what if it doesn't involve communication at that point, how do u communicate with a patient in coma? how do u communicate with a patient who can't talk due to illness?different situation require different actions, from my angle it's no big deal cos she might even be using it to ease stress off. nobody can tell

If the patient is in a very critical situation and or in coma and she wears that kind of relaxed expression on her face then that says it all.

A patient is dying and the first thing is to have stuck up your mouth with that lolly pop and be feeling cool.

That doesn't look like an emergency situation to me. It looks like a routine check. And Doctors or care givers typical communicate with the patient as they touch, especially as it was reported as an accident victim, to know where he still feeling one pain or the other.

What she did is by all standards unprofessional. No matter how you try to defend it.

This is a doctor not a nurse. Nurses don't wear ward coat. They either wear nurses gown or scrubs depending on what the institution they work with wants. So Op correct ursf. This menace of always blaming everything dt happens on d ward on nurses has also spread to nairaland. God save nurses.

There is no rule or ethics in nursing or medicine dt forbids one from licking lollipop when attending to a patient. If u r a paramedic u will know better. U could go to work with ur breakfast n not even remember u brot food to the ward talk less of eating it till evening. That's to tell u how's time taking caring for latients demands. Sometimes u r even going hypo ursf in d course of discharging ur duties yet patients won't take no for an answer. I do ds sometimes even in ward rounds. This is not like she carried a bowl of rice n sat down eating while a pt is dying. She was just snacking while doing her work. The person u r seeing in dt pix is not a nurse but a doctor. Mind u I'm not a doctor. I'm a nurse so I'm not defending her as long as she doesn't take the lives of people with levity. Lollipop won't stop her from communicating or doing what she's supposed to do.

That's actually a doctor and not a nurse, nurses wear nursing uniform or scrub and not lab coat

Stupid journalism.
Out with an aim of tarnishing our noble nursing profession.
.
Get your facts right.
Before Amadioha open ur file.
BTW what matters is that the female doctor was attending to the patient,
Lollipop in the mouth is not a big issue.
.
I love chewing gum at work.

Looks more like a Doctor.

The thing is youths of today take too many things for granted.

They don't have sense of emergency and urgency. They always want to still feel cool under any situation.

I have a lot of them around me so I know what I am talking about.
egbon you take things too serious...let us the young minds wind up a little...

You can't be playing with a life and death situation.

There is nothing wrong in that so long as she was not licking that inside a theater where a major surgery is taking place.
The lollipop may be helping her relax as she does her job.
Pls free the Doc

humans are not robots...
you don't expect humans to act perfect all the time...
I was discussing with my colleagues the other day... they've been cases where the customer care representatives will deliver an exceptional service to the customers...and there are other times he/she may not meet up.... but still a reasonable customer should as well put his/her self in the CCR shoes and not go report him/her immediately...whereas same customer won't dare commend in times she does well...

sometimes good we learn to feel for others.... and create excuse for them..
we too are not perfect in doing our work..

What if she had it in her mouth before the patient was brought in?

What if she's pregnant and was feeling nauseous?

Make una free her small...it's not like she was performing a surgery...

And she might have been working all day and feeling tired so she decided to get some glucose from the lollipop...

Lollipop contains simple sugars which are converted to energy quickly.

U re very correct.

Some people relax through it,
the problems we are having in this country is that we simply don't feel for each other...

I remember a day at work...that day we had so much crowd...customers were much that day.... and i was assigned to manage the Queue that day.... while managing the customers...one customer whom I try manage with his wife...after he has been attended to went to my manager's office to report me...that he does not think I am fit enough for the job....me not good enough...

and same day...I had up to 3 customers commend me for my conduct..one even give me gift...

I was downcasted when my manager communicated that customer report to me...being that she knows how good I have been she only advised me and we moved on...

but of a truth...that customers report in some settings could cost someone his/her job...
many people rarely think prior their actions.

She has done nothing wrong. If this happened in the theater, then it would be unprofessional.

The thing is most people have not been in an environment where these people work.. Nurses, Doctors and some other health care professionals at times, put in close to 14 hrs grinding shift standing on there feet, with no food or breaks in between..Grabbing a little sugar on the go is not a crime if you understand their working conditions..please free the girl.

You only noticed this one because the stick was visible, would people make the same comment if she had a buttermint sweet inside her mouth..
