Rubbish!!!

We do not need a national carrier. National carrier are just pride symbols and white elephants that developing countries use to deceive themselves. Which progressive country has a state run national carrier?

Nigeria should provide drinking water, 24 hours light, good health care to everybody in Nigeria before providing an airline that less than 0.01% of people in Nigeria can ever afford to fly.

The richest, most peaceful and developed countries in the world do not have national carriers yet their people have 24 hours light and water and their airports are busier and cleaner than ours

I don't know why some people don't have anything positive to say about Nigeria. It was confirmed that Nigeria Airways will start operation soon. Many Nigerian aviation expert are happy with this development. I got the information on TV, i was happy.
Baba OBJ should be ashamed of himself because, it was during his administration Nigerian airways died.

God Bless PMB and his cabinets.
God Bless Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A national carrier doesn't necessarily have to be owned 100% by the state...many developed countries have national carriers..that they eventually dispose of totally to private investors or invest in through pension/sovereign funds

because I as an okada rider cannot eat aeroplane talk less of travelling in it.[/quote. Not only paying for our ticket they will also give us diplomatic passport so that we can fly to any country without visa.

Are you minding those ones expecting it to be free. Is that not Buhari said in London, that a lot of Nigeria Youth want everything to be free.
The points you stated, that was exactly what an aviation expert said on TVC yesterday.

However....

“National carrier cannot be ready in December and I challenge them (to call a debate) on this. Nothing is working in the aviation industry today. Politicians are killing the aviation industry in the country through their unfavourable policies,”
-Saidu Abdulrazaq
ANAP Secretary

The Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals says the Federal Government’s declaration that the proposed national carrier will commence operations in December is not achievable.

This is not progress. The government shouldn't be in the airline business.

Your thought is a bit lame sir .
If you travel often, you will realize the need for a national carrier.
They airlines use it to boost their country's economy. Wherever you're going in the world, national carriers will take you to their countries first, you will spend hours and you will have to spend your dollars in their country.
It doesn't necessarily have to be owned by the government 100% which is not advisable, but all the governments usually have stakes in it no matter how little.

What is the point of wasting value resources in establishing a national carrier in the 21st century if we are just going to sell it off?. Just encourage the massive private sector to establish their own airlines. I said it before the average Nigerian will not enter a plane in his or her life, we need the little money we have to be spent on 24 hours light, not vanity projects that will be misused by the corrupt board of directors appointed that will give themselves and their families free tickets.

Nigerians should not encourage this wasteful venture, which will only benefit the elite.

I am a PROUD NIGERIAN and I believe our NIGERIAN entrepreneurs have a better chance of having the best airlines in the world rather than a useless government airline. (Afterall a few years ago a Nigerian businessman was at the head of a private consortium that bought and ran the second largest airport in the UK, Gatwick Airport - would any Nigerian government allow that in Nigeria?)

No sir, but you will agree with me that they know better. You think you just start a national carrier overnight?
They've not even settle the previous debts and are yet to pay the old staff.
Except they just want to score cheap political points, they need to take their time to do a thorough job so it won't fold up again.

Mind you, the old Nigerian Airways was not properly liquidated. Up till today we don't know how much they sold it.

Before the federal government consider bringing back Nigeria Airways they should first of all settle all outstanding money owed staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways.

At a time Nigeria is set to be politically restructured the best option would have been the federal government to leave Aviation under private sectors or regional government.

The federal government must as a matter of urgency devolves power to the state.

Let states in Nigeria run Aviation to create jobs for their indigene and other residence.

Cant wait for this to come to pass..how can a nation like Nigeria dont have a national carrier, its really embarrassing , and am suprise that people are so blind by ethnicity that they can not see the good forth-sight of such news...pitiable the same party they are all rooting for right now held sway for 16 years and could not revive the Nigeria Airways..
