A good PhD is funded and universities/Professors recruit the very best to do research for them.It is like a job. Positions are offered to the most qualified. Masters degrees as you rightly pointed out has become cash cows for universities.Sometimes, people are admitted to Masters degree programs to make up the numbers. That's doesn't happen for a PhD. It is easier to get admitted for a masters degree than a PhD. If the wrong applicant is given a PhD positon, it affects the Professor's research work.,
.. you're very very correct sir grin grin grin.

But not in top 100 institute in the nation presently, It has loose its accreditation long ago in the U.S Rankings. cool

I mean: Top public schools(regional universities in the midwest is 34)

Their Engineering programs still in top ranking for Now.

Bros you lie here,,,

I guess you are talking about course work Masters and not thesis or research based Masters...

Different schools, different rules.
people apply for MSC and are given Phd instead..

It is just easier to get funding with a Phd, cause it comes mostly with offers than an MSC
Its not cast in stone...

I just dey laugh here. I maintain my stance oga 200%... I won't comment further cos world people are already hovering looking for the next blackmail they will table against me.

Just know that the AVERAGE application pool for MS EE is far more competitive than that of PhDs... Very few people (especially those with gangster scores) are ready to commit to a 5 year research degree.

I do agree with you that it's much easier to secure funding for PhD. But admitted PhD students usually have stronger academic credentials than Masters students. For example,
you can check University of Washington Civil Engineering Admitted Students Statistics

It is very clear from the link above that on average, admitted PhD students have higher GPA/GRE scores than Masters students.

I think it is easier to get admitted to a masters program. But chances of securing funding is very slim.

Greetings Gurus.

I intend to start MSc ECE in Spring semester, 2019.
My undergraduate profile is as follows:
OND: 3.51/4.00
BEng: 3.85/5.00 (Direct entry)
Course: Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Although I'm studying for my GRE and TOEFL, I'm wondering if I should evaluate my transcripts with WES to boost my CGPA and perhaps my chances of securing a tuition waiver.

Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

but why would you reject it ........ Odd . If you get it there is no rule that you be forced to go live there so why not have it and then you have that option in case you change your mind . ..

Digressing back to the topic , that you have two direct relative in the US but going throug non immigrant route , i dont know it a difficult one but can be subjective to the VO you see. Maybe the next VO wont see it as an issue , you can only hope

About rejecting it, maybe it’s a mistake I’ve learnt from.
And about the interview maybe another VO won’t have a problem with that like you said, the black American lady wasn’t smiling at all.

That lady is notorious for rejecting candidates, you don't get her approval on a platter of Gold. She is just too thorough with the process, she won't forgive your little errors and she can also ask loads of questions.
I will also point out, she could be doing this in order not to appear she is issuing out a lot of approval for blacks; I guess she is only protecting her job.

I like your choice of schools. PhD in Electrical Engineering should be easier to get than MS in same course

If you feel your GRE isn't the best representation of your abilities, you are always free to rewrite.

And once again, I like your choice of schools

While applying, make sure you put at least 3 ambitious schools there... UT Austin is one... You can increase it to 5 according to your risk level

But also add a couple of moderate and safe schools (BUT NOT TOO MUCH OF THEM!)

Being application smart is knowing how to mix your ambitious, moderate and safe schools... I've seen people apply only to super safe (not even safe schools) and yet, they claim they are application smart grin grin grin. And some of them even get rejected from the super safe schools cos they are over qualified and they begin to feel that safe schools are difficult to join.

So, your pocket (for application fees) determines the number of schools you can apply to... But I advise you include at least 3 ambitious schools cos your profile is decent

Smash that GRE (especially the Quant), rape the AWA (4.5+). I see you already have strong proficiency in verbal. For most people, it's natural

Finally, I wish you the best of luck

Can you pls send me the GRE MATERIALS in Hajitoomuch@gmail.com.

Thanks

I was interviewed by her..
Sometimes, the way we respond to questions, propels more questions to be asked, you know?

Just re-apply, work on your transcript, get some nice answers and pray for Gods Favour and direction.
There is no perfect answer to any question.

Is there anyone currently studying at Morgan State University here? The school offered me PhD admission and they are yet to say anything about funding. They only inform about admission decision through email more than a week ago and since then, I've been calling and sending email to know the position about funding. All they do is to send generic email as response.

Just don't know what to do anymore

I have a question.
I studied Maths/Actuarial Science during my underG.
I had 4.53/5.00
I'm willing to further my studies abroad and looking for opportunities in top schools.

I need advice on what should be my steps and which schools can I apply.
N:B- I need fully funded institutions and pay stipends.

Thanks in advance
