the negative.

Dielectric Grease
A tablespoon of dielectric grease will also prevent corrosion from building up on your car's battery terminals. You'll find dielectric grease at auto part stores, hardware and home improvement stores. To apply, disconnect the battery cables and apply the grease to each terminal.

Cleaning Corrosion
Before applying petroleum jelly, anti-corrosion washers or dielectric grease on your battery terminals, first clean off any corrosion that is present on the terminals. Mix 2 tsp. of baking soda and 2 cups of water in a pot. Then disconnect the battery cables, wrap them in a rag and place them away from the battery. Pour the baking soda mixture onto each corroded battery terminal. The baking soda will neutralize the acidic deposits. Let the mixture sit on the terminals until you see the corrosion break away. Wear work gloves and use a stiff brush to rub off any remaining corrosion. Dry each terminal with a clean rag or shop towel after the corrosion is gone. Reconnect the battery cables, and turn on the car to test the battery and connection. You can also remove the battery and sit it on a non-concrete surface and pour the baking soda mixture over each terminal.

How to Rejuvenate an Old SLA Battery With EDTA
A lead acid battery is, most commonly, a 12 volt battery with a series of six cells. Each cell contains a positive lead oxide plate and a negative lead plate and is filled with a solution of sulphuric acid. As the battery is used, the positive plate reacts with the sulphuric acid and produces lead ions in the water. The lead ions combine with the sulphate ions in the sulphuric acid to form lead sulphate. As the lead sulphate coats the plates, the battery is less effective and will eventually fail. Treating the battery with an acid called EDTA will remove the sulphating and prevent future sulphating.

Things You will Need:

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)
Teaspoon
Instructions
For an average sized battery, dissolve 30g (6 teaspoons) EDTA in deionised water. (5g for each cell)
Add this solution equally to each cell.
Agitate the battery frequently for the next couple of days and use the battery frequently. Do not charge the battery completely during this time.
Charge the battery thoroughly after a couple of days. You should see increased performance from this point on, as the EDTA frees the plates of lead sulphate that has been coating the plates.
Tips
Do not try to dissolve the EDTA directly in the battery acid
Remove a small amount of acid before you add the solution
This is not a permanent fix, but it will extend the life of your battery

distilled water.....

What is distilled water?
Distilled water is nothing but impurities free water at its purest form. It is so pure that there won’t be even ions in the water. Because of this nature distilled water has many applications including to replenish inverter batteries, car batteries, medical applications (like mixing it with medicine at the time of injection), in aquarium fish keeping, biological laboratories, aeroplane engines. The process of extracting the distilled water is simple and looks natural - boil the water, capture the condensing steam in the clean container. But it is a costly process to ensure the purity. So in many places deionized water is used as an alternative to distilled water. WHO mentioned that drinking distilled water do not add additional health benefits due to deficiency of minerals.

Why do we add distilled water in batteries?
Normal water contains ions in the water. If normal drinking water is poured in the batteries the ions clog at the electrodes, forming a layer and obstruct the chemical reactions which generate the current. If the drinking water has organic materials or dust particles it will hamper the chemical reactions badly. So it is always suggested to use distilled water which is ions free and ensure smooth operating of the batteries.

Why not use RO water as distilled water in batteries?
In some places like local vehicle repair stations people use RO water as distilled water as RO also removes all the impurities. But we strictly suggest not to do that. Due to recent research that RO removes all the essential minerals from drinking water the new water purifier manufacturers preserving the required minerals. Yes, because of this RO water is good for health, but at the same time it cannot be used as an alternative to the distilled water.

Where to get distilled water for batteries in India?
Enough said about distilled water, the next question is from where to get the distilled water? We are listing below few possible options. Please feel free to add additional information that you have found based on your experience while buying in India in the comments section.

Petrol filling stations or petrol pumps are the most common place you can find the distilled water. It is always to get the distilled water for reputable petrol filling station to avoid the risk of adulterated or impure distilled water. Make sure the bottle you get the distilled water is clean and sealed is closed. Distilled water costs less depending on the place you buy.
Battery selling shops. The vendors who sell the batteries also sell distilled water. You can try there as well.
Car servicing stations also keep the distilled water to refill car batteries and other internal testing purposes.

u can use rain water as distilled water but the water has to be direct rain water into the funnel to ur gallon and not from roof top and also make sure the gallon is clean and dry...
u can also use air conditioner water...
make sure u deplete the battery power, remove the top cover and the rubber seals on each 6 holes on the battery ,fill the battery six hole with the distilled water, charge the battery and put something under, like an unused towel, charge the battery slowly, if ur battery is 100ah reduce the smart charger knob to 80ah, do not use that battery till its completely charged full, and do not cover the 6 holes on the battery when u are charging it, leave them open
