I didnt ask you to LIE. All i am saying here is to only answer what you asked correctly and they wont ask you any questions thats not included in your DS-160. If they ask you how many institutions did you apply to, simple tell them the correct answer and if they ask what have you been doing since your high school , kindly tell them where you have been working and have a document to back it up.

Regards,
I only have the option of telling them I’m in one of the Nigerian university with a back up of results.. but I never included it on my Ds-160.. hope that will not be red flagged because there is a column that asked for previous school in Ds-160..

You right OP, Passed interview transcripts and words from the Gurus made me get it right the first time. Just like DHL term. Thanks once again OP's.

All thanks to God.

theamerican:

In your case, I think better preparation is what you need. I don't know which page but @lagosismyhome put up a list of past interview transcripts you can read and learn from. Read thoroughly and practice more until you are confident enough to answer basic questions that show your future plans in life and how getting this degree would help you achieve those goals.

Then, if asked "what has changed about your application", tell them what has changed. Don't say "nothing" or give answers that suggest the previous VOs made mistakes or didn't give you enough time, etc. You can simply say "in my previous interviews, I wasn't able to express how my plans to go for graduate studies would help me achieve my future goals".

9 out of 10 times, the interviewer's next question would be for you to show them how you have tried to fix this and this is where your preparation should come in... Perform better. Prove that you're a worthy student and you should be fine.

Please, prepare! Don't book that interview until you have improved.

Have a nice day. smiley

What about this
I finished from secondary school in 2014.. if I’m been asked what have I been doing at home since then what should I say??
Can I say that I have been assisting my uncle in office who is a legal solicitor..
I help him handle his documents then which triggers me to know more about settling disputes and making peace.. which also is the main reasons for choosing liberal studies because it helps in peace keeping and peace building..

Helping him to handle his documents triggering your interest sounds kinda weak a reason to me. I mean you've not been really involved in the professional aspect of it. I'd rather you find a more convincing reason. But if there is none, I guess you will have to modify it a little more and be confident when defending while you've chosen liberal arts. Wish u luck!

Hey, look you can get into a masters program even with that CGPA. I was waiting to be done with everything before posting my story.
My undergraduate CGPA was 2.7/5, Geophysics.
2.8/4 - transcript evaluation.
That didn't stop me. I applied for fall 2017 and got back to back rejects. Just an admit from one but couldn't attend due to lack of funds.
I sat for the GRE but my score wasn't stellar either. 295...Quant 151. I didn't mind.
I applied to 9 universities this fall. 4 rejects, 5 admits with some sort of funding in some.
Everything is about packaging and knowing what you want.
Your Statement of Purpose, Recommendation letters, Resume should all be on point. And a drive to succeed on your intended course of study. E.g...if it's Geosciences or CS, what are the computer applications you can use that can make you valuable in that field. What courses have you gotten yourself trained in to make your CV attractive?.
The God factor and several other factors.
I make use of Yocket, Quora and gradcafe a lot.
Especially Yocket because there you'll get school reviews and find and connect with so many Indians with similar profiles or even lesser and you'll also be able to channel your choice of schools according to your profile.
Don't ever think you can't get into grad school with a 2.7 CGPA.
Make the internet and search box engine your friend today.
Good luck.

Bro please I will like to talk with you personally ,how can I contact you abeg?

undergraduate.. cleveland State University ohio..
Liberal arts
Do I have to tell the truth because because I never included it on my DS-160 that I was presently in one of the Nigerian university.. I might get penalized for it’s not on my DS-160..
can I risk to tell lies that I have been helping my uncle in his chambers?

You are currently in one Nigerian university as we speak right.. So what will happen if you finally got the visa? You will abandon your school here in Naija. Isn't that waste of time and money? Why not take it one step at a time.. finish your university program here and apply for masters which will make things more easier for you. America is not running, it's always there anytime you finish your program here in naija. My little advice is try and complete your program here before jopping to America. You can choose not to take my advice but i really wish you all the best and hope this help.

I have two problems anyone that can help..
I finish my secondary school in 2014 and now I’m a 400L student but I never included that on my DS-160.. I applied for undergraduate in Cleveland state University
Because I don’t want them to know I’m in a particular school right now..
my question is.. if the VO ask me what have I been doing since 2014 what should I say??

NO 2
I actually applied for 3 schools but I included only one unknowingly to avoid further discussion from the VO
What if I’m asked how many schools did I applied for.. can I say 3??
well known for me that it’s not on my DS-160 can I get penalized??

Can I say somethings that happens not be be on my DS-160 can I be penalized??.. I need help.. my interview is just few days ahead please
Please your responses are highly appreciated
My interview is so near
Please please please
God bless you all

you probably dont want to hear this .........but at 400 level , it is better to finish and then apply as a master student than hustling tuition for a whole 4 more years .

America is not an easy fix , and life there is not always a smooth journey

I so much appreciate your concern.. but it’s not easy to follow.. you have to also consider the fact that I have spent a lot of money and much of effort to get to this place..so I can’t follow your advice... people spent time and money to invest in Bernie Madoff's investment scheme; it turned out to be one big ponzi scam...
people spent time and money to invest in Enron; the company's book cooking days caught up with them, and poof!, they were gone..
people spent time and money and life in Lehman Brothers; and in days, trillions of dollars went up in smoke....
people spend time, life, money, and make sacrifices on many many things that never work out; don't get too hooked on sunk cost, at this point you should planning very carefully, and not getting stuck up on whatever resources that have been expended. Live Long and Prosper. grin

Lol you are funny. I hope you won't regret this move later on. So you intend to go spend thousands of dollars for a 4years degree again when you are almost done with one. It doesn't make sense now and it wont still make sense later. Whoever is advicing is not telling you the truth. Waiting for another year to finish up your undergraduate and applying for a masters is right move. That will not only save you miney but also time except you dont plan to attend school when you get to the US. Additionally there is a way lying messes up with your confidence. Just hope the lie does not not shut the 'US dream' door against you

Anyway follow your heart and do what you believe is right and the best for you.

@Coxtie

People here have looked at the possible long-term effects of your decisions and advised you accordingly. I may be wrong, but you're starting to strike me as a person who just wants to be told what they want to hear.

Anyone can come here and tell you to lie, go ahead and get fake documents, cook up a story and sound convincing to the VO. They may even cite cases of people who have done it and succeeded, and you'd be happy with such advice.

When you decided to quit school in your final year, spend money on securing undergraduate admission, book a visa appointment, come to the U.S. and take the leap of faith, I'm sure you had a plan and had it figured out. We've told you the risks involved. I hope you sound convincing and get the visa.

Afterall, you only have 5 minutes or less to convince the VO that you're a good student who's only coming here to study and return home. Keep asking yourself and working on what to say/show to achieve your goal.

If at this stage, you've not come up with a water-tight story and potential answer to every question you could be asked, you need to step up your preparation FAST!

All in all, by now you're aware of the risks involved in the path you've decided to follow. You could be a risk-taker and who knows? You may have good luck and everything works out like you planned.

Just remember... life in the U.S. is not about getting a Visa. If you have no plan... oh well.

My transcript 1:

Me: good morning ma
Vo: pass me ur i-20
Me: I did.

Vo: why did you choose wvu?
Me: of all the sch I applied to, wvu is one of the best and among the 1st 50 rated schools in USA, [s]well known for its well structured curriculum[/s] and a high quality research program which aliens to my area of interest. And above all, I shall the doing a research work with Prof Charles Wenger who already told me about the research topic in my department..... (She cuts in).

Vo: how many schools did you apply to
Me: just wvu.

Vo: kept typing for ages................ Finally gave me the denial stuff.... You ain't eligible.
Me: was like... Why? She said I should go thrn the letter and know why. I left.

My transcript 2: 19-04-2018

Vo: pass me ur passport and i20
Me: good morning ma, as I hand over the materials to her.

Vo: I discovered you have been denied, wht has changed
Me: yes, i was denied, amd nothing has changed.
I don't kn why I was denied. But I think I wasn't given enough time to express myself.

Vo: OK, now you have the time, express yourself; whts new: what has changed in ur new application.
Me: (@ this point I was getting confuse, and she repeated it again) and I started talking about the school again, just like the way i said in the first one, perhaps der was no change in the former. And it ended with same denial.

Please I need assistance on how I can go about it?
What do I do? Planning to take Lagos embassy this time, because my admission is closing 15th may.

We keep shouting this everytime! sad
Apply to at least three schools and write the standardised tests ( TOEFL and GRE ) to show you're a genuine and serious student. Choose a programme related to your undergraduate degree.
Always make sure you talk about the school based on how it will positively help your carrier and not based on what people told you about it.

It depends on your total cost of studying.
Let's say $26,000 for 2years masters programme. Will a balance of $14,000 fly? Knowing
Fully well it will cover the cost of first year of the
