That Square One has a bus terminal and you can get Presto from there or your nearest community center.

That same Fido store at Square One gave us same package of Fido for CAD45.

Where did you get winter coats for $35?

Welcome to Canada

Oh I didn’t notice the bus station there.

I got my Fido for $55 o, maybe there was a promo when you got yours. Or maybe it’s not a standard fee. I can’t really tell why we got it at different prices.

I got the winter jacket from Urban Outfitters on sale

Hello EVERYONE.

PLEASE HELP URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CASE OF PASSPORT EXPIRING.

We are in a similar situation and we are confused as to what to do, cos frm wat i read below from your story or better still understand one does not need to send any message to cic if u renew ur passport as long as ur visa is still valid.

Please advice.

Here is my story.

Hubby's passport expires sept 2 2018 ...b4 visa was issued,LVO sent us a message saying if we wanted visa on d same passport considering that it was expiring in sept...n as at the time dey asked we were in January.so the passport still had 9months validty.Der was no way immigration wld hv issued anothet passport as at then.
Now we hv visa n we r leaving may. Passport will be 3 months to expiry and we hear immigration will not allow him go.unless passport has a validty of 6monthhs PLS ADVICE. SHOULD WE GO AHEAD AND RENEW AND ATTACH TO THE OLD PASSPORT?
amindondee:
Good day people,

Just to give an update which may be beneficial to anyone on passport expiry less than 6 months before travelling.

So my application was approved and i got all our passports and COPRs in January 2018. My passport was due to expire in May 2018. My spouse however, insisted i renew my passport before we travel because we did not know if we would be allowed to travel with less than six moths validity on my passport. I called Lufthansa and they do not seem to have a fulfilling response as they do not understand what an immigrant visa was and that it is better to have a validity above 6 months so as to avoid any hassles. I renewed my passport and wrote an email to Ottawa, Accra and LVO to inform them i would be renewing my visa. My thinking was that the visa would still be valid as with other visas i have experienced. The next day our CIC/Express Entry profile changed from Approved to "We are awaiting a decision....." and all the counterfoil information removed.

To my great surprise i received an email from LVO that all previously issued COPRs were cancelled and invalid, and we should send all documents (including all family members) back to Accra and wait for further instructions. We were all worried. We sent all the documents through DHL back to Accra and waited for further instructions. 2 days after i received the email requesting for us to pay $120CAD through the online platform for visa re-issue which i did immediately. Then the sudden silence from LVO starts; and we have 5 more weeks until our validity expires, no update on our account profile and no information from them for about 3 weeks and until today that our application on the profile now shows approved. New counterfoil issued and the old ones shown as invalid.

Any idea of how I can get my Drivers License Authentication Letter from FRSC ?

Any contact or information will be much appreciated.
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by 40manlappy: 2:55pm On Mar 19, 2018
Anyone that needs the DL authentication letter urgently from FRSC can send me a PM so that I can share a contact that I got recently. I don't think it would be appropriate to post his phone number and email address here.

Based on available information, you may just be required to arrange for courier service if you don't have someone to pick it up for you in Abuja.

IMO, that is still cheaper than paying $50 to obtain it in Ottawa, especially if you are still in Nigeria.

*MODIFIED*

UPDATE: It has been reported that this contact has started demanding for tips. I suggest that peeps should explore other available means.

Boss,

There is no other way to help you than those highlighted in the previous thread.

If you are still in doubt or confused, check other similar forums for more answers.

Why not just contact cic directly since any info from them will be the best bet.

NB:
Bosses, we understand the need to help ourselves with information. However, if you have any issues, it would be wise to contact the organisation in charge. Then when you get a response that you dont understand, people here can help you understand better....

I can only speak for Alberta. You may be able to qualify for child care subsidy which will reduce your out of pocket daycare fees.

It would be a bit tough but doable.
You have to find a job that fits into your schedule of picking up your kids from the daycare. Most entry or transition job have funny hours.

Dayhomes are flexible with time. You might want to find out if dayhomes supports subsidized payment.

I hope your husband would return soon. Depending on province (using Alberta as an example), when your 3.5 years old son starts KG, he/she would only spend 3hrs in school per day i.e 9am to 12 or 1pm to 4pm. That would further conflict with your work hours.

As per cost (conservative), rough calculation if Alberta:
Debits per month
rent: $1000
Groceries: $300
Diapers: $50-70
car insurance and gas: $120 (depends on province)
Electricity: $50
Phone and internet: $100
Daycare after subsidy for 2: $800
miscellaneous: $50

Credits per month
Your 2 kids: $1000 per month
Your wages: varies

Thanks for this info.

@ titiclassy, have you ever considered working in a creche? I love taking care of babies and I do this presently and voluntarily, once a week though. That takes care of this hassle "entry or transition job have funny hours", takes care of extra transport cost, and the stress involved in juggling a career with child pick up/drop off. Creche owner might further reduce the cost of care for your children as a staff (don't know if that works in Canny though, just thinking).

Lets just say we might be in the same shoes. I've got close to 10 years experience in banking and i'm ready to shift qualifications to one side to pursue a change of career that will fit around my children's schedule (both are younger than yours), at least until hubby decides to reside fully. We are still pleading grin grin grin.

I've wanted to seek more knowledge from the house on processes involved in establishing a creche in Canada too, but time never reach. I never even start research sef. Just in case you are interested or if anyone knows what it entails, lets begin to share notes.

We must succeed!!!
