I am interested in buying a phone and I feel samsung and iphones are overrated based on their price. I am about discarding my samsung note4 which i have used for over 2years and need a replacement as it overheats and runs down any faiely used ba3/new ba3 i buy. I believe gettin samsung s7 may be waste of money coz samsung may still give me ba3 issues and overheating. Which good android phone can I go 4with a swift os which will not hang despite having many apps and videos etc and good ba3 strength/life and resale value?

You can buy the Google Pixel 2 XL. It doesn't have a sleek design though but you will enjoy it.

Maybe I should have. I miss the great camera and that amazing display though. The v20 display is also amazing and the software is so blizzard I have never experienced any lag or hiccups even with same snaodragon oh did I forget to mention it has a HiFi quad DAC? Plug a quality headphone into this thing and the sound u hear beats anything u can hear from any phone guaranteed. Thanks to the quad dac, u can Google it. In fact phone reviewers call this phone the most underrated phone of last year.
You should have reset the phone. Most times and upgrade is done the phone lags. The lag could be resolved by resetting and starting over.

It cuts both ways.

Samsung phones have better cameras, better features, and better battery life than LG phones, especially on the high end.

LG phones are a great bargain, but their value drops like a rock. Unless you don't mind selling your phone for peanuts when it's time to replace it.

People don't buy LG phones for various reasons, but the last high-end LG phone worth buying was the LG V10. Everything since the G4 is a toss up.

At the mid and low end, especially the low end, Xiaomi, Honor, and other quality Chinese brands offer a better deal than any traditional heavyweight.

Seriously miss the times when you could actually choose an LG, Sony, or hTC phone over a Samsung--the LG G2, Sony Xperia Z, and HTC One M8 were the last of their kind, all three aforementioned brands just went on a decline from 2013/2014. While Samsung went from the so-so of the S5 to all new heights with the S6-S9.

U are right, but the thing with LG is they know they cannot compete with Samsung in terms of marketing. Samsung spend millions of dollars for a few minutes advert on Superbowl. As for htc their marketing department sucks and their engineers don't seem to understand the main thing consumer wants. The HTC u11 is a great phone but when u price it at the same price as a Samsung flagship then u are looking for trouble. LG has learned this and they no longer price their flagships as the same with Samsung flagships.

And I disagree the v10 is the best LG phone. The v20 is a major improvement on the v10, the 2nd screen got better and wide angle camera is great, better ui and better build. The v30 got even better with 6 inch oled display, water resistant, wireless charging, bezeless, etc. The phone is a beast. Can it compete with the note 8? Maybe not because no phone can compete with the note 8, that s pen feature beats everything any company has ever chunned out. Can it compete with the s8? Yes definitely. Though LG still needs to work on their camera. They are the underdogs and looks like they have accepted to remain like that with poor marketing.

But u are right about Samsung, they have grown from strenght to strenght and deservely too. They have grown from the company that make plastic phones to one of the most premium beautiful looking phones. Great software too trying to get new innovations every year. The best thing for the chasing pack to do is not trying to compete with Samsung for price because people will always choose an $800 Samsung phone over LG, Sony ot HTC of the same price. If Samsung price their flagships at $800, other companies should put theirs St 500-$600

Reason i will not use LG again is the LG Nexus 4 i bought and never used.

I bought the then sleek phone and a week later it fell in my sisters hands. A very tiny crack but the calibrator became unreponsive.

A replacement screen was 30k then and i said God forbid. I went to Tecno, several bad falls and not a scratch.

2 yrs down the line i got tired of the Tecno so i got a screen for the LG which was now 9k. It took 2 weeks to get a working one as the ones installed were malfunctioning. 2 weeks after the fix, my son dropped the phone again. For a year i have been looking for the calibrator or complete screen that will work to no avail. Lastly, i left the phone with the repair guy but for months i cant seem to find him again. Went to him 3 times he was not available so i gave up on the phone. This phone was used since brand new for like 3 weeks in total but i owned it for almost 4yrs.

The pros was that it gets all android upgrades. For 2 years its was down, when i fixed it, it upgraded to the latest android.

The cons was heat when browsing or playing game.

But I have owned an LG g3 I bought brand new from slot and it didn't give any problem until after 11 months and 3 days to the end of it's warranty period, it developed a boot loop and wouldn't power on. Thank God I didn't root it. I took it to LG shop in computer village and they fixed it for me for free within 24 hours. You should have taken ur phone to LG shop, they won't fix it for free since warranty doesn't cover broken screen but at least u know ur phone is in good hands. Na 30k for screen dey fear u, how would u feel replacing galaxy s8 screen, if u no get 90k no even near am.

Bro, i think i made the right decision because that 30k was what i added a little to buy a Tecno i used for 2 yrs.

Besides when i did eventually replace the screen, it broke again like amost immediately. What if that happened with a 30k replacement screen. That was even china screen, original screen would have cost even more and still can go bad in 1 fall unlike samsung, tecno and others.

The phone was so slippery because of the back glass. I loved it but it disappointed me seriously.

The HTC U11 is amazing. And actually it's priced decently. The reason why it didn't generate enough interest is that it came out barely months after HTC released the U Ultra--a phone that competed as the worse phone of 2017. So that rubbed off on the U11 coupled with the fact that it didn't have the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio and it just flew by unnoticed.

I'm not going to debate the V line. Some people swear by it, most people don't. My point is that the V20 was an incremental update to V10. Of course some things were better, but battery life, design, camera; I mean the main things that the average person cares about; were barely improved. Then in the V30 they remove the signature second screen and price it $840 at launch when the Note 8 is $930, what were they expecting?

Personally I don't think any flagship is worth more than $800. And that's a stretch, like for the note line only. All others should stay under including iPhones. And they would have if Sony, HTC, and LG kept the heat on Sammy/Apple. But they didn't and we now have thousand dollar phones, thank heavens people are pushing back.

I don't think the main issue is the pricing. It is the inconsistency and the fact that they can't seem to offer a complete, steady experience or package across the board. LG phones are still relatively cheaper than Samsung phones and their prices fall real fast, but they're still in the red. Everyone knows about Sony tax, but no one is biting because the package ain't worth close to the price tag. It used to be, not anymore.

Look how Samsung have cleaned up Touch Wiz into Samsung Experience and continue to improve on it. HTC Sense UI used to be the best Android UI available, and their phones used to have the best design in Android, yet they just let all that fall apart. Sony sells the best camera sensors to other brands and can't develop a decent algorithm to go along with it for their phones for the last 6 years. It's unreal.

It's like they all stopped trying; and in my opinion since 2015, we've been paying too much for too little innovation. The S9 has only 4GB RAM. OnePlus 5T has 8 GB RAM. Remember when Samsung used to be the one pushing boundaries. Then Apple uses a design for 4 consecutive years, decides to change it and what they could come up with is a notch. Remember how we all--iOS and Android users alike--used to drool at the iPhone 5 design. Then they removed the fingerprint scanner and slapped a $999 starting price tag on it. The nerves.

One thing with glass phones and some aluminium phones... They are all slippery and unusable without a case. So it just baffles me with these premium phones. They spend so much time to make the phone beautiful and try as much as possible to avoid rubber or plastic, make phones with glass back and at the end the user will still use a plastic or plycarbonate case to cover all that beauty so the phones can be usabe lol. Samsung Galaxy from s6 upeards, iPhone 8 upwards, (even from 6 upwards to some degree) are all basically unusable without a case.

And bro who told u Samsung screens don't break... They are the most expensive to replace. U can imagine a galaxy s5 of 2014 still costs 30k plus to replace it's screen.

Samsung are no longer the ones pushing boundaries, remember how long it too then to start using USB type c. They are in a very comfortable position right now than worry about pushing boundaries. The fewer features they can put now is benefitiial to them next year's release. If they add 8gb of RAM now, what will they add next. So they too are playing the waiting game because the other big boys in the game are no longer competitive as before, Samsung kncoked them all far back. And I don't blame them. If Samsung sells a flagship for $800 with all the bells and whistles, and LG or Sony decide to make similar phone and sell for same amount, people will buy 10 of the Samsung before someone buys the Sony or LG. And if they decide to reduce the price, by how much lower can they go before they operate at a loss? This is why all the Chinese phone makes cut some corners to keep things balanced, even OnePlus cut corners. A company can make a flagship phone with exact same materials as a Samsung and sell it for $400-$500, but people would look at the price and the brand name and say they rather buy a Samsung.. to most cheaper means low quality.

Where I blame LG is they could have capitalized on the shortcomings of the Galaxy note 7 to sell their v20. The v20 was the closest big screen phone to the note 7, after Samsung took the note 7 off the shelves LG could have gone and aggressive marketing to introduce the v20.

My friends Lenovo stopped working with one crack in the pocket. Likewise my LG with a very small crack. My Dads Acer tablet has stopped working with no crack on it. My sister's injoo tablet became crazy with on crack.

the Honor line of Huawei are low cost/low budget smartphones with decent to high end specs compared to Huawei smartphones itself. Maybe that was what the guys meant by Low end. Making the devices more affordable was what Huawei had in mind when they unveiled Honor as its subsidiary. Its the same thing with lenovo's ZUK smartphones- low cost with decent to high end specs. The phones are sold online by Honor themselves cutting out the middle men, thats why they are considered cheaper or 'low end'- in the language of those reviewers.

You are both definitely correct about huawei's intentions. But isn't it somewhat odd to refer to devices that go for over US$200+ 'low end' devices ? I mean as people on this continent. Not for the others.
